I decided to update my GT2 from FW681 to FW756 this evening, but I'm struggling to get a good setup.
Anyone care to share their settings if they're using FW756?
Mapo.
Never mind! I've gone back to FW681...
My GT2 has locked up/frozen once in the 2 years I've owned it, in the 2 hours since updating the FW it's locked up 4 times!!!!
As Gizzie pointed out... If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Mapo.
Hats off and a Christmas Toast to you guys using a controller...Outstanding!!!...I don't know how you do it!!!
I can't understand it either. I couldn't do one lap with a controller without spinning, bouncing off the walls, running off the track and doing everything but driving.
I've switched to the wheel from the controller. I'm still a bit quicker with the controller but I'm starting to regain that pace now that I'm on the wheel full time. S Class and up is still and adventure with the wheel. I don't know how long that transition will take but I'm happy driving in A class and below for now. I do miss those R3 cars...

I use TCS for S class and up. It makes the wheel, and the car, more manageable.

Just stick with it Snappy. Stay with the lower class cars until you really get used to driving the RWD cars with no TCS. Then start moving up to S and above. I can drive most S class and some R3 and R2 cars without TCS, but I always need TCS for the R1 cars. Don't be afraid to use it until you get used to the cars.
What would be the best start up steering wheel for a noob to have. Nothing expensive as it might not get used a lot.
For Forza, keep your eye out for a used M$ wireless racing wheel, either via craigslist or these forums. I don't know about ebay. My sense is that people on ebay want too much money for that wheel.
For PC and PS3, the Logitech Driving Force GT is the best budget FFB wheel out there. I have seen it on sale for as little as $60.
Paul, if you're in the UK then Gumtree is usually not bad to pick up a used MS wheel.
I sold two of them with a Wheelstand Pro for £70 right before I joined 2O4F, wish I'd hung on to them now.
Avoid any other cheap wheels, you're better off with the controller.
I can understand that but tbh i would not want to buy anything too expensive at first. So looking at a cheap version first and then maybe ill progress.
I checked Gumtree in this area and second hand MS Wheel and Pedals go for £30-50 which is about what you will pay for an unlicensed wheel and pedals.
The problem with the xBox is the licence was only given to Fanatec (by Microsoft) to produce xBox wheels so the only Cheap option is a used Microsoft wheel. Other people make compatible wheels, but they don't have any force feedback as without the licence they don't have the required algorithms (or more likely permission to use them) .
I used the MS Wheel for 3 years and they are fantastic for Forza, and are actually decent build quality.
Honestly, if you don't want the MS Wheel then stick with the controller, you'll be faster than using the alternatives.
I dont have a wheel.

We have some insanely fast controller users here.

Make sure you set the steering to normal in Forza settings, simulation makes it really hard to catch the back end when it steps out with a wheel!
