For the record... Since I'm new at both multiplayer and 2o2p, I've been intentionally spamming the site in search of advice and encouragement as I learn. Over-thinking anything is completely above my pay grade. Those enlarged maps were easy and fast, and already come in handy when I get to team with a local friend. I love 'em.
i'm already improved beyond what I imagined could be possible in a matter of weeks. Hell, I expected I might NEVER score a kill with a sticky detonator. Happened last night. All that to say -- I really do appreciate this group. You make multiplayer something I want to do, even if my anointed role is meat shield. Seems it's actually a high-value role, at least amongst tards.
On the campaign vs multi debate: I think they are separate games. I also race cars (Forza, PGR, etc), which screws things up even more, but I love to race cars. Since the group seems prepared to embrace me no matter my skill level, then it's a conversation I can drop. Surely I'm not the first noob in 2o2p's years to try fishing for help without knowing the ropes.

Don't listen to Wam. Yes he was God awful at first, but now he is just bad. I was bad when I joined this sight, I am still bad. But the vast, vast majority of the good players on this sight will help you. Post videos of your play, but I think just playing games with the better players will help more than anything. I think the most important thing a bad player can do when playing with much better teammates is to communicate. Give as much info about everything you can so that you are contributing.
The more you play with actual teammates and not randoms, the more your play will improve. I was in the same boat as you a few years ago when I was introduced to online gaming with Halo 3. I was on the verge of quitting until I got in with a group and started to really enjoy myself (and learn how to play). Playing with friends makes all the difference. Granted, I'm still bad, but it's more fun to play with friends than randoms that don't talk.
If you are having trouble in War Games, stick with your team and help put shots on people. Stay with your team and rack up those assists. Start off with concentrating more on getting assists, supporting your team and simply staying alive and the kills will come.

haha, as long as those are the parameters I'm good to drive! I've been known to turn corners and confront a wraith before too.. ;)
If you want a very cool map to do some training on then make sure you check out "The Gym" map created from Ravine by someone from 443.
As for some of the other comments... a K/D is not everything, anymore than a passer rating means a great team result, I have lost alot of matches playing with K/D kings who don't care about the objectives... if your DRM/BR is not that great then become good at tactics and objectives.
Some great "shooters" suck at getting the flag, running the ball, etc. or take on the suicide missions. Become a vehicle killer! Run at that Mantis and LOCK THE BITCH... you can turn games by taking out the vehicles. Be the one who sticks the defender or king with that plasma death grenade... hell I went one game with 30 deaths, 2 kills on CTF but 4 flag captures... you can't get Magic Hands (11 times) and Ball Hog (17 times) in Matchmaking by trying to work on your KD, but, it sure helps with wins...
oh and those K/D stat whores loves having folks who don't mind dying for the cause!
