So for us simpletons is that 11.30pm UK time?

Also, to enable a number of tunes to be tested could we run 3x 10 lappers to allow change of car?

P.

I was thiking 15 lap runs because tire wear doesn't seem as significant as it was with the britpro cars.

Good test session this evening guys.

Please take not that I've added the max hp rating specs to the original posts.

Some changes that have also been made...

AMC Javelin max hp limit lowered to 400HP.

1969 camaro & trans am have been dropped from the eligibility list. These cars were either not used in the 1970 season or only ran as back markers by privateer teams.

How about a session at laguna seca next week?Same bat-time, same bat-channel?

While I may not be participating in this series, I have put together some base tunes and builds for these cars.

Anyone interested in giving them a try msg me on Live and I can gift them over to you. Further tuning for individual drivers on request.

As the junior member of PTR I am more than happy to do this for our community. I will also load them to my SF, search "NEW TA".

Let me know.

Thanks

Huey, PTR tuner

Drove the AMX last night and broke the motor I guess. Sounded like the coil was cutting out under load, no power = no go, turned a 1:48...

Either that or Huey's tune sux! Hehe...no one told me damage was on, I mighta cooked it off the line. Holeshots the best part of my driving skillset.

Cotter! Sent you a copy of the AMC T/A paint and one to Raddohuey as well.

Is The 70' Mercury Couger going to be included? It was a Trans Am series car.

One other question....Why drag tires? The reason I ask is that I see other series use drag tires in the build spec, and was curious why it's a popular tire choice.

The other thing is that the Bonneville wheel from I think Crager is MUCH lighter than all the other wheels. Is this wheel included?

Well after posting this I did some searching and it looks like Mercury only participated until 68'

the drag tyres are there so we can get some real tyre wear working, the slicks just go on forever

Jimmy, you know I'm a stoner. Don't expect me to remember shit.

He says the cougar ran in the 70 season though. I'll have to do some research. & get back to you guys.

I guess I was wrong. Looks like the 70 Couger wasn't Trans Am racing. In 70' it raced in NASCAR's Grand American series, which was a competitor to the Trans Am series.

From WIKI

"The series featured Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros, AMC Javelins, Mercury Cougars, and Pontiac Trans Ams.[1] Several Grand American cars were former SCCA Trans-Am cars, extensively modified to meet the NASCAR safety rules and weight limits.

The motors were initially restricted to a 305 cubic inch (5.0 liter) engine displacement.[2] The 305 cubic inch limit eventually was increased to 366 cubic inch to help with performance and reliability of the Grand American cars.[2]

Win controversies

In 1971, the money invested by American auto makers began to lessen as marketing and perceived consumer demand caused funds to shift away from NASCAR.[1] The car entries for some of the Grand National (now Sprint Cup) events with smaller payouts shrank to the point that NASCAR allowed the Grand American cars to race in certain Grand National events.[1] Grand American drivers Tiny Lund (Camaro) and Bobby Allison (Mustang) were winners of Grand National races.[1] These victories have not been added to either driver's NASCAR total wins, and there is a debate whether or not they should be added.[1] NASCAR had dictated that if a Grand American car won it would not be credited with the victory; first place points would not be awarded. Despite this, the wins were counted as constructors victories for Chevrolet and starts for Lund."

Sounds like fun. When is this suppose to be? I'd be interested in running the 1973 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am SD-455.

Nothing is set in concrete yet, but I think we'll be running on saturday Afternoon around 5:30 CST. This should allow me time to finish the Porsche series beforehand & have some time between events.

Building a few cars and testing, but won't make it this weekend because of work.

Having a hoot building to series spec though. New to me and rewarding to build something not maxed out in class PI, but being faster than those that are. Look forward to running some laps with ya's.

One question: This series will have damage 'on'? If it is such, I better test with it on to make sure my cars/engines don't shit the bed.

edit: PS: Huey...your Challenger is freak'in fast.

Yes, damage will be set to limited simply so the tires will wear.

I sooo want to come out and run some laps with you guys to test/see how my cars stack-up. Work again this Sat. can make the following 4 though.

If you have time after..could you post some ave. times and what tracks they were run on so I can get an idea how quick you got your peoples (sic) cars.

I'm about 0.5-1.0 second behind my old lap times. Trying to adjust to the new/old Fanatec wheel and pedals.
