I really like the new CTF, but....

..why no Longbow or Exile. I can see Longbow being a little to big, but Exile isn't. Overall though the more I play CTF the more I like having the pistol and moving faster.

new CTF < old CTF

new oddball > old oddball

Agreed. I like the new changes to CTF as well. Forces a different kind of coordination from the previous Halo games.

I'm not sure why Exile isn't included in CTF. I mean, they included Ragnarok, so why not Exile?

I too like the new CTF. All the action is overwhelming and it really helps me get oriented towards the flag carrier and start fighting again. Even then it's still fairly tough to know what is going on sometimes.

I expect the competitive players will often say the old CTF way was more competitive and I'm not speaking against that. I just think this new way works better for me.

I was initially concerned about not being able to flag juggle.  Since H2 the series has not consistently rewarded technical expertise. Removing button exploits or the smoothing of the maps getting rid of some of the old technical jumps might have had the "balancing effect" they have been seeking, but it means that guys that really work out on those types of techniques now have to forget them and play a more one dimensional style.  Flag running also became a very specific techniques that some did well and others did not.

However, running backwards and shooting people trying to catch you is more fun than that.  Things like routes and seeking cover and timing of grabs all still play well to the objective minded members of a good team and embarassing some poor bastard who forgets you have a gun is waaayyy better than trying to jump/throw/punch a flag.

It also makes dixon angry so I like it for that too, 'cos fuck him.

Nope.  I don't mind the new flag much at all.  I'm perfectly fine with the change.

Sorry, I meant to ask what time your mother was ready for dinner tonight.  By dinner, I meant feeding her a nice white sauce I made after watching the Food Network.

I don't mind the changes, I just want to choose whether or not to grab a flag.

Also, I need to confim that there is a delay after the flagnum's first shot.  I can't ever fire two rapid shots when I grab the flag.  After I reload it seems ok, but not after initally grabbing it.

for the love of Master Chief don't let there be Exile in CTF. i wish it would go away and never come back.

my personal opinion is Ragnorock is in it because it's the best map for it that they have.

i'm one of the window lickers that votes for it every single time it comes up no matter what the game is.

it's the new Swordbase, except it doesn't suck.

The mechs completely ruin that map.  The biggest problems I have with vehicles in H4 is that they seem a lot harder to destroy.  Shooting a vehicle with your DMR or BR is pointless because there is no more ammo to pick up after  you empty your gun.  I tested this not long ago with a warthog and a ghost.  I was in the ghost and I sat there for over 20 seconds shooting the warthog non stop before it finally blew up.  I think it was more like 25.  Does not sound like much, but in a game when someone is driving one around that is a lot.  You cannot even get close to a mech without being mowed down.  So you can be pinned down in your base for an entire game.  They should have left the banshees on the map.

this is what i start every BTB match with and it does work vry nicely.

the mechs don't bother me really. i'd rather have them than the Banshee. a good Banshee pilot will tear you up alot faster and more often than the mechs. they're so slow that they only have a limited use. they are more of a defensive vehicle than offensive.

I watched i6Hitman play CTF twice on Shattered last night. Seemed to work really good on there.

I've played it on Shatterd before too and it's not bad. Certainly better than playing it on Abandon...lol

I think 343i counts on their intended audience dying, a lot. No joke.

so glad you can't throw the flag, because I got so sick of hearing the announcer tell you over and over and over again.  And anyway throwing it was just to fix the slowness in walking with the flag in the first place.

My issue with it now is that you should not have a marker over your head when you have the flag.  The defeats the strategy.

You have feet in both flag camps. Nobody is going to like you. ;).  I absolutely understand why the marker is added over the flag carrier's head. (Opinion) It's for new people and probably a majority of players who, like me, have great difficulty keeping track of. I also understand those who like the previous CTF method and see it as more competitive. I like both methods and the new one really helps me when communication is negligible. Is it my imagination but are way fewer people playing in MM with their mics on?

I completely agree with Shadow.  I'd like the option to first pick it up, but then to not drop it after you do, though.

ha :P

I think if you can get the flag you have earned not being a target.  People should have to work to find you.  Use callouts to get teammates to you.  Otherwise it's just no teamwork at all - just look at the marker on the screen.

I always have only team and party on for mics.  But a lot of people are in parties it seems.

P.S. - sent you a FR

Their moms probably heard them playing.  I have noticed this as well, but rarely venture into Timmy-land to play team match making.

I've had some real beastly games with the Mantis, but I've never been in a match where we were getting worked by it. Like LB said, plasma pistol and stickies and that bish is done

The mech is a much more defensive weapon to me. There is no sense in taking the Mech past midfield. It does a great job against attacking vehicles and suppressing the enemy.
