THE HALO BULLETIN: 1.16.13
[url=http://blogs.halowaypoint.com/Headlines/post/2013/01/16/The-Halo-Bulleti... HALO BULLETIN: 1.16.13[/url]
BS and 343i didn't say a word about file share or theater is this weeks update -
Yeah, I was expecting more though I am excited about Spartan Ops 6-10. I didn't realize the Forge Test playlist was being added next week. They have been saying they won't discuss the next big TU until close to release. I was still expecting something, even a Q&A.
With all of last week's heartfelt proclamations from Frankie about mistakes and the need to improve communication, I thought this week's bulletin was severly lacking. BS Angel, in all honesty, gets on my every last nerve with her attempts at humor. Bungie's updates were always fun to read, but her's are just annoying.
However the content of the Bulletin. I mean Spartan Ops. Really? I watched the video, but did not bother with all of the text.
I did read the part at the end about the MM update, but again it was more of this "we'll announce the maps later".
Another wasted Bulletin.
Totally agree. For the first bulletin after a "we fucked up", this was a lot like the previous ones. To an extent, their admission of "we fucked up" is going to hurt them. It's going to be difficult for them to do right. However, it'd certainly help if it at least looked like they learned a lesson/they stop fucking up. Some more specifics would be nice. Again, even a constantly updating document of three headers would be great on Waypoint :"Things that will be addressed" "Things we're looking at", and "Things we're not touching" would be pretty helpful with smoothing things over with the community.
But that would be good communication and would definitely break up their no-hitter! I definitely agree with you guys.
So we got the 2nd half of SOPS Season 1 -- which we knew was coming, and the community map test playlist -- which we knew was coming. I am just overwhelmed with the news -- NOT.
Looks like the OP is where 343 acknowledges the problems and documents whatever fixes there are. With the 300+ pages of complaints out there I wonder if 343 is keeping the "problem id" and status up to date. FYI this is what is out there for file share:
"Unable to use the "Search" feature for the Halo 4 File Share
File Search is not available at this time, and we’re currently investigating. In the interim, you can still create, tag, upload/download and provide/receive recommendations on user-generated content using the in-game “File Browser” feature found in “Settings & Files”. Use the “File Share Search” option for any of the file variants (screenshots, films, etc.) and search by gamertag to locate and view the contents of other users’ File Shares."
Don't think this one has been updated since first posted. They must still be "investigating."
Something like that. That's not really gameplay balancing or fixing the game-centric, though.
I never played H2Vista, yet I'm sad they're killing Halo 2... again.
Bulletin Update:
Groan. I suppose it makes sense it would come after the Feb. TU.
Saw that this morning. Guess if you get kicked in the shins enough times you finally take notice and do something. Why it takes this long for something that was developed in previous games is beyond me...oh wait...they took a month off.
Unless testing is on point, I expect some small problems from these games. If anything, that means they shouldn't release it closer to Christmas, but that won't happen, so get used to this month-long blackout immediately after release.

Details on file sharing functionality.
This was found on page 6 of the Halowaypoint forums

I'm starting to wonder why the game wasn't just released in February, late February. Then the beta testing would begin then, I guess, so maybe it was better this way?
What amazes me is that they had access to working code for these for months and actually (took months to) incorporated web file search into Waypoint. Why is this not already done for H4? Seems like this is a recurring theme.
didn't Halo 3 launch with file sharing on the web? That was 2007. How was doing it in 2012 a hard thing?
even after that is put into place - will there be a thing like Bungie Pro that will render your films to a video file? Otherwise it's going to be pretty much crap for films anyway.
Films, as they stand now, have glitches and no dynamic lighting at times. Pretty much needs a TU before rendering capability anyway. I want both now. Filming off my TV is dumb.
yeah I know BP was a later thing. But file share was a launch thing, I thought. Not sure though. I didn't get Halo 3 until two months after release.
It was there and touted as a huge feature of the game, and rightly so.
