Team Doubles Verdict?
Where the hell was this playlist at launch? It's pretty solid. There's the MLG map that's a mini-Relay that plays great with 2 (or 4), Haven, a heavily Forged Solace, where you can't go in back of the bases or in the level under the map (which would have been a good thing to do to the map in development), Scythe is still there, and improved with the teleporters shut off. Haven has some weapon spawns moved a little bit, but all in all, Team Doubles is a great time. Now we just need to keep the Forge Test map up and running and cycling regularly, funnel the good maps into Matchmaking.
Depends. Infinity, Pro, and something else are all thrown together. You pick map+gametype before the match. I saw no Objective modes, though.
Yes, one of the gametypes is Infinity Slayer with ordinance. There is also Doubles Pro with no PO drops, no AAs and no radar, but does include set weapon spawns. CTF is the other gametype I've seen played.
Im looking forward to playing this playlist later this evening. Does anyone else have a review on it for us unlucky chumps at work?
They announced CTF is in it as well, but like the fault with previous games it only comes up as often as they determine it should, and even then it has to be voted for.
Main reason I like them splitting out the objective lists this time. You had an almost impossible time getting to play koth or oddball before.
Doubles is one of my favorite playlist in past Halos. Can't wait to play it.
people really like doubles? There are not enough players to shoot, in my opinion.
People really like Zombies?
People really like Griffball?
People really like H4?
, Most like sex too
apparently I'm the minority. Just seems like Doubles is a lot of camping.
it is a little campy. But the maps (for the most part) are small enough for a team to two to cover in 15-20 seconds.
Having the ability to use your regular loadouts in 2v2 is definately a cause for concer. PV being a huge advantage. So vanilla Halo on these smaller maps is a bit funky.
this game is CTF on Dispatch with vanilla settings.

I'd like to delineate why doubles is the best. Doubles usually pull in a coterie of certain types of players. It requires a higher level of teamwork, which some people do not care to venture too deep into that area of Halo. In 4v4 you can get away with more stuff than you can in 2v2. To win against better players you have to be on the same page. Getting to the same page requires knowing who you are playing with, their tendencies, and what kind of situations suit them best. I am not great at dealing with randomness. However, if there is a structure involved then I can do a lot better. Other players are opposite. In the end it's all about finding what works best for whoever you play with.
Plus there are smaller maps :)

I played a lot of doubles in halo 3, looking forward to playing some in halo 4 now.
PV, Invis, Turret should probably be disabled for Doubles. I dont see Hologram, Jetpack, or Thrust being that big of a deal though. Regen... I dont think that one really matters.
Doubles seems like a pretty decent playlist.
Greetings,
I don't know if it was just last night or what, but my son and I tried playing some doubles and it was horrible. The lag was ridiculous. He's relatively new to online play as I've kept him and his brother on Sparton Ops until last weekend when I turned them loose on Swat, Griffball, Big Team Slayer, and Flood, and he started asking me why he wasn't seeing all the shots that were killing him even though the guy was right in front of him. "Dad, what's going on, I"m half dead and nobody even shot me." That's when I had to have 'the talk'. The one we all dread talking about with our kids, you know, has 3 letters in the word....yeah, Lag.
Plus we played on some circular map, Scythe(?) that looked very sterile, lots of white/grey and seem like something out of Halo2 graphically. Was very unappealing.
I'm hoping last night was just a fluke....
Also, until there's some ranking system I doubt I'll be playing much Doubles or Snipers. I really miss all the ranked games. :(

Then I've got bad news for you, you won't be playing any Doubles or Snipers if you wait for a visible in-game ranking system.
Remember TruSkill is working in the background of all games. However we do not see these rankings in-game - and according to 343 this won't be changing any time soon.
Ranks will be coming to Waypoint in April for the Team Throwdown playlist ONLY, but again, still not visible in-game. You will have to log-on to Waypoint via computer or smartphone to see your rank.
I played some doubles and it was a good time. every match was with a reasonable opponent.
in past games, the matchup was usually very one sided.
maps were decent.
I enjoyed it.
I keep on expecting more people to show up...
