Judgement launching with only 4 competitive MP maps
The game leaked out there in the past 24 hours . Some news coming out of that is there is just TDM and FFA VS modes, execution, annex, guardian, all those traditional gears modes are gone.
Also there will be only 4 maps to play TDM & FFA on. There will be 4 other maps to play Domination and Overrun on. The map pools don't cross over, so you can't play an overrun map in FFA.
No mention of Horde in any of the leaked news, and come to think of it, i don't recall Epic talking about Horde either. Maybe Horde's even been given the boot along with the rest of the traditional geras stuff ?!

Over Run is the new Horde and Beast combined they said that and not being able to play map for thoese game types is a good thing now the MP maps willl be made for MP and not Horde and MP the few maps is strange, day one DLC maybe for some new maps? They have said that the reason for the maps from gears 2 and 3 wher so big was they had to be bulit with horde in mind keeping them apart is good for MP cause now they can make maps for TDM and FFA by themsleves I already new that the other game modes where not going to be in there you kinda had to figure the EXE, WZ and any other single life game types where going bye bye when they took out DBNO from the game.
It makes sense to make smaller vS maps, but if you're not into the different game types and just play TDM, you'll pobably only get 2 maps out of a 4 pack that are relevant to you. They're not going to start releasing 8 map packs with 4 and 4. Maybe this will help encourage people to play something other than TDM.
I so hope that they bring in other game modes as DLC like they did with Guardian in GoW3. Multiplayer is so thin that they will push people back to GoW3 or some BF/CoD games if it doesn't come quickly enough. I hope that's not the case. Pretty much only played KOTH and TDM in Gears 3 myself. Player retention is something I am worried about.
Not just lack of game types they are in lack of a match makeing system that works. they tried that with gears 2 and we all know how well that worked and I don't think they have gone back and looked at it any more. They need to do away with quick and rank and just have one playlist for each game type like other games are doing. It would make more sense for gears to do that since the player base is so small compared to other games. What I mean, would be some sort of true skill system I can handle full teams as long as they are on my level.
^^ Agree with you. Trueskill would have definitely been great for this game. I don't know how many times I ran into stacked teams with a group that ran around shooting chickens on Old Town.
If they did away with the casual and ranked divisions of the community and narrowed down the # of game types which it looks like they have, matchmaking might actually work.
