The zombies aren't neutered by any means, they just aren't the sole focus anymore. And remember, these guys are veterans of the zombie apocalypse. It was only a matter of time before they learned how to handle them efficiently. Humans are good at killing things. Plus, the WD zombies are dumb and slow. Easy targets by themselves. Their biggest fear at this point is the herd of zombies.
And you never read a comic, ever? That's a shame. So many good ones, and not just superhero comics. The Walking Dead is an adult comic and a great story. A very good read.

No good reason to not have read them..just never did. Kid friends never did and adult friends don't. I can't think of a single friend that reads or ever talks about comics. No idea why. I'll have to check one or two out in the apple bookstore...check the demo at least. Probably because I wasn't into super hero stuff as a kid so it didn't appeal and back in the 70s and early 80's not sure what else there was. Maybe Archie or Richie Rich or some other shit like that.

if you have a comic viewer, there are plenty of people who would be willing to share the comic with you via dropbox. Some viewers are free, but the best one, at 4.99 is worth the money.
as for the zombies, you're reaching a point in the series (comic related part at least) where the zombies are only scary in packs/herds. Ammo has become scarce and fighting a large herd has become even more difficult. As for Rick, He's supposed to be loopy for a while. If the daryl and merl story line follows one of some other people in the comic, you'll see them again. Daryll and merl are just conjecture though, because they don't exist in the comic.
I can't stress how different the TV show is from the comics in the character development, but if you know both, you'll see the over-arching stories are pretty much the same. Pay particular attention to Carl from here on out.
Watch the first season. Zombies, would occasionally run, hop 7 foot fences, and take 8 to 10 blows with a bat to the sckull before they stopped moving. Todays zombies are a very pale comparison.
Even in the comics the zombies slow down after awhile and aren't so menacing as they were in year one of the initial outbreak. Hell, the winter is the best time to kill em off because they slow down and most freeze.
Fade, if you're ever interested in the comics, PM me a Dropbox email addy and I'll get you in the share. There are 106 issues now and 107 should be out later this week in time for V-Day! It really is a good read with great story lines. Your appreciation of the show will grow as the show is just different enough to keep everyone interested, but the comics give a little more depth.
One final note, they are going to broadcast the first season in black and white coming this Thursday I think. It's a cool feature as the comics are entirely in black and white except for the cover art.
Agreed. The last 10 minutes were some of the most tense television I've seen in a long time. And Glenn's quote about "Rick wandering crazytown" was great.
I have never missed an episode. I admit the show was starting to lose me a little. But last night was the first time since season 1 that I was glued from start to finish. Great stuff can't wait till next week.
I know why ricks crew had such a hard time shooting them. Its because they were all standing still out in the open. Ricks crew is used to head shoitting slow moving zombies from moving cars, not someone standing still from cover.
And I wouldn't have head shot Axel, I'd of wounded him, so he was sitting in the middle of the yard screaming his head off while everyone else was under attack, and then after it's done, he's another wounded liability/drain on the collective.
So, just how good of friends were Mishonne(sp?) and Andrea last winter? Or, who hasn't Andrea slept with yet?
Was the Governor trying to get rid of Andrea when he let her go to the prison? Did he think she'd return?
Why didn't she shank him when she had the chance? Does she have something else in mind instead?
Just how far can you trust Merle? The only positive thing I can say for him is he knows how bad the Governor is, he knows the Governor's gonna come back, and Merle hasn't left, yet. I know it's slim praise, but it's something?
Will Tyrese realize he's being used? Will the other two in his group break off now that they're in Woodberry, there's already been friction.? Would he realistically care after being run out?
After seeing that scene with the freak out in the prison, I'm not sure he was run out, more like a misinterpretation of who Rick wanted out. I really think Herschel had changed his mind and then he freaked out and yelled at Lori to get out.

Bow chicka bow wow

He didn't know if he could trust her. I think it was sort of a test.

She's torn. She doesn't want anything to happen to her friends, but she also has feelings for the Gov. She either doesn't really know how evil he is, or, most likely, she doesn't want to believe he is

Merle is a survivor. He'll be with you until it no longer suits him. He's shit out of luck with the Gov, so his best chance right now is with his brother and Rick

Yep, I believe so. Something will happen that'll let him see the Gov is a bad, bad dude. The other 2 in the group will either be zombie bait or bullet sponges

From Tyrese and his groups perspective, Rick is crazy and ran them out. But we all know that's not really the case.

The first half of that is arguable. But he seemed to keep it together more this episode.
I love the show, but it's getting predictable. I believe that 2 episodes ago, they were already setting up for this. When Tyrese's group discussed taking over the prison Tyrese was completely against it. Now his group knows exactly how to slip into the prison undetected, if Tyrese did not have his already-established morals he could guide the Governor in and end the entire series right then and there.
I would argue it would be tough to enter that way quietly. That's the only thing I see good about that side over run. It's a barrier of sorts, not a hard barrier but it would slow down an invading force and probably create a ruckus at least alerting someone, hopefully. Hard to say.
When I heard Rick say "go on a run" I assumed he was going to stir some shit, but now I see it must be a supply run, and I'm thinking not just any supplies, he's going for artillery somewhere. I can see not taking Daryl, but I'm wondering why not Glenn? Mishonne needs some vetting so, sure, but Carl instead of Glenn?
As for Carl over Glenn. I think it's just as simple as Rick thinking Carl is ready. Besides, Glenn has just been through some shit. Him and Maggie could use a bit of downtime
I must admit that I am now curious to see where the whole Dixon brothers story develops from here.

First episode in B&W tonight at 8!!
Gonna watch this for sure.
Okay 2nd episode was at 8, WTH?
What do I have to do to see the first episode?
It's a freakin conspiracy!
Where's Wamam?
Caught the first two B&W episodes last night. It was pretty cool, gave it a twilight zone feel.
Now that's how you end an episode!
Much better than last week.
Agreed. The last 10 minutes were some of the most tense television I've seen in a long time. And Glenn's quote about "Rick wandering crazytown" was great.
And we got to see Merle actually has a softer side, however briefly.
Someone needs to explain how a scope works...
All I have to say is, STAY AWAY from Carol, jeez...I'm afraid for Daryl.
I have never missed an episode. I admit the show was starting to lose me a little. But last night was the first time since season 1 that I was glued from start to finish. Great stuff can't wait till next week.
I really liked the "trunk kill". I laughed. Is that wrong??

So, how many bullets DID Axel end up taking?

Yeah, Rick is going to find some firepower.
As for Carl over Glenn. I think it's just as simple as Rick thinking Carl is ready. Besides, Glenn has just been through some shit. Him and Maggie could use a bit of downtime
This episode is a set up for a return to the comic. Instead of totally spoiling it, one of the ideas above is totally spot on.
WOW!
We got to see what became of Morgan!
The Intro scene/exit scene really hammered home just how much everyone has changed.
When Rick put that one bullet in his pocket, did anyone else think "Barney!" besides me?
Yea, I laughed about it too OSS!
It is amazing how much everyone changes. They drove right past that guy on the road but stopped on the way back through to loot the dead body.
You guys think seeing Morgan like that will snap Rick out of his funk?
