This game appears to just be Borderlands 2 (Alien Edition)... It's a class based 4 player co-op game, that works off of XP, etc.. Honestly, I'm still so mad with Borderlands 2, the last thing I want is another ripoff of it, that's already got just as much dlc lined up, so you'll once again, be buying an incomplete game.

here is two hours of live gameplay with Gearbox and IGN

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/28/ign-live-presents-aliens-colonial...

If it's like Borderlands then it is the best possible thing that could have ever happened to Borderlands.

I don't know where people are comparing this to Borderlands 2, only for the simple fact that Gearbox Software is the developer of the game; I mean the storyline which is suppose to be a true sequel to after the events of James Cameron's "Aliens" is enough to entice me. But the multiple player reminds me a lot of Left 4 Dead, the only difference it's Colonial Marines vs Xenomorphs, it's like it could be a blast; plus the collector in me had to go and shell out for the Collector's Edition (LOL)

I'm a Giger/Aliens fan so I may be a little biased but it has to be better then that AVP game.

I've actually played the multiplayer, or at least one of the multiplayer modes.  The one i played is the left 4 dead style one where it's humans vs xenomorphs, the humans have to make it to the checkpoint while the aliens need to eat them.  The checkpoints are restock rooms where you pick up ammo and grenades and what not, you can heal your downed players too or just leave them as bait.  The xenomorphs get to choose differet types of aliens from what i've seen and can of course climb up structures, jump. lunge, come out of small places and surprise you.  It was awesome fun just like L4D the original was and since L4D was GOTY for me the year it came out, i'm really looking forward to Aliens.

I can't wait to pick this up on Tuesday; even though I'll probably won't get to try it out until the weekend, due to medical school and exams (LOL); but I read an interesting article about this game a way back (wish I had the link) which stated that the development team talked with Ridley Scott about the whole "Alien" universe including" Prometheus", so could that mean that in the campaign mode of the game, not only to you explore of what is left of the colony on LV-426, but in fact return to the alien spaceship first encountered by Ripley and her crew in the original "Alien" ??

Also I loved that the development team talked with the production and set design teams of both Alien & Aliens, to discuss any material that was left out of those two films, hence new weaponry and other gear that was to be implemented into the films but never were, so yes folkes that means standard Pulse Rifles and the a newer modulized one that can have multiple attachments placed on it; and from what I saw in a video just recently it looks like you can hop into a power loader as Ripley did to fight off the queen in Aliens; it would be even cooler if we can operate a few vehicles as well??

On the official Gearbox website they have already stated that the first DLC for the Aliens: Colonial Marines will in fact include content for the campaign, but also at least 3 new MP maps, and as stated by other people that have ahd the priviledge of actually trying out the multiplayer; that it plays quite like Left 4 Dead, and I loved that game; if I happen to be online Saturday and anybody wants to play some multiplayer, drop me a line.

WOW Gameinformer review hit this morning and they gave it a 4.00. I was curious about this game but a 4.00 is pretty hard to overlook. They listed many graphical and framerate issues as well as very poor weapon balancing (Which is odd from Gearbox. I really am disapointed to hear this news. I mean damn I think Kinect Star Wars got a 4.5

All the reviws of this game really suck ass.  The 6 hour campaign that doesn't answer anything or really tell a story, the visuals are BAD on consoles Xbox1 quality bad, the AI is stupid and there's no redeeming qualities it's just a run of the mill shooter.  Multiplayer is uninspired except for escape mode which only has two maps playable.

How do they go from the awesome that is Borderlands to shitting out this?  I have the collectors edition all paid off too.... guess i'll be calling gamestop and telling them to sell it to some other sucker.

Yep, this is what I was worried about after reading some early release reviews over the weekend. Guess I'll pick up something used or discounted until something worth it comes out. Dont know how Gearbox let this one ship the way it is

My brother got it, played it, and returned it all in the same day. He said it was BAD BAD. This is such a bummer, could have been a great game. I want to try it so bad but will wait for the price to drop which doesn't sound like will be long. I have a personal rule to never buy a game that has an average review score below 5 and it hasn't failed me yet. Such a shame.

It's not bad at all.  The sewer mission is lame in SP but other than that, I personally can't complain.  I'm not a graphics junkie, but a game must be entertaining and this one is for me.

Rumors suggest development sucked from the start.  Game was shelved, handed around between developers, complete redos, etc..  Sounds like DNF Junior.

That honestly sounds exactly like all the big AAA titles coming in March...  Tomb Raider, Bioshock and to a lesser degree Gears.  The first two are more than a year dealyed and been redone multiple times.  Gears on the other hand has been farmed out to another dev and a lot of big names involved with gears to this point have left.  As big as the titles coming out in march are.... sound slike they should all be passed on.  SimCity is coming out in March though for PC... Hmm......

You are 100% right. Its no secret that the holidays are the prime release window and more often the games that come out in Feb Mar are games that got delayed and could not make the holiday window. I have Bioshock Infinite preordered but must admit am worried that it might fail to be good.

Tombraider was suppose to come out Holiday 2011.  I don't remember the initial release date of Infinite, but i do remember they were hyping the crap out of it then suddenly they said they won't be talking about it anymore it had a TBD release date.  That lasted for a while, 6-9 months or so and then they started hyping it again and announced March.  There's been layoffs / employee turnover at Irratoinal and Rod from Epic went over ther to work.  So there's just been a lot of development irruptions in all of these AAA march titles.  for me, Bioshock being a single player only game, i don't NEED to pick that up day 1, i can wait and see if it's a polished turd or not and it doesn't affect me one way or the other.

Alrighty it's time for me to give my 2 cents worth on Alien: Colonial Marines; first off there have been other shooters that are far more god awful then this; what frustrates me the most is how this game was so f@#$ing hyped by a lot of these game websites (IGN for instance) practically blowing their load over the bloody thing!!!

As for the actual gameplay, the A.I for your squadmates is non-existant, they are so stupid, constantly getting in my line of fire, at least I can depend on my brother when we played the campaign co-operatively, another huge problem is line of site firing, I have had quite a few enemies dead to rights and miss consistently, so of course you play with the sensitivity to fine tune everything, it's helped a bit, as for the storyline I'm not too far into the game to know what is going on, so I can't comment if it answers questions to James Cameron's movie???

Whether or not future patches and the includement of upcoming DLC will improve things is beyond me?? but when I found out that the game was actually handled by 3rd party development team and not GearBox Studios as was proclaimed in the past, not really impressed, I mean Borderlands 2 is a whole lot of fun, so why does it feal like that game engine wasn't used at all???

As for other upcoming games, I'm not too worried about Bioshock Infinite, if Ken Levine wasn't involved I would have passed on it, just like I did with Bioshock 2, as for Tomb Raider I hope it's as great as it's being demoed to be (have down payment on that one, as well  as Bioshock Infinite); and I am absolutely not concerned with Naughty Dog taking extra time on "The Last of Us", they haven't failed to disappoint me yet. I know I've had a few friends telling me that I should have purchased Dead Space 3 instead of Alien: Colonial Marines, and that's good and all, however the horror game that I love in the very first one has been replaced with the same Action Survivor nonsense as the direction the Resident Evil Series went into, so those end up becoming bargain bin purchases later down the road.

But hey at least I ended up with a pretty cool statuefrom Alien: Colonial Marines (LOL)

The bad news for this game just keeps coming. There is a story on Gameinformer.com right now where people are reporting that game saves are coming up missing.

Well I experienced the very prolem that was mentioned with saved games, so I decided to part company with the game, and brought a few other older titles to GameStop and traded them all in for credit; I am extremely disappointed and pissed off with Gearbox for this entire "Aliens: Colonial Marines" fiasco, hell I tweeted Randy Pitchford and blasted him for deceiving the consumer, believing the product was being handled by the same development team as Borderlands.

Couldn't believe all the returned copies of the game, there had to have been at least 30 copies on the used game wall, thank god I didn't shell out for the season pass or I would be really ticked off, and now there are a few future games coming out that look good, but I'm absolutely staying away from, one such case is the upcoming "Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel", when EA laysoff the entire studio behind an upcoming game there's usually a reason why, and I'm glad I played a few demos recently because I would have felt really stupid buying a few titles that were just released; sorry but Metal Gear Revengeance doesn't turn me on at all, and Crysis 3 looks fantastic, but it's the same bloody thing again.

If you look at the demos shown at E3 though and compare it to the game that shipped, it's pretty blatant fals advertising.   Even the PC version doesn't look as good as the footage we were shown and told was 'in game footage'.

Gearbox is screwing themselves over from both sides. As a franchise holder looking for a developer to take my IP to video games and I look at non BOrderlands stuff that Gearbox has done...  I think i'd be looking at someone else to partner with.   As a consumer looking to buy games, we had Borderlands 1 which was awesome, then we had Duke which was shit, then BOrderlands 2 which was awesome and now A:CM which is shit.  It's hard for me to know what type of quality i'm buying if Gearbox is on the cover.

I don't have a problem with a dev farming out part s of the code to other devs to do, theoretically it could lead to a better product for the gamers.  Problem is those devs you farm out to need to be about the same quality as the primary dev, Gearbox seems to shop for the cheapest crappies devs to farm out to figuring they can spit and polish it before shipping.

I'm getting the feeling that all three (SEGA, Gearbox, and Time Gate) deserve nearly equal portions of this turd.  Although ultimately the responsibility falls on GEarbox.

I kind of hope there are lawsuits against Gearbox.  Hopefully it'll make them a better company by actually being directly involved in the development of games they put their name on.  And make them think twice before they farm shit out, in my mind they're one of the worst for not actually working on content that has their name attached to it.  They farm out all the borderlands DLC, farmed out A:CM and Duke was basically developed by someone else, GBox just assembled and shipped.  They have some awesome talent there, i wish they'd use more of it on projects.

Honestly, I no longer think this dev is worth a pinch of shit. If you take away Borderlands, all they got is Brothers in Arms(produced by Ubisoft and it wouldn't supprise me if they helped). Brothers in Arms was only good for a little while and then that went to shit too. Well, they did come out with 9 versions of the game in 3-4 years.

I dont think Gearbox was ever any good really. They had a couple good IP and one they beat to death. It could be said Gearbox rode the coat tails of class opperations like Valve and Bungie just to get their start.
