For 2 guys who job/hobby is to test and review games they really don't do much in depth ones other than iracing.
I had a chuckle with the 2nd response to that clip...
" i think rf2 could become the the best drifting game due to its great physics" funny cause its not the first time I've heard that from drifting fans.
I tried the new tire slip physic for the gt cars in pcars...ran the m3 gt around hockenhiem it felt pretty good alot better than before but still needs some tweaking.
Raceroom..well iam a. Bit disappointed not with the game but the fact that I was. In the closed beta and got to test alot of content and now that its open beta I only get 2 cars more than the steam teaser:( although for. someone on a budget it will make a good substitute for iracing.
1 gripe I have about all them is none of them have barely any base content cars I enjoy so iam stuck waiting for mods for rf2 or ac. Only positive news to date is the btcc Honda and 4 btcc tracks for iracing but no word on a date.
In all honesty not one game yet has blown me away...they all seem to do 1 or 2 things better than the next but not 1 has the full package yet ?
Saw this limerock comparison today, minus the chainlink ontop of the gaurd rail before entering the last turn its absolutely bang on! very nicely done :)
Yup, just shows Lazer scanning is not the be all and end all. They spent a lot of time at the track, and as can be seen there got it bang on. It is the last track released and the best looking to date.
Keep your eyes on the GBR forums over the next couple weeks. Some of the guys are going to be doing some rF2 exhibition races, as we go in between seasons. Let me know if you want to get in on it. Most will take place on weeknights, probably around 7:15-7:30pm (PST) start times. I don't think there will be a lot, but there is talk of a couple anyways.
If iam correct i believe iracing only scans the track surface and curbs and then fills in the rest. The one thing i like about the scanning is that every road bump and curb heigth is implimented and the tinniest bump can change the whole dynamics of a corner. Theres been alot of tracks ive ran in other sims were ive able to to take a turn or elevation change at full tilt, but in iracing ive had to change my approach or line to carry as much speed through just due to little bumps or curb differences, but none the less this track looks great :)
I think every major race way should have laser scanned data available for devs and modders to gain access to for a cost. Having exact track detail feedback with a powerful physics engine is what all hardcore simmers are seeking. But thats just my opinion, iam one of the odd guys that enjoys learning the details of the tracks, rather than playing to race in my dream car
Awh, simracing bromance :)
One day ill make it overseas to catch a btcc race...its on my bucket list, my. Wifes dad is from Scotland, and have family in london, and peterbouro near silverstone....we were supposed to go to yrs ago for the btcc final but due to a volcano erupting it kind of put a damper on flying. Weve been talking of a Europe trip for a bit and hitting ireland as well as thats were my family is from, but first is Australia in 2015
Ya it was bummer I was pretty excited to go, we ended up in mexico instead.
Ill get rf2 for sure iam just waiting for some cars i like to be released, currently the only car that some what interests me is the 370z but not enough to make me purchase it yet...the main reason really is the damn cost of iracing! Any word of when the btcc ford is due for release or any other touring cars in the works?
No but there is much fun to be had with some of the other cars, historix are great fun, though the F1, is well beyond me, F3 don't take too long to get the hang of and the Clios are a gas, Renault is okay too.
Mexico...cool, closest I have got is New Mexico and got killed by a chille, my hosts thought I was into hot food and ordered a real hard core dish...I was not at all prepared for what came, I don't actually like hot chillies and curries so when I started eating this one...well it was not a pretty sight
I know ive said this before but I think today is the day ill buy rf2 ! :) gonna hold off on iracing content and just run the gbr events. I only need 5 more road tracks and iam trying to hold out for the annual 2 iracing dollars for $1 sale than purchase the rest i need
As long as its base is better than rf1 i should be happy :) Personally there wasnt 1 aspect of rf1s base content that really impressed me I am just glad for all the community mods that were available to completly revamp and fix all the issues to make the game enjoyable.
Ill be downloading and reporting back shortly once the wife takes the kids to gym :)
Does the install come with any content or do i have to download and install it, cause i got nothing atm....i put a couple mods in packages file but only the vette will work and i have no tracks
Yes it comes very much like rF1 lite, so go here http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2dl/ and download all the ISI content. Place as usual in the packages folder, don't be tempted to skip any as at the moment some things are cross dependent. This will change in some future build when base content is updated.
Oh just about to have dinner but after that I will be on the rig so we could get together on teamspeak if you have any questions, so much quicker than typing :)
Excellent, now best track mods to add are anything by Feels3, Croft and Poznan come to mind. Mid Ohio of course...I'll have a look at what else I have that is worth having.
That is where I went last night to get mid ohio, snetterton, croft, spa(Botniaring) and monza (Brianza). I also got the Vette and Skip Barber cars from there too.
These are the two from feels3 Poznan being the latest. He is the man and when you think he has been at this for only six or seven months it makes you wonder what he will be doing in a couple of years. He is working on Interlagos at the moment.
That link is to a constantly updated torrent for every track avaliable, now there is good and bad in there, but it is the best way of seeing everything and making your own mind up about what you may enjoy driving

Thanks for the heads up Helios.

I had a long reply to this but somehow on the screen it looked more argumentative than I wanted, wish we could sit round a table with a pint or two..
If we did Knight I think we would be there for a ver long time!
Your not wrong mate, it is a damn shame we are all such a long way apart, though one of these days I suspect you and I may just get together IRL.
Hah that Volcano almost trapped me on Malta, just got the last flight home before they were all grounded.

ROFL Knight!
The wife loves Currys ect but a massive no no for me.
Steak and chips please.
In regards to meeting up IRL I keep quoting jobs to Ireland cheap. Free trip then
Heh yeh I am a steak and chips man myself, like things simple and tasting of what they are.
Be a gas if you got a trip over for free,
Heh I wait with trepadation.
