Neverwinter Open Beta
http://nw.perfectworld.com/news/?p=849741
The Neverwinter open beta is hitting Apr. 30th. Also, they are claiming "no wipes" after Apr. 25th. That means you keep your Beta toons.
Beta Weekend 4 lands this week if you are interested in a Founder's pack.
You playing? I plan on trying it out once open beta hits myself.
On another note I have a friend who is in the final fantasy beta for a world reborn, he hasnt played much as its only beta weekends and his wife is addicted to it so steals his comp when it is going on but it sounds like they have made a bunch of improvements. Godd going Squeenix. *Golf Clap*
I will be playing the open beta for Neverwinter. I already have the client.
Just says TBA 2013. They are doing the first stress test. I would guess there will be a couple more.
Quick reminder here. The client is available for download and the beta patch is available.
The beta is playable as early as the 25th with the founders packs. 30th is the date for the rest of us.
cool beans. once I get home this weekend I will have to download it
Acording to the website, the beta is live. Once I get home I shall fire it up.
Long ass wait to get in. The game played smooth with no lag. The city itself seems like a giant lobby. The dungeons that I played were instanced so there were no ninja looters.
So far, I enjoyed what played. It is very fast paced action.
We look forward to more impressions!
One thing that impressed was the fact that GMs are there to answer in game questions, in public chat!
I had my first major glitch though... The game sound went "wonkey" for a second. Then the client quit all together. I filled out the beta report and went to log back in. The whole process took about a minute. If I was fighting though I would have been dead.
Speaking of being dead, I died for the first time at level 10. I died due to lack of planning. See my job type is a Warrior. You would think that as a D&D warrior I would be handy with ranged weapons. Nope, I run a 2 handed sword and nothing else. In fact, I can’t equip a different weapon type that I know of. So, I have no natural healing and no way to avoid combat. I somehow confused the little “5” on my hotkey for number of healing potions I had. That was a bad time for me to zerg a room full of Kobolds with 2 mini bosses, a pile of archers and a floor boss. Not for nothing I came back, whooped that floor boss’s ass and he dropped a purple lock box.
The trouble with the lock boxes are you need the magic keys to open them. You need Zeni to buy magic keys. Unfortunately, Zeni is also RMT. RMT is of course, Real Money Transaction. The game is free to play after all so you knew this was coming. I have not looked into how much this stuff really costs.
The controls work smooth. It reminds me of playing FPS games with a KB/Mouse. WASD is your movement with A/D being strafe. You look and target with your mouse. Instead of the wheel being weapon select, it is zoom. Left key is a combo style fast attack while the right button is a 3 tier charge attack. I set potions to number buttons 3, 4 & 5. I set a sweep attack to the Q, an AoE to E and my “daily” to 1. This is the first MMO type game in a long time where I am not using a KB with programmable macros. The controls are easy to learn, game play is smooth and the sounds get repetitive over time. Overall, the game has been fun to play. I have not tried to do PvP or PvE group events, dungeons or raids yet.
I moved to a different section of the city and it was overrun with MOBs. All of which were hostile. Only one part of the city seems to be the main adventure hub. The city itself seems to be quite expansive with multiple districts. There seem to be a decent number of areas outside the city gates and who knows how deep the caverns run beneath the mountains or the city.
I am on the Beholder server.
So far I like what I have done in the game. The game is action heavy. Unless something changes, I am going to give the game a thumbs up. Beefy and I have been chatting some about it here:

If we get enough 2old peeple, I will be happy to start a guild.
Well, this kinda explains why there were some people bitching. For what it is worth, this game runs smooth for me.

Neverwinter launches June 20th, 2013. The game is fun to play and is eating up about all of my game time.
I need to hop in this one more.....I've got a couple toons started on 2 different servers, though haven't gotten very far with either at the moment.
GW2 has been eating up all my non-racing free time.
I know man! You guys all gave it such good comments. I am moving again here soon and need to get the money together for that but once I have some spare cash I may need to pick it up.
I do want to fire it up again though and try to make a little headway w/ my cleric. I was having some fun, but it was real late when I started, so headed off to bed after I got through the intro mission.
