[DEF} Anyone notice a lot of generic characters?
I'm trying to figure out if this is an anti-lag measure or just lazy people skipping the character creation step to get into the game faste.r
But lately I'm seeing a whole lot of male soldiers in the same ammo, same haircut, same everything . Only thing different is their title. I think it's an anti-lag measure because I know Evil Claws character and tonight in-game he appeard as a generic instead of his customized character.
If you spend the time to pick a title then i'm sure you've spent the time to at least pick armor and headgear if not customized their avatar. But at arkfalls like everyone will be this generic avatar but then i'll see 3 or 4 customized avatars which seems to indicate lazy character creation but i just dunno. I just never noticed so many generics running around before.
I'm one of the lazy ones. One my loudouts is just the generic female character. The other loadout I put clothes and a hat on her (lawmaker?). I was playing with someone from 2o2p last night and his character wasn't generic at the arkfalls.
I really didn't notice I could change my characters appearance until this week. Maybe others didn't notice either.
I don't think it's a load issue, i mean yes stream in can cause this issue. But you're fighting at an arkfall for 5-10 minutes so everything is loaded. And EvilClaw was also fully loaded, he was shopping and managing inventory going from one vender to another and his character remained the generic dood. So I did consider it's spawn in but ruled it out, unless it's actually a loading glitch and the characters get stuck in generic mode.
I'm playing this on Xbox, I do see different looking people, but I think that because there isn't a wide range of custom character options that this leads to lots of people wearing the same stuff. I've unlocked a few costumes and even bought from the vendors a few helmets but have to be honest I don't like any of them. So I'm stuck for now with the lawkeeper get up.
Well, just to add to conversation, have only 2 characters and both are female with white hair. Tank kept saying I was a guy and I saw my character as I made it on my screen. So it could be a way to adjust for lag and that would suck if nobody else but you saw your customizations.
I believe this is an anti-lag measure after what I saw tonight. I had three friends in one of the towns, i was grouped up with one and his character appeared like it should. But everyone else in the town was Generic Joe, including my other two friends who were not grouped up with use. Once they accepted the group invite, bam, their customizations spawned in. And from their screens it was the opposite, we were Generic Joes and once we all grouped up, our avatars spawned their customizations.
It makes sense to do it that way.
I wonder if it hurts sales any when people discover only they can see their own customizations, everyone else just sees generic joe.
That's strange.
I always see different custom outfits running around the world.
I will pay more attention at the next Arkfall though as I'm usually focused on just staying vertical during those.
