I read that they filmed the planet scenes in 975 acre landfil just outside Mexico City and it was so toxic that the crew had to wear latex gloves and gas masks
There's a slew of sci-fi movies this year that I want to see. The last couple years has been minimal in purchasing theater tickets and blu-rays, but this year may hurt the pocket book. Elysium is on that list...unless it receives terrible reviews.
What's on your list? I don't go to the theatre but I savor every moderately decent sci-fi and I'll buy the B-ray if it's a good bet.
Here's all the movies I'm interested in watching this year. Not all are sci-fi, but many are or have sci-fi related elements:
-Oblivion (definitely sci-fi)
-Iron Man 3
-Man of Steel
-World War Z
-Thor: The Dark World
-Star Trek Into Darkness (self explanatory)
-Ender's Game
-After Earth
-Elysium
-Riddick
And this list doesn't include the non-sci-fi films I want to see like Despicable Me 2, Kick Ass 2, Anchorman 2, and maybe Monsters University. So yes, it will be an expensive cinematic year for me.
Afetr Earth is not my cup of tea. It's supposed to be a Sci-Fi but its more like a kid trying to escape Jurassic park. Plus teh star is Will Smith's son, the boy that fucked up Karate Kid for everyone. I'm definitely skipping this one.
