Need help with everything from tunning to paint job.

Hey guys, just want to put this up before I forget to say anything. Been having problems with my tuning and it just annoying when my car starts to slowly slip through the pack and end up running by my self. I also been trying to make some really nice but there are some of these cars need an expert touch. My driving in my opinion might need some help too. But if there is anyone that can help me with all my problems would be much appreciated since all this is overwhelming me and sometimes forces me to just play another game.

Tony, you have probably heard this before...alot. Get seat time. Run leaderboard laps, in circut.  You will race your ghost and you can see where you can make time up and where you are losing it. If you get in some rooms with us and you see a tune you like, just ask.  If you have a car you would like a tune for let me know, I am not real good at it but you can have anything I have, message me.

First and formost get seat time to learn the tracks Sometimes I get board but I will get into a rhythm and times drop.  Chase a ghost. Tunes don't mean to much if you don't know the tracks

I never knew you were having problems Tony. Like Jimee said, feel free to ask any of us for our tunes, paints, tips, or even help. If you want, send a car or 2 my way of yours that your having problems with and I'll take a look at them. Just let me know your preferences for your car (ie stiff/soft suspension, gearing, etc). If I can't figure it out, I know a number of people who can.

Cotter's driving school is a great way to learn what your doing wrong from Cotter himself. If he's not available and I am, let me know, I'll follow you and let you know your issues the best I can.

Racing with people and learning their lines, passing techniques, and how they race is another way to get better. Just don't try too hard, otherwise you'll get frustrated and make more mistakes. And watch who your following too, some of us are great to watch and follow, but some guys in this group are just too fast. Cobra, JonnyFocus, Trackassn, and MaxPerforma for example, you'll be able to hang with for awhile if you keep with them, but they will take off if you make a mistake. They are VERY CONSISTANT good drivers. Sometimes being fast doesn't always cut the cheese. People make mistakes, and if your consistant, calm, and collective, you'll win races or at least place high. I'd say the car makes 15%, tuning, 10%, and driver skill/consistancy is the other 75% of determining who wins a race.

Keep at it, ask for help, and don't get frustrated. We are a community for the mature/immature gamer. We won't laugh at you (ok, yes, we will), we wont scold you for making mistakes, and we'll do everything we can to help you win races (except just stopping at the line to let you win, wins are earned not given).

And lastly, Remember after all is said and done at the end of the day, it is just a game. 1

P.S. HLR_KING COBRA has a tuning calc you can D/L and play with. It's easy to understand and it's free. All he asks in return is your feedback to help make it better. You can get it in this thread - http://www.2old2play.com/forum/group-forums/2old4forza/tuning-painting-racecraft/tuning-calc-497634 . If you need help using it, feel free to ask me or cobra directly. Cobra is fast but modest, he'll help you anyway he can.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to try Jimee's advice, then if that don't work then I'll ask Cotter to help me out. One thing is for sure it is nopt the tracks, I olayed this game for so long, restarted it three times due to my memory corrupting. I will try tuning with the calc that Cooter recommended but I think it doesn't work with my computer. Last I would like a recommendation of someone who can help me with my designs. Thanks again fellas and hope to see you guys out there today.17

Microsoft Excel? Android phone? Iphone? All will support the calculator.

I was you in the beginning . I went from Forza groups to Forza groups with your same mind set. Take it from me you will learn a lot from here , from racing and painting  techniques to  just good friends and good old chat. At first it will feel like your not learning anything .Like the previous post, " seat time!" . Focus on one thing and then move on . Trying to tune/race and paint all at once is no easy task . Work on your weakest points first and then go from there. I'm a much better painter then a racer . Because of this group I have become a much better driver and even a better painter. Any painting tips that you need let me know. Good luck ! See you on the track !

What ink and cooter said exactly! Just racing with this bunch will force you to improve. Be patient! You're not gonna beat this group out of the gate! Im still tail end charlie but things are improving. My first go around my only goal was not to get lapped. Next, stick with the pack. Then not finish last which im still doing most of the time but every now and then im not. Learn and ask from this group...IT WILL HELP!

Not to raise the dead or anything, but I'm in a similar boat (thus my problem, should be behind the wheel of a car... LOL). Truth, I know shit about cars. Only thing I can tell you about the difference between a '69 Mustang & a '98 Eclipse is the model name & year. Anyway, I really appreciate what everyone has done so far - hooking me up with a few cars & tunes, getting me connected with some clan mates. I'm glad you're all there to help.

That being said, in addition to racing & such, I'd like to learn how to tune. I'm wondering where you guys picked it up - if you learned from each other, if you used an online tuning calculator, stuff like that. I'd gladly sacrifice a virgin for gaining the ability to tune. I also suck at painting, but have had fun with a few minor 8-bit characters. I wouldn't mind getting better at that either, but I'd rather go with "function over flash" at this point.

The thing I found  is that it's my tunes, not my driving. I know I make mistakes but my tunes are just crap. I have had big problem with my tunes for a while. And now I just can't find the right tune or the right setting. I just don't try anymore. 53

I'm trying to figure it out too... except I know my driving sucks. I can't even stay on the road.  LOL

There's a D class Fairlady '69 tune ( maybe a dozen of them by track) running around herebouts that is damn near perfection and a lot of the guys have them. Have someone on your friends list send you one to look at the tune and see what makes it tick.

I have a generic set od settings I start with, but truly fine tuning a tune varies by car, track and driving style honestly.

Its all about knowing what each setting does and knowing what the car needs before you start adjusting. If you adjust 1 thing you almost certainly have to adjust something else.

You can put a base tune on a car but until you take it on track and drive it you dont know how to set it. Each car is different so a tune on 1 car may not work on another.

Dont be frightened to ask, if its for a series car then you can almost cetainly get a tune from a few people including the person hosting the event, if its for a car in your garage you use still ask, you might find someone that has the tune already on their SF or willing to help.

We'll get you sorted Jedi. It's best to stick with Non-adjustable sport suspensions builds until one learns how to drive imo. Otherwise you may be trying to tune the car around your bad driving habits. Learning how to adapt to a non-adjustable setup will make you a better all-around driver. Once you have some experience with different cars, you will find certain cars "feel" better than others. This is when you should start tuning.

I also suggest driving other peoples tunes. This will also give you a better idea of what to shoot for when building a car. Try stuff from the club garage, when you come across something you really like, message the person who shared the car & ask for a copy of the tune. When they gift it over, it will be unlocked, so you can look at the way they built & tuned it. then you can apply those cocepts to your own cars.

Collisions & off-roading... bad habits, right?  LOL   I hear ya on all that, Cotter. I'm way out of my comfort zone & am actually finding a lot of this interesting... just gotta take the time to understand it. As for tunes, Sarcasmo gave me some along with the cars they were created for.

Anytime there's a car that you're interested in trying, post up here & ask before buying a locked storefront tune. Chances are, someone here has already built what you are looking for or can get it built in short order.

Another option os to host a tuning contest. Promise a modest payout to the top 3-3 entires & then you can try several different peoples builds & find what works best for you. Slow & steady wins the race.

Hey Tony I'll hook you up with some that are pretty good. I'm not known as a tuner like max but If I send it out it's usually pretty darn good.

Last time I did this though it was with Grim and he is constantly up my ass w/speed now. Some tracks he's faster...SOB.angry

Last night, I was messing around with Paint, and I created something I thought was pretty cool for a noob. May post the pic later... but it brought up a question. Say I took an already-created logo and changed up the colors... any problems with that? It fit into an overall design I was donig. I'm not going to post it to the Marketplace or anything.  :)

That's the whole idea of sharing unlocked logos. so you can re-color them if you like. Perfectly fine to post to your SF. I wouldn't suggest simply taking someone elses full design & just changing colors, but re-doing a logo isn't really stealing if you asked me.

I just don't want this one available on the SF because I threw it on the cheapest car I could think of (VW Rabbit) as a little experiment... but the overall design I'm proud of. Looking forward to posting it up so I can puff out my chest & be like, "Yeah, I did that."  LOL!

Some replica paints will use a logo that is slightly different to the logo your use to seeing i.e Dunlop, Michelin etc as they sometimes change the colour or add to it. Instead of making a new logo yourself then the logos are there to ungroup and change accordingly. Occasionally you will come across a logo that we dont have so then you have to make it yourself from scratch. If you dont have a logo you want always ask as some of us have hundreds of them, some custom made.
