Anyone interested? MultiClass R1 and R3
Anyone interested? MultiClass R1 and R3
Would be a Sunday night thing at about 9pm Eastern. Cars: R1 - Audi R18 ( with upgrade to PI 998) vs Peugeot 908. 6 cars in this class. R3 - 458 Italia, Gallardo, 911GT3 RSR, FORD GT, #4 Corvette. 10 cars in this class Some of the R3 cars would need a couple of upgrades to make them competitive with each other. But the builds would not boost them fully to a PI of 800. Most likely just up the 458 Italia which has a PI of 763. We can do an exhibition race this Sunday if anyone is interested. Road Atlanta for 25 laps. Cosmetic damage if anyone is concerned about that. My lap times in the R1 cars there are at the 1:12 mark. The R3 cars are fast but the prototypes would still lap them in relatively short time. Anyone interested in helping me test or who wants to try this out before the exhibition just let me know.
EDIT 5-2-2013:
#2 Audi R18 TDI- remove restrictors - use the first option and PI will go to 998 which will bring it up to spec with the Peugeot 908.
#10 Matmut -Oreca Peugeot 908 - no upgrades, PI 998 in stock trim.
#40 Ford GT Mk7 - upgrade to race brakes. PI763
#08 Gallardo LP560-4 - upgrade to race brakes, upgrade front tire width to 320/30R18. PI763
#045 Flying Lizard/#17 Falken Tire 911 GT3 RSR - upgrade to race brakes, upgrade front tires to 305/30R18
#4 Corvette Racing ZR1 - upgrade to Race Brakes, front tires to 320/30R18 and rear tires to 335/40R18, race driveline upgrade
#62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia - no upgrades, car is fast in capable hands
These are tentative set ups. If any particular car in this group has a severe performance advantage or disadvantage I will look at other R3 cars as subs. I would like two cars from each make but people want to drive what they like so I am cool with that. I just don't want to see a one make Cup Series. There is plenty of that already. I don't have any tunes but I highly recommend driving the cars in the stock set up to get the initial feel for these things. Tuners feel free to share if you'd like. Also, two car teams would be nice but no more than two cars per team please. Thanks.
If anyone sees me running a lobby I am probably testing these so feel free to join me. I think I am done with street cars for a while.
Id be willing to give it a try.
I've been running alot of R3 but at max PI Snap. Especially the Panoz's...and especially Road Atlanta...
I hear you Oldschool. What I'm trying to do is keep the R3's manageable for the less experienced who may want to run and also slow them down so that the R1's can lap them at least once, maybe twice per, race.
Interested drivers should check the first post periodically for details on how to upgrade each car. Working on that now.
I'll try to get in a room with you soon. I wouldn't mind trying out either class. Neither class really get's raced. I wouldn't mind trying R1. The challenge of flying around a track that quick, then to top it off with traffic. Beautiful. Count me in for practice at the least.
Exhibition Race this Sunday night at 8:30 pm EST. Road Atlanta - 15 laps. My best lap times in the R18 TDI are in the 1:12's. My best times in the Vette are 1:23's. no assists. Race my ghost on the leaderboards.
Cooter. We can do 9pm. There does not seem to be much interest. There is so much going on here, you know?
I will probably do a few exhibition races to help generate interest before I start any series.
If my schedule allows I will try to jump on. Please just throw the tunes on your SF. Then I can jump in and run with you guys.
there are no tunes as of yet. Just the builds outlined above in the OP.
Nice! I don't use any assists either. They are actually not as tricky to drive as I expected. Hope some guys join in tonight in the R3 cars so I can get an idea of what it's like when lapping/getting lapped.
Getting on in a few minutes. Going to run some practice races so folks can get a feel for the cars then do a 15 lap race. Shouldn't take long with the speed of these cars. Track is Road Atlanta for tonight.
I thought that was great racing tonight. This would be an awesome series with a full lobby. The R1 cars looked set to lap the R3 cars just about every 5 to 6 laps. I planned on making the events 25 laps once the series got started. The races would get very interesting with all this traffic to manage.
I'm hoping to have 6 R1 drivers and 10 R3 drivers for a full lobby. Check the OP for information on the builds for the eligible cars. Most of these cars are DLC and I'm sorry for that but the non DLC cars are still very competitive. These are the two non DLC cars:
R1 #10 Peugeot 908
R3 #40 Ford GT Mk 7
Next exhibition race is Sunday May 13th @ 9pm, Mugello. The R3 cars will have a 30 second Roll off delay at this track.
Thanks to: imjimmeez, Cooter, Prebuilt, Grim and nunderwoob for helping me out tonight.
Opposite. R1's take off and then the R3s's go 30 seconds later.
I'm in. With some tuning those R3 cars are NICE.
Why the 30 sec delay for R3s? Just asking. To enable passing earlier on?
I can say I enjoyed myself moreso in the R1 Class last night. So I'll stick there for your testing Snappy. Just something about taking corners between 130-200 MPH that gets my blood pumping. Something you don't get to do in your everyday race. Also after you left last night I ran Atlanta again with your same setup but with a number of fresh faces to see how they liked it. And it seemed to be a hit with them as well. Driveby and 1 other person (i'm sorry I can't remember who it was) were hitting high 1:09- low 1:10s with traffic along with me. Can't wait for the next event. Mugello........
Glad to hear some more drivers got to try it. Low 1:09's is rediclulously fast! Don't think I can hit those times. 1:11's is my best so far.
With times like that from the R1's it sounds like 30 seconds is too long of a roll off delay. I'll shorten it to 15 seconds.
what?
No no no...I drive them with no assists but drivers can use whatever assists they want. I WILL NOT BE FORCING OFF ANY ASSISTS. It's rumors like that which causes the loss of potential drivers. Also, there will be NO handicapping at all either.
Tentative Track List:
Maple Valley
Mazda Laguna Seca
Mugello
Road Atlanta
Road America
Le Mans
Sebring
Silverstone
Anyone going to be around tonight to join me in testing at some tracks? One that I want to add is Sedona Club. Tight track with quick lap times.
Has anyone tried these on their own?
I'm in for the series Snappy. I will drive the (R3) #08 Gallardo LP560-4.
Awesome! I am working on a livery for that car. I'll send it over when its done. You don't have to run the livery if you don't want to. I just like to share.
Maybe we could run a few of these after the Escort race tonight?
That would be awesome! I'll get on at about 10:00 pm EST and set up a lobby. Anyone interested can jump in.
Thanks a lot to the guys who ran some races with me. Especially after a long night of racing. Got some good feedback about the cars and will try to address those for the test session this Sunday night at Mugello. See you there.
Sorry Snappy I had to bail out.....I've been playing most of the day and my hands hurt like crazy
