Hey Caduceus...
Stupid question but I'm going to swallow my pride and ask anyhow. Last I looked I was/am a member of the FoF group but how does that factor back into finding folks to play multi on different games with (or doesn't it)?
Thanks!
Using the x_2old2RPG_x friend, you should be able to see gamers "through" that login that are online. Though since I que up that ID about once every three months, I am not sure how useful that feature is.
It is useful enough. When you are on XBL, go to the FOF and check it. Tab over to the bio page and click on the view friends tab.
From there, you can view friends almost like they were yours. I like to include a "got you off the FoF" unless I played with them before.
I'm trying to streamline the forum a bit - making an all-inclusive initial post.
Let me know what you think.
I have joined another AFOF group, ME3, and I have seen the other players (although some say "unavailable" which I assume is a privacy setting) online and playing. So is it OK etiquette to just add them as a friend via a friend request? Invite them to a game? How does that work? I feel a bit rude just trying to join in when they are in the middle of a game. If some one could help me with the next step that would be great. I am very new to games and Multiplayer in particular. Thanks!
Well, I send a message asking if they want to play and I let them know that I got their name off the FoF list. I guess the extra politness comes from playing FFXI; the community demanded it. Once I get to know someone better then i forego that step.
If you want to play ME3 there is a group of us that play every night. Please feel free to send a message! I am on from 7pm-9ish eastern.
Rule of thumb, let people know your intentions.
Its very annoying when someone jumps into a party without an invite then doesn't say ANYTHING. Its more then acceptable to jump into a party as long as you let them know why. ie;"Hey I jumped in to see if you got room for one more to play some ME3?"
On the flip side, if somebody jumps into your party and say you are playing with a full room at the moment let the person know. ie; "Nice to see you so an so, we are running a full room at the moment" This keeps a lot of awkward silences from happening. I don't know why but even with all our years of Live gaming experience, a lot of us seem to not be aware of this.
So whenever I join a party uninvited, I say" Hey bitches, i am here to play ME3 got sum room for me?" and if they say no I go cool, send me an invite when a spot opens up and then I leave. I usually get my invite which is sweet. Thats how it is done. Or I meet up with another group.
Also if you are unknown to us we often have a tendency to overlook ya. Let us know you are there and you want to game. You see people online playing ME3 mp. Send them ALL messages saying if you got room I need an invite. its not rude, its what is needed to break away our attentions from all the excitement and go "oh hey there is our 5th. Screw playing with this random. Come on guys on 3 lets boot the random and get Slater in here cause he is from 2o2p and cool". Also if I have had a full room for an hour and one of my guys drop, I see you have been playing ME3 mp for an hour. But you never sent me a message lookin for a game. Then my buddy Locgaw jumps on while I am just about to send you an invite. I think to myself, Slater never sent a message lookin for a game, never sent an invite to his game, and I don't know if he will join my game even if I send him an invite. But I know Locgaw will accept my invite cause he loves him some mp and I know for certain he is a fun character to game with. So who would you invite? Send us messages dude it is the only way for us to realise you are there.
Here is an example of a standard and widely accepted message used by people looking for an invite; "2o2p, inv plz!"
With that you can't go wrong. When you are known you can drop the 2o2p part. Also send it in text format, not voice. Text messages take a second to read, but voice messages mean death during heated mp. And don't wait around for a response. We can;t afford the time to send a courtesy message during battle. Just start gaming and when an opportunity opens up we will send an invite or nuthin at all. Also if you get an invite after you join a room it isn't necessary to send a coutesy message back but being a new guy, you might wanna now and then, that way people know your intentions.
As for friends requests. If you think that person is fun to game with, if you see yourself gaming with them regularly or they say they are looking for friends, then thats when you send a friends request. You may have to be proactive where requestrs are concerned as we have friends lists built up already so we wouldn't consider it necessary to look for more but would often be more then willing to accept one if we see ourselves continuing to play mp in the game we met you in. As a new member The FoF list is your friend so to speak. Use it wisely my son
@LocGaw Thanks for the tip!. Your pic slays me "Butterface". Its been cracking me up all week. I knew I was in the right place when I saw that!
@Poltegice Thanks so much for taking the time to clarify that for me! I will be on at some point over the weekend. Hopefully I can find some other folks to play with. Playing with randoms and no mics gets old pretty quick. Glad I found this group!
Hey no problem, just hope you could understand all that with my extremely poor morning grammer. And hopefully it helps ya find some good games.
Well a few of you already know me but have been gone for a while just wanted to say I'm back and it good to be back with ppl who I have played with miss the good times we had
