Personal FM4 Goal Achieved
Back in January I started revisiting the Autocross Rivals events to see if I could get into the top 100 with a non-LB car. After using many different cars and killing quite a few cones I finally achieved the goal this past weekend.
Thank you to HLR King Cobra and TrackAssassin. There were a few times I had to chase their ghosts in order to break into the top 100. Had a helluva time trying to beat Cobra at Laguna Seca and Track is still ahead of me on the European Autocross by eighteen thousandths of a second.
The next step is to see if I can get into the top 50. Almost halfway there.
I really like the autocrosses, but MAN is it hard......What you acheived there is stud status. Trust me I noticed awhile ago that you were right at the time everywhere I went.
It's appropriate I always hit those stupid barrells. My last year of real autoxing I went an ENTIRE year and only had 4 clean runs.
though)
(2 of those gave me a 3rd place at a Pro Solo
I know it is all driving and not car but if you'd be willing to share any of your autocross tunes I'd love to try them.
Thanks guys!
That's interesting. I tend to look at it from the other direction. Before each run I tell myself to let the car do the work so I don't overdrive the car. Doesn't always work and on more than one occasion I've plowed head-on into a wall at full throttle out of frustration. Props to you for doing it for real, though. I did a three day racing schol on my 40th B-Day but haven't done anything competitive.
I've uploaded my autocross setups to my storefront if you want to take them for a spin. They generally all follow the same build process, max the aero and get a base tune from a tuning calc. Those are the v1 tunes. If I find that the car pushes a bit in the slower gates, I'll apply some small suspension changes Cotter gave so the car is a bit more responsive. Those are the v2 tunes. If a car only has one tune then that's the tune I set on the event and didn't try the other setup. The Sesto is the exception. That was one of my first experimentations with aero on a community monthly autox event that on a lark I ran at Catalunya.
I also uploaded the tunes I've used for the Got Power autocross. The G37 is nice but I'm still in the top 25 with the Saleen.
I'm a wheel and pedal driver so I don't know how good or bad these tunes are with a controller.
Shaggy, props and all, but that Cobra paints a crime, I'm just saying....
Seriously cool achievement Shaggy. I've got a lot of respect for anyone with the patience to run the AutoX events without smashing their setup to pieces - those cones drive me insane!.gif)
Awesome work Shaggy!
Most impressive!
