Maybe it's wishful thinking but I doubt that we will see demo stations for FM5 at E3 that don't have a wheel set up. If they don't have wheels it will be a serious blow to the claim of "the highest rated racing franchise of the last ten years".  I have a wheel and a rig that i built so I am just as anxious as many others.

I hope we see expanded compatibility with respect the variety of wheels we can use.by doing that MS can possibly expend the number of people using their system. A no brainer.

Well I won`t be in a rush to get an Xbox One when it first comes out.

More of a wait and see.

Funny though, talking to guys in work who play a lot too, no one seems excited about it.

Go figure.

Give it a bit of time. A few weeks before release people will want it then it will go postal. Stuff like this always does. I just don't know if I will be stood in a queue for one yet.

I don't think FM5 will have anything to pry me away from my PC with triple 27" monitors and iRacing.

But here is my list, just in case.  For me to even consider it, the following would be required.

1. The ability to drive into and out of the pits with speeding penalties for speeding.  Also be able to select amount of fuel and which tires to be changed.

2. The option to select rolling or standing starts for private lobby races.

3. The ability to tune, share tunes, and practice in private lobbies while waiting for the race to start.

4. The ability to tune each corner of the car independantly.

5. Triple screen support from 1 console and 1 game.

6. Support for my Fanatec CSW wheel.  I can't even go back to the CSR Elite after using the CSW.

I highly doubt we will see all of these in FM5.  I don't miss FM4 that much, but I really miss racing with the great group of guys at 2O4F.  If any of you ever decide to move up to PC sim racing on iRacing, send a friend request to me there.  Troy Eddy.  I will help you with all kinds of advice on how to get out of the rookie class and up to a level where the racing is clean and fun.  I also have a bunch of setups I can share for some of the more popular cars.

Really couldn't care less about the penalty/speed thing in the pits, regulated speed by black box on car OR the games fine with me. Gives me a chance to grab a drink, scratch my balls, whatever else needs doing during a race. Now, the tires/fuel thing would be great. Add to that weight computations for decreasing fuel in the car affecting handling would rock too.

I actually have been playing a fair amount of Forza 4 and Forza Horizon on the Xbox in the living room and have really been enjoying it.  My son is getting into videogames and he loves to watch me do a race or two before I load up Lego Star Wars for him.  I am back on the controller, which is fine.  I had forgotten how much I enjoyed firing up Forza and racing one of my many cars at a variety of tracks in the career mode.  Therefore, I suspect that an Xbox One is in my future, and at the very least, I will have it in the living room and will do Forza 5 with the controller.  But, if M$ were to shock the world, it would do the following for Xbox One and/or Forza 5:

1. Support all wheels, including my Fanatec CSW, that are HID and USB compatible.  Essentially, that would mean that any wheel that works on PC and PS3 would also work on the Xbox One.

2. Include triple screen support from one console and one copy of a game, which almost certainly would require some sort of adapter to get the video signal to all three screens.

3. License Fanatec to do an entry level $150-$250 Forza 5 themed wheel AND a higher end Forza 5 themed rim for the CSW.

If M$ does one or more of these things on my wishlist, the Xbox One will likely go in the home office, alongside the PC and PS3.  wink

Lawyer, I like your thinking. I would love to get a CSW or a T500RS and have them be compatible with the ONE. That being said, I believe that the wheel issue will be addressed sooner rather than later. It may be a Fanatec only set up but that would still be great. I just can not see them debuting the game at E3 without a cockpit set up. No way.

I agree, they gotta have a cockpit set up for the media to video and photograph, just as Sony had for the GT6 reveal.  That being said, the problem is that the wheel and triple screen folks like us are a small segment of the overall gamer population.  I think that explains why M$ got out of the Xbox 360 wheel market relatively quickly and left it to Fanatec to serve us.  I see little reason for them to cater to us in substance.  Yes, there will be lip service paid to us, just as with prior Forza games, but I don't see M$ and Turn 10 going out of their way to implement one or more of the items on my wish list.

I think we will see wheel compatability.  How can Forza be considered the best console racing franchise without it? It can't and that would hurt those claims. It won't take much effort or cost for MS to get it done for the ONE.

Triple screens from a single machine? - I would love it but I doubt it will be supported by the XB ONE.  That would add some cost. I think MS is going to feature the Illumiroom device they are doing R&D for. Have you seen that demo? It's pretty cool.

I would say, however, that I am 99% sure I am getting the nextBox and whatever LE Forza and season passes and extra day one DLC comes with it.  Even if wheel support never happens. I'll just use once I can get back to the PC (new baby boy in family keeps me from getting to the man cave).  The only chance of me not getting it is if they change the physics so drastically that the game is unplayable. Don't see that happening. I am keeping the 360 since its worth more to me than the trade in. Plus, my boys can use it some day soon.

Next: my car wish list... TBC

Great suggestion. I was a tad miffed that they dropped the 312P in and nothing to race against it. Those little beasts really need something else in the same class to run against.

And I'd absolutely die for a 356 convertible...

I see a lot of good ideas here in this thread. The few things that I would really like to see are...

More real world tracks. Forza has been recycling the same tracks over and over again. To me, that is the reason the game is so stale. I would like to see the following:

MidOhio

COTA

Bathurst

Lime Rock

Spa

Assen

Brno

Aragon

Miller

I would like to see fewer street and roval courses.

More tuning options. Ex.- why can I convert some cars to AWD, and some I cannot. More aero parts. And I should be able to paint anything I damn well choose. Like wheels and brakes.

And a biggie for me....I would like to see customizable HUDs. Tach and speedo should be independantly selectable between analog and digital, and I should be able to place them anywhere I want on the display. I miss the GranTurismo analogs side by side at the bottom middle of the screen. I'd just like to be ableto customize the view from my "cockpit". Change the guage colors, placement and such.

I would also like the option to "use a tinted visor" on my "helmet". In what real world am I running straight into the sun through a few corners without sun protection for my eyes? Main reason I hate that Sonoma course.

That's all I got for now. I'm sure there's more. Forza has just gotten really stale and other than having hundreds and hundreds of cars, it's the same as it ever was. Other driving games are pushing change, and while I don't care for arcade racers, I do appreciate them upping the game with new ideas.

The biggest thing I want is more versatility.

I want MORE options setting up a lobby. I want more buckets, I'd love more restrictions being able to be implemented, and this is not to penalize drivers so much as set up spec races. I mean, a lobby where you can control things like tire wear, heck tire compound. I'd love to be able to affect not only tire width but diameter to a degree as well.

And along with more restrictions in lobbies, simply more settings and also more ways to select, group, etc your garage, just like a damn spreadsheet in theory. I want to narrow a search to cars from 67-70, 3500lbs or heavier, with no more than 450HP, rwd, production only from North America, and on street tires if I want.

And let's talk drag tires. I want those stupidly narrow, drag strip only, can't stop shit tires that look like they belong on the front of my Harley! ( I tuned a car for the drag rivals event the other night, and I went out and checked the benchmark numbers and for the 60-0 and 100-0 it said FAILED, so I think I was on to something! cool)

I heard someone talking about customizable autocross. Heck yeah, and it doesn't have to be on all the tracks, just allow it on the Benchmark series and it'd be good.

If they have a car from a particular series, and this applies to Race cars, damnit it, you'd better have at least one of the opposing cars from the same series, if not six!

Can we get more than just Ford and Chevy for the Nascar? While we're at it, how about the new body's this year? ( It's only what, three cars?)

Paint, more layers, duh, more finish options ON THE SAME CAR, and get r id of that damn metallic glitch where the black looks like its a "special" color when you DON'T want it! Paintable glass, paintable STOCK rims, all street cars ABLE to have license plates...

I guess what I'm after is this. The new system, while not apparently earth shatteringly strong in current PC tech terms IS a big step forward for the console AND apparently the cloud thingie will enable a lot more than I think they're even aware of themselves yet ( think untapped future potential). So what I want from Forza 5 straight up, is I want to be wow'd, and not just because the cars look nicer, shinier, cooler, because at 200mph down a back straight with 5 people on your ass, you're not checking out that realistic hood emblem or spinner cap or such, you're wanting a better racing experience with smoother gameplay, better connections, easier grouping, better lobby's and simply more fun.

So yeah, I want to be wow'd.

I believe Fanatec did not agree on a contract with turn ten to make a forza branded wheel only to work with one forza game (Forza4) yes the wheel does work on the ps3 and pc as well as Horizon and past forza games.  I also believe that the fanatec wheels specifically the forza branded wheels will work with Xbone .

After my limited time in Forza 4, alas with no tuning and little build experience, here's a list of what I'd like to see:

Fanatec wheel forward compatability

MIC problems with Fanatec wheel fixed (even though this is probably a Fanatec issue)

More tracks

Night and all weather racing, including dirt and rally

Better instrumentation. For example, the tach should show shift points and be calibrated to the build/tune.

Less wait time to join lobbies

Ability to attach additional monitors for side views without extra Xbox's

On some tracks, get rid of the ridiculous areas that can slow a car from 160 to 10 in a split second. Indy comes mind.

Automatic DQ's for driving the wrong way and cutting corners

More realistic physics when in sand, gravel, etc. Sand should not slow a car from high speed to nothing in a few feet. Just doesn't happen that way in real life.

When looking for online races, the list of races in progress should show more info such as number of cars, lap x of x they are on, class, etc. The way it is now you have to join a lobby to see if there is anyone there, and sometimes that can take up to a minute.

At the start of races, instead of having the fancy sliding graphics just before the race starts, show a single page with all the info one might need: Track layout and length, number of laps, starting order

Allow for optional true damage simulation - ie, if you crash into a wall at 150 you shouldn't be able to just drive away and keep racing

Read this today on some blog, lots of peeps not looking forward to the One!

These sums it up. Kinda.

"So you're renting the entire system 24 hours at a time. Used games are essentially prohibited.

An audio-monitoring Kinect is required to turn the POS on.

This entire scam is an offensive pile of shit. Screw Microsoft."

Ohh, and this comment too.

"I don't get the part about publishers wanting a slice of the trade-in market. I mean, if I buy a car from Toyota and decide to sell it 6 months later Toyota doesn't get any $$ from that. In fact this is how most business transactions work so why should game publishers be treated differently? WHY!???"

The whole issue of traded games and whether or not there is a fee if you buy a used game is up to the publishers, not MS. The publisher will decide that. To be honest the publisher will probably charge regardless of what console you have the game for. It's not a uniquely XboxOne issue. Games already do this anyway. Go get a used copy of Grid 2..you will then have to buy the "on line pass". It's already happening.

As far as renting the system, I don't even know what they mean by that. Both machines already check for updates and so do PCs.

All of this nonsense won't matter as soon as those gamers get a look at the next gen games and graphics. They'll all be jizzing themselves by the end of the week.

here's a funny example:

Gizzie, I believe if you go to a friend's house you can log in as yourself and play without the disc. I never really do that anyway. I want my screen to myself. They also allow up to 10 household members to play the games listed under 1 GT.Lluckily, my family is not that big and I am the only gamer. As far as once a day log ins. Well, I am online just about every day anyway. Most of us are. Besides, if a gamer misses a day or two for vacation or something I'm sure it won't be an issue. The Kinect can't be disconnected but it can be put in a pause more where it only will activate if you call out. I think you can name it too. Lol

EDIT: some games will require Internet for the cloud connection. I bet Forza will be one of them.
