Old film footage, NOT in game footage, as a back drop for that "We've been around 10 years" crap video they released reminiscing and NOT showing hardly any new footage...
I was jumping in my seat going, "YES, I want THOSE!!!"
Here is a hands on report on Forza 5, with a peek of the wheel from Thrustmaster: Its pretty general stuff, the author definitely is not a diehard sim racer
What he says about the new wheel gives me the impression that current wheels are not at all compatible. NOT GOOD.
I watched the video. I also watched last night ISR's coverage of E3 2011, where they got their hands on the new Fanatec Forza branded wheels and Forza 4. Turn 10 and Fanatec were of course promoting the Forza 4 branded wheels, but of course as we all know, the other Xbox 360 wheels worked just fine for Forza 4 including the M$ wireless racing wheel and the Fanatec Turbo S and GT2 wheels. I heard what Greenwalt had to say in this video and it was perfectly understandable that he would promote the Forza 5 official wheel. That does not automatically mean that no other wheel will work.
I also must say that Forza 5 looks amazing. It has iRacing and Project CARS-like graphics, with Forza cars and tracks. This will likely be a Day 1 purchase for me, wheel support or not.
I don't know, man..... I think they are looking to move on to some new wheel. I really hope not because even though its not a deal breaker for me it is for many others. I don't want to lose people over that issue. I know a few guys here have said they are out if the current crop of wheels are not compat.

Yeah, clearly they want us to buy the new Thrustmaster wheel, that is why they have displayed it, even though its still in beta.
A lot of talk about the usb connection. I don't see any reason why you cannot plug in the wheel using usb. If I can plug my phone into my 360 and it works the x1 must have better support for stuff. If not why put a usb port on it at all?
I'm tired of this shit. Waiting to hear confirmation. Speculation in every corner of the interweb. I want to order the xbone, but I need to get some idea of what that is going to involve.
If the fanatecs wont work, wait for ebay to be flooded and values to drop. Maybe not hugely due to cross compat, but sure as hell.
Seriously! Can't deal with it. Head, hurts, going, to explode.
TBH oldschool, Fanatec makes a good wheel and when people had problems the customer service was good. The only problem I have with my wheel is that I lose connection but that is an issue of the connection method. They should have just done a wired connection from the start. That's more about MS being so paranoid about their hardware and software.
Yes it has been said accessories for the 360 won't work on the bone but a fanatec wheel isn't just an accessory for the xbox it's for other platforms also, PC and PlayStation. Therefore it should be able to be adapted to work on a new platform. I predict all our fanatec users will be just fine. Fuck why am I all positive vibes, I must be running a high fever.
1. Firmware update + USB cable to connect to XB1. 2. Hardware and firmware update kit to connect to XB1 either through wireless or USB. (Will they do this for all their wheels or just the higher end ones?) 3. I'm SOL
I like the look of that wheel rim but didn't that guy know enough to take a picture of the connections in the back...? Idiot.
I was in the market for a new wheel and considered the T500RS. It's a very very good wheel but now with the cost of a new console etc...it will be tough to justify.
Poids, I feel the same way but we gotta keep the conversation going and the search for info too. It would hurt more to just ignore it. Know what I mean?

Good point about the picture taking Snappy. For supposed journalists with an interest in sim racing, these guys don't know their asses from their elbows. Also, why haven't we heard from Darin Gangi at ISR?

I know mate. 100%.
I'm just on the edge of my seat here ;)
And no weather/night sucks. I know folks have said its not that important, but I wanted the fricking option. I wanted to test myself against variable conditions, however brutal those were. I want to run a 24 hour race with live swaps of real team mates. I want the chance to take a 2 hour shift in the dead hours, and then later watch the gradual dawn, as I hammer down the straights on le mans at 200mph, red eyed and desperately fighting against binning it.

So FM6 it is then
Precisely! This was the scenario I had in my head which you have put in words so perfectly.
Imagine running an event at the Nordschelife which is joined to the GP Circuit, like in real life, at night. Then pitting and turning the car over to a teammate. If the day/night cycle could be scaled in the game then a full 24H cycle could be cut down to 2 hours. Grid had this feature. I must stop now. It is what it is.
There's footage of 60's Indy cars!?!? Where? Can you post it here? I'd love that.

I saw a clutch and a wheel in a big box. I'm assuming it's not the finished product.
I think Dan Greenawalt hints at the bad news towards the end of this video:

Yeah I think he was just upping the new wheel.
The game its self is looking very good. I just hope we get some features we want aswell as more cool ones.
Damn, November is sooooo far away. I haven't even gone to the beach yet. Lol
Sure is pretty far away Snappy :)
Lawyer, where can I find ISR's video? Can you post a link?
Here it is:

Here's a thought, maybe they wanted a company that can put out a quality reliable wheel with a larger manufacturing capacity?
Read this thread guys and let me know what you think:

Must resist.
Just bought house.
Futile.

I see three possibilities.
1. Firmware update + USB cable to connect to XB1.
