Microsoft Policies Shutting Out Indie Developers
DayZ and Oddworld can't currently make it to Xbone because of Microsoft's policies.

yeah, that's some bullshit. I don't think anyone understands the reason, though I'm sure MS has some reason they're not broadcasting.
Why can't they just create a shell "publisher" and do it? Please, people more informed than me - what does a publisher do, with a digital game?
I honestly think MS will cave and allow self publishing. They would be foolish not to.
Is Microsoft not a publisher?
they are, but then they'd take another cut on top of it I think
Sony doesn't get a cut of self published indie games?
That's pretty big incentive to develop for PS4 then I'd say.
Honestly, I don't see how Microsoft doesn't have a digital distribution strategy at this point. I mean, that's kind of a huge part of what they actually talked about - day and date digital games, integrating indie and arcade games into the main overall "Games" section of the UI, etc.
Plus, with the extreme frequency possible and planned with updates for Sunset Overdrive, UFC, not to mention achievements, I somehow doubt the information about a $10,000 cost per update is accurate.
Perhaps those two developers should talk to Microsoft again and get updated info?
It certaintly doesn't change my mind about buying one, why would it hehe
it's why Fez never updated a game killing bug, because for fixes I think it's actually like $40K because it has to go through testing and QC before XBL will release it.
I'm pretty sure Sony would get a cut of the sale similar to how Valve gets a cut with a sale on Steam.

Oh I realize for Xbox 360 that was the case. However, this streaming updates while the console isn't being used is a bit different. No more getting disconnected from live for updates type thing. I just think it'd be hell to apply the same fees to this new console with what they mention doing more often.
Who would add a few weapons every week to a game if that cost them $10,000 over and over and over.... That'd be ridiculous, if it were true on Xbox One.
Interesting interview by Steve Wozniak about ownership and the cloud.
http://bgr.com/2013/06/14/steve-wozniak-interview-cloud-computing/
“Nowadays in the digital world you can hardly own anything anymore,” he said. “It’s all these subscriptions… and you’ve already agreed that every right in the world belongs to them and you’ve got no rights. And if you’ve put it on the cloud, you don’t own it. You’ve signed away all the rights to it. If it disappears, if they decide deliberately that they don’t like you and they cut that off, you’ve lost all the photographs of your life… When we grew up ownership was what made America different than Russia.”
The cost of devs putting out updates on MS Live is $40,000 google it.
I'd prefer a link to that being the same on Xbox One, but if there are none to provide I wouldn't be surprised.
Intresting comments from Mr Apple?
Bruce Willis to fight Apple over right to leave iTunes library in will
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/sep/03/bruce-willis-apple-itunes-library
I think the fact that it is "Mr. Apple" is exactly why his comments are so relevant. Perhaps he's seen the folly of his company's ways and is attempting to stem the tide before we give up all of our rights to anything we buy. For "Mr. Apple" to come out agianst the cloud is a mighty strong statement indeed.
iTunes did away with drm ages ago. So I don't get it
People really buy videos on iTunes?
Don Mattrick said: "We're going to have an independent creator program ... We're going to sponsor it. We're going to give people tools. We're going to give more information ... That is something we think—I think—is important .... That's how I started in the industry. There's no way we're going to build a box that doesn't support that."
At this point I don't understand how charging 10 or 40 grand for an update that studios are intending to do weekly if not more often makes logical sense.
What makes sense is that they haven't clarified many things about XNA, indie games etc. I was just on the XNA forums for a while digging, and the only official responses indicate that information is forthcoming on Xbox One related questions.
In other words, the article in the first post is complaints about conjecture regarding Xbox One. Much like the console has seen from gamers for weeks now?
As always, more information is needed.
