The Brickyard 40
With the approach of the NASCAR Brickyard 400 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a few weeks, I will be holding a one-off race called “The Brickyard 40”. This event will take place on Saturday 7/27 @ 1600 EST. The race will consist of 40 laps at the Indianapolis Speedway and should take around 45 mins to complete.
The Cars:
# 05 Ford Racing Fusion Stock Car – R3-788
# 04 Chevrolet Racing Monte Carlo SS Stock Car – R3-788
Event Rules:
1. This event is a Non- Contact event. Race clean and give room.
2. Cosmetic damage will be enabled
3. Cautions will be in place. (See below for details)
4. Grid Ordering = Random
5. Should anyone arriver prior to the completion of the first lap, we will restart that race (1 restart per track)
6. Any cars found not to be built to spec and that have raced will be banned from the race
7. You must make at least two pit stops per race (See below for details)
8. While pitting you must use the entrance on the main straight AFTER you exit turn 4. When leaving the pit, you must use the pit road and merge into traffic between turns 1 and 2.
9. All cars must have a NASCAR style paint with their racing number displayed on each door and roof. Failure to have the required paint will result in starting the race from the back of the field.
The rules above may be changes / added to before the race starts. If there are any changes I will highlight which ones and why.
Build/Tune Rules:
- All participants cars must be built to the specifications listed below
- Tuning is allowed on any adjustable parts (except final drive which must be set to 3:12) that may be on the car. No replacing/adding of parts.
Cautions:
- Cautions available on all but the last 5 laps.
- No passing is allowed once the caution is called and the field is frozen.
- During a Caution all chatter should be to a minimum, this will help get the cars in line for the restart
- You can call a caution if someone causes you to lose position during the race through physical interaction
- If you cause your own departure from the track, or accident or whatever, you cannot call a Caution.
- Once you call a caution, everyone will slow down to 50mph. Do not come to a complete stop!
- Those involve will rejoin the field where they are currently placed.
- Restarts are single file.
- All restarts will take place after turn 4
- Race Coordinator will call out a countdown, 3*2*1 GO, once all racers are grouped up (within a car length of each other) and up to caution speed (50mph).
- No passing on restarts until you corss the start/finish line after the re-start of the caution. If you pass someone prior to crossing the start/finish line, you must give back that position prior to the completion of that lap.
- The first car 1 lap down after the pitstops are completed during all caution periods will be given a "Lucky Dog" pass and allowed to make up the lap. The driver given the lucky dog pass will be allowed to make up that lap when the field exits turn 2 to allow them time to catch up to the filed however if the field is exiting turn 4 AND getting ready to restart, we will restart the race regardless if the lucky dog has caught up or not.
Pit Stops:
- All drivers must make 2 pit stops during the race
- First pit stop must be taken between laps 5 –15
- Second pit stop must be taken between laps 25 –35
- Should a caution be called during these pit windows and you have not made your required pit stop, you will be allowed to pit and rejoin the tail end of the field before the restart of the race (provided you are not a lap down). This should allow for interesting pit strategy!
- Drivers must call out when they are making their pit stop and confirmed by the race coordinator to ensure everyone has taken the required pit stops.
Racing Etiquette:
- Race Clean and give room
- No Cutting corners (stick grass at Indy is a bitch)
- No Blocking, racing line is not blocking
- Call your intent

I'm in.
If I can I'm in.
i will gladly join this
Im thinking of moving this to Saturday 7/27 @ 1600 EST (2100 BST) to allow for Euro racers to attend. Would this be a problem for anyone who has already signed up?
Its a NASCAR event, I doubt many Euro's care.
I'm down for either day.
There are at least two (Max and Snoop). Hopefully a few more
I run with the North Amercans so much i think Parcells forgets i am a Euro
Let's see. Wife at summer cottage with both boys until that Thursday. I have no work that day as of yet. I'll be home alone with my cat. I might finally get to run in a 2O4F sponsored event. I will keep you updated.
Just read post about moving it to the 27th. That's a no go for me. Work. But please do not shuffle anything on my account. I'll jump in sometime, somewhere, somehow in the future. You guys have fun.
I work on Saturdays. Hoping it would be on a Sunday. It's fine though, I will just drop out then.
I had thought about Sunday but there are alot of races already schedueld on Sundays.
I pretty sure frosted flakes will sponser me for this :)
Sorry guys but I need to move this up one week to this saturday 7/20 due to my father funeral service is being held on 7/27.
I hope you folks can still attend tha race in a couple days.
Thanks
