Microsoft set to reintroduce XBOX One at Gamescom
Microsoft will ‘reintroduce’ the Xbox One in a live press event that is intended as a fresh start in their relationship with the media and consumers. They will directly address the concerns about the Xbox One and start generating positive momentum in time for the November launch.According to an inside source after the E3 conference there was a massive and frantic ‘internal review’ of every aspect of the Xbox One compared to Sony’s direction with PlayStation.
The 24 hour check-in and disc-DRM policy was reversed to prevent the negative press becoming so widespread that it damaged the Xbox brand. Every other criticism has also been examined to see if it can be improved. Multiple changes have been made and Microsoft feel confident in a product they know the public will respond well to.
There have been discussions about creating price parity between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 by reducing the Xbox One price to $399/€399. Conversation has centred on bigger losses per unit sold versus loss of sales traction.
Microsoft will make public their plans for Gamescom later this week. It’s expected they will be hosting a showcase event presented by Phil Spencer, the vice president of Microsoft Game Studios and Phil Harrison, the corporate vice president of Interactive Entertainment.

Very cool. I know for some the damage has been done but they can turn the momentum in their favor if they play their cards right. I know I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds good. I'd rather get more content like headset or games for the original $499 but any cost savings are good.
I think this is hilarious. After stomping all over PS3 this generation pretty much and getting a big swollen ego over it , SOny announces the system gamers WANT and now Microsoft has to eat a big piece of humble pie and copy what they're doing. Will be interesting to watch their 'new' press release and see if they really got the message. Pre orders for PS4 must be way out pacing XBone for them to make such drastic changes. I guess this is one example of how voting with your wallet can effect change. Too bad gamers can't do this more often.
Their inital release was a complete PR fuckup, but I feel it was BS that Sony chose to bash M$ for that instead of making a full presentation of their product. IMO that's just as bad a PR step as M$ made that day. They've changed positions on several things, but based on that they honestly do deserve a re-presentation. Either the parts are no longer available based on the age of the product.

I never agreed 100% with the business plan they originally went with on the XB1, but I wasn't going to burn them at the stake either. Knowing now what they do I hope that they really take this opportunity to re-focus the vision and are able to engage the people that were ready to damn them.

Yeah my computer has been buggy...
SONY played the game to a T. Any company would do the same. I don't think SONY "bashed" them at all, but played off their shitty business plan. Now is the time for MS to come out and regain the faith of the gamers.
See Outcast, I kind of related that idea to me being your friend, you do something that pisses her off, she comes and tells me about it. Then I use that as a reason to bash you and try and get her to sleep with me...

I'd say they're running out of time and had better get on their pony! Less than 4 months to release and a lot of crap to fix PR wise.
It's been just over a month and look at all they've changed. and it's still 3.5 months until launch. they're not running out of time.

The only thing that will matter in the grand scheme is what launches. And then eventually how each system evolves to fit the user demands.

I called bullshit on the article. I was right. I earned -3 points for it. Is the word 'bullshit' too obscene for some people? On a forum as sparsely populated as this, why is voting even allowed? I'd say it is pointless but I'd be technically incorrect.
