Me and my life

Hey all,

Im guessing by now, some of you guys who i have played in game with have noticed im kinda up and down.  One day you cant shut me up, the next, im silent.  Im either happy, or hating everything.

Well, (and i find it hard to talk about stuff like this, but i dont want people to just think im a grade A pillock.

Anyways, im 29 years old and i have Asperger's syndrome.  Some of you may or may not know what it is, but ima just let you guys know some of the stuff that goes through my little head lol.

Basically, what people say about aspergers is that its a form of autism, and affects mainly social interactions. In basic terms things like not knowing when to shut up and end the conversation, that something they have said is totally inappropriate.  Also, taking things literally.  You may say something as sarcastic, but no matter how obvious it may seem, i just cant pick up on it, so might very well get offended by it.  Things that seems normal to most people, going with the flow, adapting to situations (even in games) i just cant do, It may sound like im not taking your advice (aimed at Max mostly), its not that i dont listen, i just cant work out what, why or how it needs to be done, so i then cant do it, so instead of taking a few goes, i could literally spend 12 months and still not pick it up.  Other times, i could just pick it up first time perfectly.  (Its quite hard to put into words.

The bigger problem is what Doctors call mood inbalance.  Im pretty laid back, i like a good moan but its usually harmless, however, something like the sound being too loud or my car not looking right can send me off into a very bad mood, and i dont want to be like that or enjpy it, heck, i cant even tell half the time until a few days later when i, clear headed again,  the mazdas the other day were a clear example, i have no idea what it was than set me off, but i was that annoyed (even now i have no idea what over) i was ready to get rid of the xbox.

I aint asking for sympathy or anything like that, just understand i aint a total prat, and just ignore me when i get like that.  I probably havent explained any of this well, but i thought id just post this to clear my mind if anything

Cheers for reading my rambling

Aspberger's is no worse that the malady that most folks here suffer from (myself included). It's called asshole syndrome. so don't worry about it.

Over the last 15 years i have, and continue to work with people right across the spectrum. Aspergers, autism, OCD, ADHD and of course each of these is unique and varies in scale. Fully functioning to barely able to cope.

I know where you are coming from, and since you are taLking about it with us, and you are clearly analysing it, you are also clearly managing it.

Useful for everyone to be aware.

Don't sweat it.

Cheers

2 of my boys have it also. I probably have something similar but in the 50/60's they used to call it high strung. So I've learned to work through/control it. No sweat. Just apologize when you realize that you've become a motor mouth. That's what I do. But not to insanerc. devil  I just keep talking to annoy him because of his crappy rear end racing style.  wink
