Racedepartment

I ve been signed up here for a while on there forums....very useful information covering all games and aspects of simracing

it wasn't till late I decided to join there race club and glad I did....alot of familiar faces from the sim community are there as well as aliens but all seem pretty nice thus far.

once registered u just have to apply for your racing license so you can join the club and league events.  Free of charge you just have to agree to there race rules...don't be an ass and if ya hit someone let them regain the position pretty basic

it usually takes a day or 2 for the process to be completed

they cover all the current sims except rf1 they retired if for rf2 and have nightly races running on GMT which works well for me as there usually 2pm starts my time and I get to race with my euro buddies.

ive only looked at the race 07 club so far as for events they seem to be running wtcc and stcc2 on wed thurs 2x22min races fri is always the 80 min mini race sat seems to be retro race day and tues are randomly selected base content I believe this week is the sr4 radical

i saw 2 rf2 events of interest....camaro gt3 series and a gt enduro sseries

in no way am I selling out this club for them  :)  as a r07 fan they have alot of organized races with a good sized grid that is enjoyable and saves me the hassle of trying to organize something :)

my ultimate goal is to try and focus our club around touring cars, seems the majority of us have the same interest...recruit some guys from there and other leagues and eventually have our own bi weekly premier touring car series like gbr has with the v8s

from what I've noticed at rd is alot of guys are European and seeking a good touring car series which seems hard to find at the moment which hopefully we could capitalize on to help build the club up ?

Hey there is no selling out, if we were running daily series that you were missing for another club that would be a bit different but we just have one and that ain't running at the moment anyway LOL I have spent feckin hours getting my r07 sort of sorted, that mod manager don't like my install any more than I do. But assuming I can get whatever your runnung...running just let me know what you planning on racing and I'll see if I can join in.

R07 on steam still isn't perfect...if you have time and data u can do what I did removed all the packs than deleted every folder related to r07 re install move the main folder from common to your gamer folder if needed...than launch steam go to your games library right click on each add on pack properties/update turn off auto updates so we don't get the issue of moved files like before.  Now there's still the issue if you exit the game it won't relaunch using the same expansion launcher...so have steam create a short cut launch for each pack and go through all of them to see which one launch continually....mine seems to be the retro pack short cut than delete the other short cuts, the other solution is closing steam and relaunching apparently steam runs on a platform that doesn't handle r07 well ?

Download mod manager run the program and save to either your user account or programs x86 your choice

mod manager took me a while to figure out it kept giving me an error that wouldn't disappear in pure frustration if I hit the ok button a half dozen times and it went away I than realized you need to hit the + sign in the top right a new window will open asking to name the game type race07 steam select race 07 from the game list than at the bottom there's 2 browse buttons first one browse to where your race07 folder is and select the race07.exe and ok

the second browse go to the same race07 folder and select the whole folder and ok that's for your mmods once you complete that hit validate it will take a min than all your mods will pop up in the mod manager than its simply on/off

to turn on/off mods you need to launch mod manager before launching the game to add new mods click the folder to the right named add mod it will give u a browse option click than go to where u saved the download click and the system will unpack the mod it's self.  It has a built in 7zip, rar etc

so when running multiple mods just launch the manager and turn off everything except the mod your running and presto no issues....hopefully :)

hope my babble made sense

Rd mostly only runs base content cars with occasional mod tracks

as for what iam running ill definately run the 80 min minis series every fri next week is at spa 08 track dl is available in the forum thread asides from than that maybe the occasional tues wed wtcc/stcc if time allows.  Ill let you know a day in advance when iam running those and ill try to get a tune together for us and maybe apart can create a team paint with our names and number?  For the wtcc/stcc days I think it would be best to all run the same car I was thinking the seat in wtcc possibly the same or corolla for the stcc?

I seem to get along quit well with the mini and tuning it so that one will be a sinch and from past you've been pretty content with my tunes

as for a team painting think it would be a tad disrespectful if we went with a decked out 2old2play paint scheme but would like a small advert on the rear bumper promoting us. Would you guys be ok if we ran DirtT Tuned Racing and I can send some ideas to tartan if he's willing to do something for us?  Since leaving fm4 I kinda let the club slide :(

Yeah I have soo many feckin installs I have no idea what is launching from where, I sussed the Mod Manager no problem but it crashes while checking tracks. I'll keep at it and just try and sort out the mess myself.

Next week is Bridgehampton that is what is up on the site seems there was a problem with Spa. Spent ages getting it running but I have that track and the minis sorted so I'll sign up for that. Can't see there being a problem running a 2O2P livery, loads of folk run in different leagues. What would they find if they came here? This thread advertising their league :) We are not so much a league, as a small corner of a gaming site.

Happy to run with whatever livery though :)

I was working on a tune for the the wtcc race at barber race way used the the 07 seat....you can make that car do anything loli managed a 1:30.6 was my best on race fuel driving way past its limits :) I figure mid 1:31's will be a safe race pace.  Iam gonna work on specific  gearing and a few more tweaks its not far off from the stock version as I've only worked on chamber and tire pressure thus far.

also drove the car/track combo for the mini track is pretty easy layout to get the hang of...it's a high speed course with 2 quick somewhat difficult sharpe turns...easy if your driving safe but feel the key to the race is carrying as much momentum through those turns back onto the straights .  Ill start chipping away on this one too.

How do I give someone a tune? Go to teams the car and setups?

Blowed if I remember how to gift tunes...Yeah it's a foot to the floor track right enough, and only those couple of corners to make extra time in. Maybe you can throw up a practice server one night and we can see how we're doing. Short of maybe lengthening the gears a tad for the final straight the mini feels pretty god on the stock set up here.

Seat is a great wee car, why do you think I was so fond of it :)

Had another awesome race today....25+ grid we ran 2 x 22min races in the radical @seabring....first race was intense I started 12 and picked my way through to 8....4th to 9th were running bumper to bumper for 3/4 of the race swapping positions in every corner I don't think I've ever had a race like that all that was going through my head was god I hope I don't screw up and take every one out lol.  It came down to the last corner and I got a run out of the corner while the others choose to go wide  when they realized I had a chance at taking a top 5 they all crossed over and have me a little rub against the wall to slow me down :( but it was fair and clean the whole pack was less than .200 a part and went 4 wide across the finish...fucking awesome !

Its amazing how fast some of them are and how you pickup little tricks through out the race I ended up beating my qualifying time by a full second and my practice pace by 2 sec

really good group of clean guys over there of all skill levels I think I qualiy 1 st to last was 11 secs lol but it seemed everyone had someone at there level minus the top 2 guys

next race is thurs wtcc @ Birmingham and fri minis at bridgehamptom if anyone wants to join?

next week there doing a full week of nordschlefe which thankfully ill be away for...cause I suck there and do not enjoy it one bit lol

I finally found out how to sign up for the license.

Hope it is approved in time for the WTCC or Minis.

Is the WTCC only using the 06 and 07 seasons minus the Vectra?

theres a mini race tomorrow same time 80 mins....not a 00% sure if ill make it due to running later and i gotta go to bed and work again tomorrow nite so it will be a game time decision.

If you need a hand setting up just post and ill do my best to help you out!

Ya I was a little disappointed in the second race, same thing happens in race 2 of the radicals.....some of the faster guys can get a pushy when there there trying to make back positions....iam gonna have to get more defensive or start pushing back a bit.  But once you get those few out of your way the mid pack racing is super intense...race 1 ended with 2nd to 5th .500 sec apart bumper to bumper for the second half of the race.  You had a great finish in race 2!

Yep no probs with the paints.

I pretty much got pushed out the way into the tire wall in race 1.

Found great pleasure in still being able to beat him with broken suspension lol.

race 2 was an insane amount of possible race ending incidents I had to weave through.

but sitting 6th and knowing there were a multitude of Hondas behind me made the last 5 mins unbearable.

Huh, so much for that. Dickhead behind me did a suicide dive into the third corner and ended my race on the first lap, not impressed. sad

Ah well, one of the reasons I prefer racing with folk I know rather than open leagues, far less chance of someone doing such a stupd move, it was never going to work, he just dived in hot and side swipped me off the track. Tried pitting but was racing with a wheel that had to be held at an angle and just couldn't be bothered to do another 40 odd laps like that.

Understandable...Dennis is just an old retiree that hosts races for them .....no league or points being tracked just pick a track and turn laps.  Some times the aliens show up and it makes for great races sometimes a meathead like today.  There league races are super strict it even says when you sign up if you can't run continuos clean laps don't sign up or they will bout ya...they even have a moderator during races.  So basically the club racing is just for fun to hopefully gain the experience to run in the league.  What I like the most about the large random group is the randomness and the tips you pick up from the fast guys.....it pushes ya

i find continually racing with the same people you adapt everyone gives you space and you only become as good as the fastest guy in the group.  I hate it when my race gets wrecked but in all honesty it's racing I like taken a bump when it's clean and I love giving the bumps back :)

There is bumping...then there is a suicide dive.  Don't mind a close fight and paint rubbing, it can end in tears but that is racing. This was just a Timmy trying to win a race in the first few corners. I dunno I just seem to attract them...Heh don't mind me I'm just unloading here 'cause I can LOL

Unload away mate, end of the day it is "club" racing and a move as you described is uncalled for on any lap never mind the first.

As it is states in the rules, which i doubt many read, it's for enjoying the drive.

I might sign up and run a race or 2 an embarrass myself at the green hell....never taken the time to learn the track and the results show by t2 lol I might make either the extreme , radical or the wtcc but not sure yet...I got the week off and have alot of things to catch up on before I take off for the weekend.  The retro mini could be painfully slow around that track luckily it's only 4 laps :)

Having had a quick couple of laps in the Seat, the fastest lap was a 7:36:865

Was going to give the Alpha a try but kept spinning the thing in the first section.

The Accord is also a little too long for my liking round the ring, and keep getting the rear tyre on the grass.

Edit: Out of curiosity I tried the Accord and only managed to be 3 secs faster than the Leon, I reckon with how unstable the Accord is around there, they will just fall away through tire wear.
