I can set up a customs room for people who have the bundle next Tuesday(thats the 20th right). Pit flag and hill are must plays, plus the new gametype maybe fun. I also like the camo on the guns.

Me too. It might be the last big new thing for Halo until Halo XB1 comes out. I hope for more stuff but no sense getting silly.

Pit remake loks cool but I really feel that is not going to be enough for me to buy it.  Aside from the fact I just can't have any fun playing H4, almost every map 343 has made (like vertigo) for the halo franchise just feels way too cluttered and clostrophobic.

huge maps = not claustrophobic.  them being too large is my issue.  I need small, symmetrical maps.

PITFALL is a good remake.

It's nice to run around on a non-forged version of this map. It's super fast getting around it. Many previously impossible or difficult jumps are now easy. The ledge on the high side of middle bridge seems to need jetpack. It used to be a jump from a guardrail or wall? The wall ledges at either end of the Rocket hallways are gone (my favorite place to camp). The aesthetics are good for me. The dynamic lighting might tick off a few people. One confusion that will get people cranking, Red base's interior hue  is kind of bluish while Blue's is sort of yellow brown The Control room seems smaller.

Vertigo is another rabbit warren and people are going to run to the sunny side, I think.

I'm in.  Who else is in?

Pitfall

There are several common jumps that can't be made anymore.  At least without spring jumping or AA's

A few minor gripes..

- Slightly assymetrical - additional cover on red side by s1.

- Why move sniper spawn from s1 to s2?  Make players drop to get it.

- Spawn points on snipe ramp now (don't remember those from h3)  may break spawn trapping.

Overall a faithful remake and should be fun.  Hopefully there's already good ctf settings for it.

Vertigo

Assymetrical.  ok map with much better flow and sight lines than some earlier maps.  Could've been a great map if they replaced parts of it with empty space where you fall off the map.

They also added a lift where OS used to spawn, and a drop down chute near sword.  Bad idea to funnel people to sword room if you ask me.

So far, I've had fun playing them.  I'll stay tuned to see if we can get a room going tonight.

Don't know if this happened to others, but all my loadouts got reset after I downloaded the DLC.  I didn't notice this at first but I went into Pitfall in customs with my FFA loadout  and starting checking things out.  Somewhere along the way I realized I had no AA (jetpack) and thought -- sweet!  they even modified the loadouts for the new maps.  Then I realized everything had been reset and I had to go back into loadouts to set them up the way that I want -- WTF??

A couple more observations on Pitfall:

No Needler spawns.

No nade spawns.

Played a ton last night mostly on PItfall.  It was a lot of fun and I'm glad 343 brought it back.  But it's impossible not to notice how much worse it plays than Halo 3's Pit.  Main takeaway from Pitfall:  sprinting is incredibly mind-numbingly bad for Halo.

CTF was a big disappointment due to sprinting combined with super forgiving spawns for the defenders, but I'm sure Ghost will fix that.

agreed.  sprinting does not belong in Halo.  It just makes people run around from one section to another, for no reason.

That and the removal of any jumping up onto any ledges/yellow.  I mean, it plays fine.  I'd venture to say that its a top-3 Halo 4 map (Simplex, Haven, Pitfall), but still.

Also you can sprint jump from training to S2 and get from 1 side to the other in 3 seconds O_o  I am still disappoint

A gimped Pit is still better than almost every other by-the-developer map available.

Very true.  Has there even been a good developer map since Halo 3?

I like Haven, and I think that it could have been a great one if if existed in the Halo 3 universe.  Even then, it still needs the weapon, and spawn tweaks, the mancannons under Red and Blue, and even the Red and Blue distinguishing colors to make it "good" Haven.

Its always been up to the competitive community to fix what Bungie could/would not or what they couldn't see/figure out in the past.

Haven, Monolith, Uncaged and Tempest, but overall most do suck. Boardwalk, Countdown and Zealot grow on me, but I never loved them.

I think Pit is an awesome map for 4 vs 4. Nice, tight and fast action. Only thing that is a bit of a problem is the traffic jam at rockets. Although it does help getting my grenade kill count up that's for sure.
