It was for Ben... How could they make Ben the next Batman?

I swear there is only 1 movie every couple years I am willing to pay to see. Ben Aflec playing Batman will be despicable.

>edit<

Maybe it is going to be a Batman romantic comedy. You know; for the ladies...

it's different.  Heath wasn't in many movies so wasn't typecast long enough.  Ben has been in a hundred movies and has played a superhero before once that flopped (twice if you count his as an angel in Dogma).  We already know his acting too well.

Heath (major releases many people have seen):

10 Thing I Hate About You
The Patriot
A Knight's Tale
Monster's Ball
Brokeback Mountain
The Dark Knight

How is his short list of movies he's been in have to do with it? He was cited as being a bad actor from his roles in 10 things and Knights Tale.

Dogma was meant to be corny so opinions on his role there should be considered as such...

Otherwise read my post above, his acting skills have obviously had it's ups and downs based on his role. But overall in his career. If  you don't consider him a good actor, you have to admit his performances have been at least passable

The also said the same thing about Keaton.  And let's face it, until Bale, Keaton was the best Batman in the movies.

I'll wait until I see it to level harsh critisism, after all, I didn't have high hopes for Ledger at the time either.

I'm okay with a mild shift in tone with these Batman movies.  Like it was pointed out before, they said the same thing about Ledger and Keaton, and they were pretty much perfect.

I think I'd have rather seen the kid at the end of the last one take over..

Honestly, I've seen so many rewrites of all these characters since I read them waaaaay back when it kills me to explain to my kids all the history, and where all the tweaks and u-turns are.

I mean, this upcoming movie should be a World's Finest right? Except no one would know what that meant commercially...and I get that they wanna appeal to the general public, sell more seats so I get that.

The general storyline is an older Batman and a younger more idealistic Superman butting heads I guess? I hope the director knuckles down and gets some real work outta Ben. He CAN do it, just you never know who's gonna show up.

At least it isn't Nicholas Cage as Superman, right? cool

Ya'll need to give this guy a break, yes, his acting in Daredevil sucked. But he is not soley to blame for that crap movie. It seems the internet fails to remember that altogether.

Ben has not only played several roles where his acting if not grate its at least good. Let alone he's directed and acted in like GONE BABY GONE; THE TOWN; AND ARGO. A few of which he's recived several awards for. So if our opinion is based soley on his work with Kevin Smith then you should really watch those movies and re-assess your opinion. If professionls in the industry believe he's a good actor then the people who are screaming on the internet to remove him from that movie are biased and IMO complete shit.

Odds are he's also had input on writing a couple including the ones previously mentioned, he also wrote GOOD WILL HUNTING. Between that, acting and directing I'm sure the writer of the Superman/ Batman movie will use his input on how to build the characters personality should be developed.

If all else fails, he can rely on some input from Kevin Smith. I'm sure you all know his history when it comes to comics.

David Goyer is a wonderful writer, but he's known for working best with other writers, he playes off of them for inspiration, thus making a better story.

As it's been noted above, The internet has boasted that both Michael Keaton and Heath Ledger would be crap actors in the roles they were cast in, So many people shortly shut the fuck up once they were proven wrong.

Just so you know my opinion was reversed based on an article I read, here it is:

Co-wrote with Matt Damon. And I seriously doubt he'll have any input into how this movie is made

Seriously, if the director knuckles down and gets what he wants, Ben will be fine. Don't blame the parrot for the trainers laziness or lack of vision...

This.  So many times and ways, this.  Even bringing up Daredevil as a reason Affleck shouldn't be Batman is deserving of a punch in the foot.  *Everyone* acted terribly in that movie, and most of those actors aren't bad actors.  That's the writers' fault, the director's fault and involves shitty editing.  There was so much wrong with Daredevil, that I've never been able to sit through more than 30 minutes of the movie at a time.  It doesn't matter where you tune-in, it's just a shitty, terrible movie.

That said, given the director and how much I've enjoy pretty much all of his previous work (yes, including Sucker Punch and especially Legend of the Guardians), I'm pretty sure he won't settle for crap.

Contrast that with Mark Steven Johnson (I had to look up the director's name).  Besides Daredevil, what has he directed? Ghost Rider.  Which was cheesy.  What else?  Non-comic book stuff, like Simon Birch, Killing Season and When in Rome (which I admit, was cute).  As a writer?  Jack Frost, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and Elektra.  Those last three movies?  Comic book movies.  Dude should stay away from adaptations.

Now, I'm not saying that the Man of Steel sequel won't suck.  I'm not saying that Affleck won't end up being the worst thing about the movie, forever going down in the annals of movie history as "the guy that single-handedly ruined any hope of there ever being Justice League movies".  I'm just saying that given past history of "oh my god, that actor will ruin the movie and I'll never go see it!", in regards to Batman movies, it's usually been wrong.

I mean, George Clooney was Batman in the movie that was so bad, it killed the franchise for more than a decade.  It's not even a batman movie ... if Affleck is that bad, he can be recast.

I actually agree that its up to the writer and director.   They are presenting Batman in a certian way, and I am sure that they see Ben as a good fit for what they are doing.  I have just craking up too hard and all the posts I have seen  having Batman talk with the Boston accent like the character from "Good Will Hunting".......which really was a great movie btw.
