Ya that's the same date the Xbox 360 launched. I'm wondering if they are going to be short on units and didn't want to come out before PS4, sell out and then have gamers go pick up PS4 instead. Coming out after means there won't be any alternative option when they sell out because it'll take a few weeks for both to re-stock. Interesting strategy anyways. At least they're not coming out on black friday, that would have been stoooopid.
Stoopid woulda been same day release as PS4, can you picture all the fighting while waiting in line...? Hehe. Of course, there would be no monitor to hide behind...
I never expected them to launch the same date as PS4 that would have been funny though. I fully expected them to come out the week before PS4. I have to think it really doesn' t matter when in Nov the box comes out, it's all strategy and marketing deciding the specific date. Just surprised on the choice.
I don't think the release date difference will matter ever. And I don't think the $100 price difference will matter for several months.
There are only going to be 2-3 million available of each console this year and they will be swooped up by dedicated gamers that have made their console choice irrespective of price because they're committed to a brand. Price will be more of a factor for the subsequent markets of gamers that are open to different brands and don't mind waiting several months to buy. And if MS keeps the $100 differential but can't explain why it matters, it will be a problem then....But not this year.

That sums it up in a nutshell. I do wish that people were less critical of other's opinions.

I admit, I read "But not this year" in Aragon's voice from Return of the King.
Price didn't matter with me as I originally had pre-ordered a PS4. Once Kinect wasn't mandatory is when my choice swayed. I don't prefer to play online and don't care for the lesser value (imo) of LIVE but do like MS' launch line-up better.
I think they are ok with this release date. It is one week after in the US, but it is one week before PS4 in Europe. M$ isn't worried about sales in the US. If they were we would be getting a game with our Day one additions in North America.
As Tdrag also stated most consoles are bought or will be as soon as they hit shelves. In my opinion making price and release date not that much of a issue through the Holidays at least. We don't know if either company will be able to keep up with demand. If one can over the other it puts them in a better position than price, IMO.
Week after Sony for $100 more. Good luck
Couldn't help yourself?
in what way? which side do you think I'm on?
Shadow, perhaps my sarcasm meter is off. I apologize.
it's the 8 year anniversary of the xbox...

What? You think there's sides?
I don't know about you, but I'm betting on Linux.

Well, Microsoft says they've geared up for their largest release yet, so it sounds like they're trying anyway.
