Sunday Tourney, 9-22-13:____4x4____

  

          4 x 4

                                    ( Four cardtypes + four colors )

139 60 card deck exactly, classic rules.

139 You must have at least 8 of each of the following cardtypes in your deck...

     Creatures, Instants, sorceries & enchantments.

139 No cardtype can be the same color as another cardtype & no cardtype can be more than one color.

139 No artfacts, planeswalkers or colorless cards.

139 No multicolor cards.

 

Example deck:

10 Green creatures    41

8 Black sorceries                          9

 

10 Red instants                             broken heart

8 Blue enchantments                   93

24 lands                     

60 cards total


(White isn't used in this example.)

I must have one or two of those decks cuz we played it before a while back.

If i've got the time i will try to build something new though.

We are both having our birthday coming week but the party is a week later.

Demmmmm going to see abraham next week65,i hope he likes beer.

O well....before that ,  i have to survive the metalfestival i'm going to next saturday.129

@ Fort...........Yeah, we've played this a couple times before. In fact, I just copy & pasted the opening post from the last time I called this format.

I thought I remembered doing this way back, but I didn't have any decks saved so I made a new one last night.

I decided to try something different, rather than going with more traditional color/spell  combinations...

 

I haven't tested it yet, but my probable deck is: Red/Sorceries, Black/Enchantments, Green/Instants, White/Creatures

I wouldn't mind seeing/doing decklists with short explanations of our choices so we can learn from each other how to build better decks.

Anyone interested in doing that? We could post them after the tournies if we want so we aren't tempted to deckbuild against certain decks.

I know I would NEVER make a deck specifically to smash someone else if I knew what they were playing...

I found a deck labeled 4 x 4 and I only had "at least" 4 of each card type/color.  Perhaps this is different?  Or the other deck was just WRONG!!!!!!  Ah well.  I will be deck building this afternoon.  I also checked out the beta.  Totally confused.  But then.........

 That's my deck it was fun in testing in fact i was beating normal classic decks, and it was very fun vs Fort. Fort got me good when i gave him goblins but when i played nite i got greedy with my land and mulled and ended up with the wrong cards at the start. so i was 0-2 on a deck i was hopeing to do well.Just my luck 111

Go back up & read the original post. They say..

60 card deck exactly.

At least 8 of each cardtype. That would mean at the least you must have 32 spells, that's all.

I then give an example deck that fits that criteria and just happens to have 36 spells and 24 land. There was never any specs on number of lands and I even answered your question on there being NO land restrictions.

I know you're just ribbing me because you think you found a mistake, but you're wrong.

I thought I played everyone yesterday, but realized I didn't get to play Jello.  Maybe we can play ours this week sometime.

Shough beat me first game, then I won out. In the final Shough had a bad draw first game, and second game I got enough creatures out to overwhelm him.

My deck..

Black - Enchantments

4 Animate Dead - Gets creature from any gy

4 Seal of Doom -Creature removal

Red - Sorceries

2 Fireball - Creature removal/ game finisher

2 Browbeat - draw/damage

4 Pyroclasm - Creature kill..figured there would be hexproof/small crits

White - Creatures

2 - Calciderm - Big, cheap, shrouded

2 - Wall of Omens - Quick blocker, cantrip

4 - Wispmare - flyer, enchant killer

2 - Sun Titan - big body, digs Animate Dead/Seal of Doom/Wispmare/Wall of Omens/Krosan Verge

Green - Instants

4 - Evolution Charm - Land grab or gy dig

4 - Elephant Ambush - sneak blocker

 

I can't remember what my other 2 cards were..I think they were black enchants but not sure.

 

I had 3 basic lands and the rest non-basic. Krosan Verge is a rock star. Ghitu Encampment ruled also.

 

It was a fun format.
