5. Assuming I get there Wed morning soon after the gates open what are my chances of getting a good, flat tent site?
i'm really looking forward to this.
1-Yes, there are several bath-houses on site.
2-there is food on site, reasonably priced? Pretty much your standard race event fare.
3-I don't think so, but we will be able to get in & out. so we can take oyu to pick some up if needed.
4-Not very hard. Last time I went, therre was a whole live band set up 7 blasting at 11pm on a Friday night. Things usually start quieting down a little after 11 from my observations.
5-We will have our very own compound for the group. Level ground shouldn' be an issue if we get our usual spot.BTW, our spot is over near turns 10a & 10b in the infield. I'm thinking of having a banner made to put up this year to make us easier to find.
Ok thanks. Will I be able to park at the campsite with a spectator parking pass?
No. You will have to have an infield parking pass to park in the infield. If you want to get there when gates open I don't see any other choice. I would offer to come out and get you and tote your stuff in but we typically don't arrive until mid-morning on Wed by the time we get organized.
DO NOT buy a tent camping pass. They NEVER come around and check tents for passes. Use the money you were going to spend on that to get an infield parking pass.
Did someone say rent a GolfCart? Oh yeah - I said that!!! I plan to see you all there this year. I go almost every year. I'll day park in the Corvette Corale and cruise by cart all day each day - arrive at the latest Fri AM - o'dark thirty. The Friday races are the best. By the way, NASCAR is running an event during the weekend in cars similar to the nationwide series. That should be a hoot.
Gonna be hard to beat last year though - leading the field to the line in a ZR-1 with Ron Fellows at the wheel..yeehah!!! Also, caught up with some Forza racer friends from outside of 2O4F as well as a bunch of the "La Bomba" (aka Sarasota Drinking and Racing Enthusiasts) group from Turn11, Sebring 12Hr.
And speaking of Sebring - I hope to see some of you down here next March. Think of Road Atlanta as practice for the party where a race breaks out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBcL5kL1TaM
Yes, There are showers. However... All of the showers in the infield are cold water only. There is a bath house behind Tower/Media Center that has hot water, but it is a bit of a walk. Its in the support paddock so you can't drive there. We have had an outside shower in our compoind in the past that works pretty well.
2. Is reasonably priced food available on site?
I suppose... You need to camp near us. We setup a whole compound with grills, generators, cornhole boards. We do several group meals. Friday night is traditionally jambalaya night. Youre welcome to hang out and partake.
For purchase, we typically drive offsite to pick it up.
4. How hard do they clamp down on partying? ;-)
Not very,. It's a pretty tame crowd, so there isnt much need to be honest. You will have no problems. We run the lights until the wee hours of the morning getting cornhole games in.
5. Assuming I get there Wed morning soon after the gates open what are my chances of getting a good, flat tent site?
Yes you shouldn't have too hard a time. Depending how level you need. We camp in the area roughly where the yellow arrow is. The woods adjacent to it are a great place to setup if you can find space.
Yeah, the way things are looking, I may not be down unil Friday myself. I'm sure the race will be awesome. Special too since it will be the las ALMs race we'll see at RA.
bought my tickets (4 day + Corvette Coral) and reserved a Golf Cart TODAY!! Think I might bring a tent this year and stay in the infield - usually get a room near Gwinett - still might.
I've got tickets & RV pass in hand. Going to talk to the old man tonight afterwork to (I'm guessing) finalize the details. I suspect it will be a smaller RV, but being a rental (he's handling that end of it), I don't know for certain. I'll let you know once I know.
Definitely won't be down until Friday here. I've got a crazy work schedule & can't take off the rest of the week. I'm starting to get pretty stoked now that we're just a feew weeks out.
I kinda suspect we'll only be down for Fri/Sat as well.....but I don't know for sure yet. I got full weekend passes just in case we come down Thursday. I really don't expect we'll be there any earlier than Thursday.
Well, now I know why my dad was a little glum in the message he left me. No dice on the RV. Evidently there are some big football games going on the same weekend, and all the rental places within an hour away are out of stock. So it looks like we'll be hotelling it this time. Oh well, still better than not going at all.
We'll still come by and steal some food though. Cotter's got my phone #, so give me a shout if/what you want me to pick up and bring by.
Purchased plane tickets last night.....ouch, those hurt.
Looking forward to this. See you crazy bastards in a couple weeks!
I'll be down Wednesday (before the sun sets this year, for sure! Thanks for waiting up last year!) and heading back north Sunday morning. No Barth, it's currently under construction. I'll be packing up one of the Golfs as full as it can go and hope I remembered everything. Will bring a 10x10 pop-up and a cooler for sure.
@Dean - I'll call you some night this week or next and see what else I can bring down.
Really looking forward to it and seeing everyone. Really sad about the last ALMS race though. No flaking out Cotter!!!

Can't wait to see everybody either. Give me a call when you have time. Going to miss the Barth, but one of the Golfs should garantee an on-time arrival.
OK - It's Getting CLOSER to the date. How do I find you guys? I spent my limit on a Golf Cart - SO - I really need to be camping this year. I need space for a smallish 1-2 Man Tent.
there will be plenty of space for you Bob. I won't be down untiul Friday, but you can always call me when you get there & I can guide you to our spot. My number is 615-969-7675. If you're coming down before Friday, I can give you Dean's number.
Also, take a look a few posts up & you'll see an overhead image of the track with an arrow indicating where we usually set up.
Thanks for your ## Cotter. Mine is 321-431-0300. I saw the photo and know the general virginity of the campsite. Do we have an identifying flag or other obvious item to landmark with.
I don't know any of you guys by sight. Any other numbers (Dean) would be helpful - especially from anyone arriving Wed-Thurs.
I will be there no later than Mid-day Thursday if all goes well. I drive a steelish blue-grey (officially - Supersonic Blue Metallic) C6 Corvette Coupe a rarish factory color. I look like a cross between Ernest Hemingway (white beard) and Greg Allman. Not quite 62 but far from grown up - just an aging hippie - 6' 1" at around 250#. I might come by in a Golf Cart

Myself and a couple of other guys will be setting up sometime Wed. Morning. Roughly around where the arrow is. I'm not exaclty sure what all we will have but I will be brining a small teardrop camper that should stand out and in less I forget it an old logo ALMS "Welcome Race Fans" banner. Cotter will text you my number so feel free to call me if you have questions either in route or before. I will be in Dallas at client meetings on Mon/Tue so if you call then, leave me a message and I'll call back when I can.
Will be a small laid back group so you will fit right in.
I think I actually remember the teardrop in that area last year. I'll find the camp. Not sure if it will be Wed or Thur but I'm thinkg the earlier the better. Race schedule on Thursday and cost of Tix/Cart say get ther Wed and make it worth it. Cotter sent me your ## Dean.
If can save a spot, we'll be rolling in a Torch Red '06 Mustang GT. RV deal fell through, so we'll be coming and going each day. Let me know if you need us to bring anything. We're heading down to the area tonight, and will be at the track tomorrow. Cotter's got my number if you need to get a hold of me.

IT'S RACETIME MFERS!
Great See you there. Parking wont be an issue until Sat. You will be able to find us.
Nice to meet you guys in person. Wish the weather had been a bit dryer and warmer. I hope to see you next year - either here or Daytona24 or 12 Hours of Sebring.

Actually Sherb, I don't think I do have your number anymore. It was in my old phone & never made it over (just like all my other contacts lol).
Message me with it if you don't mind.
