In the market for a gaming cockpit/rig
I'm looking to get myself a cockpit/rig to go with my Thrustmaster tx when it arrives (yeah, I'm that excited). I'm currently considering the Obutto Revolution (stability plus keyboard tray and accessories are the big sell). Would like know if anyone has this and what they think, or what rigs people are using and what they think of them. Cheers!
Stinky has an Obutto IIRC. It's a very nicely designed rig and very stable,a good choice.
I have the Obutto Ozone and absolutely love it. It is made like a rock. A couple of friends also have the Obutto Revolution. It is also a great cockpit. One friend lives here in Eugene and so I have tried it out in person. The Revolution definitely has some advantages. The wheel and pedal plates are pre-drilled and so that is a plus. The wheel and pedal plates also have more adjustability compared to the Ozone. The reticulating keyboard tray that the Revolution has is an improvement over the Ozone keyboard tray. The Revolution also comes with a triple monitor stand, but my friend and I had a devil of a time getting the monitors securely mounted. The main problem is that the Revolution costs more than twice as much as the Ozone and I just am not sure, having tried both cockpits, that the cost is justifiable, particularly when the monitor stand is so difficult to get right.
When confronted with the choice of what cockpit to get, I went with the Ozone. Stinky also has the Ozone and I am confident he would recommend it highly as well.
Awesome Zero..... just the kind of feedback I was hoping for. Thanks! Ink.... would love to build my own.... hardly have enough time to really play, so spending a chunk of that doing a build isn't really on the menu right now. That being said, your build is fantastic! Really sharp, mate. Given your obvious talents for doing liveries, I'm not suprised that it transfers well to RL bricks and mortor.... ;)
Thanks for the comments ! Good luck with your choice. The only thing that I dont like about tubular rigs is that you get alot of wobble if you are attachiing a wheel with good FFB. I myself had a Playseat Evolution and no matter what I did to secure it I would still have wobbling. After building my own rig zero wobble and I get the full FFB at the wheel . Youtube DIY racing rigs you can get some good ideas and some dont take very long to build.
Very good point indeed... which is why I chose the Revolution.... the reviews I saw (Inside Sim Racing etc...) noted it for it's fantastic stability and said no wheel wobble for the R3volution. From what research I've done I've gotten some idea of which ones are likely to wobble.
Like the Revolution, the Ozone has no wobble. Period.

I like the satisfaction of building my own stuff. Not as nice as most these guys specially INK!! but....
Btw, not knocking purchasing pre built stuff. And plans are already in the works for an improved V2 cockpit
Looks Great Gunny...... I envy that you guys are able to find the time to both play Forza and build cool stuff like that.
