If you have a minute, I could use everybody's help with something important
I am participating in an event this year called Extra Life and I could use the help of the many generous members of our community.
First started in 2008, Extra Life is a charity event where gamers from all over the world come together for a 24 hour (25 this year due to DST ending on the day it's scheduled to occur) marathon of gaming to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network of Hospitals. All proceeds from this event go to the millions of children that the CMN helps every year. Nothing is used on any of the ancillary costs of staging this event nor is it used by CMN for anything other than entertaining and helping the kids.

I realize that there are a few things that I may have failed to talk about when I wrote my blog and created this post. Among them was the idea of donation matching. No I'm not talking about me matching your donations. I'm talking about companies that have programs wherein they will match charitable donations made by their employees. If you are employed by such a company (if you're not sure then contact Human Resources and find out) then might I suggest asking them if they would match any donation you make towards my efforts.
Now if money is an issue then I have written a blog post which specifically addresses that. You'll find that there are a number of ways in which you can help which don't involve donating anything other than a few minutes of your time.
So please, take a moment to do what you can to help me do something good for the children.

One week from today I expect to be several hours in to my 25 hour game-a-thon. I could really use your help to make it time well spent.
On November 2nd, I intend to spend 25 hours (daylight saving time ends on that day otherwise it would only be 24) as a participant of Extra Life 2013 playing games in order to raise money for Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland. But I can't do it alone. It is my hope that you, my many friends, will help support me in this effort whether it be by donating money via this link, by spreading the word amongst your friends, and/or by playing with me and helping sustain me through the 25 hour marathon of gaming. While gathering charitable donations is my ultimate goal, anything you are willing and able to do to help me see this plan to fruition would be greatly appreciated.
Some of you may be asking, "What exactly is Extra Life?" Well, Extra Life is an annual event which seeks to use the passion of gamers (video games, board games, table top RPGs, etc.) to help raise money for the Children's Miracle Network of Hospitals. Since it began, the event has raised over 4 million dollars (more than 2 million last year alone) for CMN.
So I ask you please, take a moment to help me do my part to help bring a little joy and laughter to some of the millions of children around the world who benefit from the many medical and research programs run and operated by the Children's Miracle Network of Hospitals.
