I feel your pain, my vid card is starting to go I think. My monitor's goes from being bright to dar back to bright. Thought it was the monitor at first til I hooked it up to two other pc's and the problem went away. I've gotten to the point though where I do less gaming on the pc than the xbox so not sure when I might get around to a new build. Will probably happen around the time ESO comes out though lol
Ammo, if you're in the market if a "new" used vid card give me a shout. I sim race with a bunch of guys (most are ex-2O4F nuts) that are occasionally upgrading hardware. A lot of the cards they are moving out of for increased performance in triple monitors are still typically pretty kick ass cards for singles. I don't think anyone is running less than 1G of vid RAM....most are 2-4. I think we've got one guy running 6GB and one loose cannon running a Titan (8G).
That a fair piece. I just pulled 2 1G 560Tis (SLi) out of my rig in favor of a single 4G 760 I got on sale from Newegg. One card is going to my "tech support" buddy, and the other will be going back into the desktop it came out of when I get around to building up the new sim rig (got all the parts minus cpu, mb & hard drives).
Well I've pretty much decided to just ride it out til whatever it is dies. Waiting on ESO and when they annouce that it is close to release I'm going to just build a new system. With the X1 coming tomorrow night I don't see the pc really getting used as much.
Now is a good time to take a look at the 700 series nVidia cards. Newegg also has the I5 3570k and I7 3770 on sale.
I will finally be able to use up the last 3 weeks of vacation I have comming. Time to log some FFXIV hours. :)
Here's what I'm typing on today - went to Fry's and price matched everything I could find online or in flyers and got 8G of RAM.

Seems like some good equipment there!
Nice mid-range machine for reasonable monies.
That'll get you by for a few years pending graphic requirements of your programs. Especially if you only run a single monitor.
I just wanted something stable that should be able to keep up overall without breaking the bank. This seemed like a good compromise.

Thanks for the headsup Sherb I'll keep that in mind. I have a Nvidia 570 right now running a single monitor.

That is probably a good idea.
