SSD vs HDD in PS4 (needs a SSHD comparison)

Shaves loading time in half for Resogun at least. I really would like somebody to get off their ass and do the SSHD comparison.

maybe no need - why pay twice as much to save 10 seconds?

since a lot of the installs will be 10gig to 50 gig, you will have to spend a lot of money to buy an equivalent 500gb ssd or even a 250gb ssd.

personally, I can wait a couple of minutes for the games to load like we do for current gen,  to say nothing of waiting extra 10 seconds.

save your SSD money and spend it on games instead.

wait a year or so and SSD prices will be more affordable.

Seagate Momentus Hybrid drives are damn fine options.

I believe UseNix is getting a 1TB drive.

Right now, I'm not planning for a new HDD. However, I did consider swapping the 500GB from the PS4 to my PS3, and my then putting the 750GB Momentus drive that's in my PS3 now into the PS4.

I know the Momentus drive made a massive difference (to me) in the load times on all digital content.

Most notably, Gran Turismo 5 and The Walking Dead (which were the big games I was playing at the time I got the drive)

I got a free seagate 1TB hybrid drive.  It is sitting in the box in my basement and I'm debating on swapping out the HD's once I get my PS4 tomorrow.  Decisions, decisions.

Part of me doesn't want to mess with my new baby.  The other half of me knows I will eventually need a larger drive.  Maybe I will play for a few days and then upgrade.    What would you guys do?

Swap as soon as possible and be done with it.

You could still do it later and back up your game saves with PS+ and copy them back down to the new drive.  That's about the only time consuming thing there is.

The entire process of swapping out an HD is very simple if you can follow instructions.

Nice.  I did the same as soon as I received mine.  The initial OS load was a lot faster on the PS4 than on the PS3.
