Not sure really how many out of the number of systems they build are messing up. Its going to seem like a lot since the people with broken systems will flood the internet to voice thier frustration. Rightly so. I'm sure though its a small percentage out of the overall numbers. Of this website alone only two people in the PS4 forums have had problems and one of them fixed their problem by simply replacing the HDMI cable. So really only one person here has had a problem.
I'm sure this week for the X1 we will see the same thing, pre-ordered mine through Best Buy so I'll get the extended coverage plan just in case. Nothing new in electronics really, I've had a TV last a week before and then part of the screen started messing up. It just happens.
