[FM4] Future series.....Need a bit of help on this one.
[FM4] Future series.....Need a bit of help on this one.
I'm going to run a Grand Am inspired series using the Mazda RX8-R3, 2010 Camaro SS, 2008 BMW M3, and one of the Porches.
Max handicap will be 10%. All cars will be built to approximately A600. I will likely use a power limit on the Porsche or some other form of equalizing it to the other cars. Basically they will be A600 cars with a few parts that may take them over A600. For instance the Mazda and the BMW will go over A600 with a racing gear box swap. The BMW will probably have race clutch and flywheel to make the car a little lighter (but will need to run MAX aero-to equalize the speed)
I need some folks to run these cars by themselves or in lobbies with others. Any issues with them let me know. From build or tune I'm going to try and make these cars equal.
If interested in the builds or tunes let me know. I have the Mazda finalized, and I think the Camaro too. I need more work with the BMW And Porsche.
I'm probably a month out on starting this. I'm going to try and pick a slot that allows more participation. I'm not sure what's available but I'm likely going to move away from Thursday nights if I can't get an earlier slot. Something like 6:30 or 7:00 est.

I did some quick testing at Catalunya and they are all VERY similar actually.
I need others to drive the cars especially the Porche since I'm not particularly good at tuning or driving those rear engined cars.
I put ALL of these cars in the NA club garage and sent a few tunes out. Let me know if you want a tune.
Send some tunes over and will have a look boss
Send over that RX8 please! I'll help with testing in the lobbies as well.
I will try the MazdaRX8-R3.
I sent the paint for that car to you Ink....And Celeti and Shrimp since you guys are in Florida.
I'll send out tunes tomorrow maybe later tonight.
instead of a power handicap, how about a tire handicap. Start with race move to street and then stock tires. just a thought, or have we already tried that.
This! Grip handicaps for a change of pace...
You could also do weight increases. start at race weight reduction, and add weight for each level.
Im interested in the camaro tune.
I will have a look later and try and do some laps
I think I have at least 3 paints already in the can for the Camaro if anyone's in a pinch for a paint. If Gunny's listening, I have an orange paint for the RX-8. BMW and Porsche, no clue, but I probably do. Didn't the AUDI's run the Rolex series? I seem to remember an APR team maybe?
I'll upload the tunes on my storefront in case people want to try them quickly without waiting for me to send them over.
I'll snag those from your SF and tinker. I'm the rookie in this bunch, so getting a '3rd-string driver' perspective is the best I can do.
I don't have paints either... if anyone puts someting up, I'll buy the beer (pay for it, it's fair) (I see a few posts about paints on sf's so far, thx.
Series sounds good. Dunno if I can make it, but will add these to me 'learn how to keep 'em on the road' list.
BTW- the Boss 302 could be a fav of mine, if avail. It's DLC, bought with a Pak. I bought it.
Got the tune from the storefront. and the first impression is very nice, the car handles smooth on Sebring. even the bumpy last corner is no problem.
I've still got a bunch of work to do on this one but will complete it since many liveries on the Camaro are similar but with different colors.
This one is DONE and took a while too. I'll be doing one more RX-8.
I have a little more work to do on this one but it's getting close.
Are those replica's? My paints are just my paints. I do have some Rolex vinyls though.
Im going to try and make this one (depending on the time slot). Thursdays are a bit toughter for me due to work but I'll try and stop by when I can
Oldschool those are replicas ya.
Grim I may try and find another time slot. The 9pm est slot isn't going to work for me anymore. And with the GT5 track day earlier Thursday I may have to switch nights. I'll have to do some checking of the schedule to see what's available.
Is the 2011 Boss 302 Mustang DLC or is that one a Unicorn?
THAT is the car that will have to require a power handicap. The Porche can be equalized with the build, but the only way to make the Mustang handle like the other cars is to install upgrades that cut weight. Like the exhuast and air filter and flywheel and clutch.....Basically the build I have has every possible weight saving part on it except I did install the race cage which add weight.
The power ends up way to high though. Possibly a 15-20% power handicap in the Mustang exclusive bucket would work.
YET ANOTHER THING I WISH FM5 HAD AND IT DOESN'T. MORE PLAYER BUCKETS.
Track list will be finalized later but I'm thinking
Mugello Full
Nurburgring GP Full
Road America
Maple Valley
Camino Vejo Extreme
Possibly others.
See what I did there LOL
Drivebye and I are going to be taking the Tuesday night (9pm Est) timeslot once the supermini's end next week for some R3 stuff for about 6 weeks or so but other than that, the schedule is up to date.
Is the Camaro ZL1 a DLC car or a Unicorn?
We may run the Porsche Cayman R instead of the 911. This is an effort to make the cars closer in performance in both acceleration and top speed. (they all seem really close in the grip department.
I could run the ZL1 Camaro with the aspiration glitch to remove the supercharger.
But then the Mazda would need a boost in top speed as well and I don't want to mess with that car. More power will only make it less driveable. So I think the best solution would be to dump the 911 and run the Cayman R.
BTW there will be rules for this series. Including required logos.
The Grand/Am Rolex logo on each side and front/rear and Continental Tires logo's above at least one wheel arch per side. And your race number on both sides hood and rear bumper.
BTW I have at least a few replays from the AIX series. That series had a ton of rules as far as decal placement but the replays and photos from those replays are REALLY nice. It looked like a REAL organized race series.
I did build and tune these. The RX8 drove nice but i do like the Camaro
How were lap times when comparing the cars?
Any build changes necessary do you think?
Ya I will tonight.
I think required vinyls will only be a black "GS" in a white box, the Grand Am Rolex series logo and the Continental tires logo. Oh ya and your race number.
As I was saying the required vinyls in the Nasa AIX series really made the cars look like they were part of a real life organized racing series. However since it may have been a bit much for some I am reducing the number of required vinyls for this series. Pictured below is the vinyl group I will send as well as a same of the minimum required vinyls
This picture is the layer group I will send to anyone interested in running the series.
The logo on the top left and top right are essentially the same. The logo on the right uses a more accurate Crown Royal script. (Thanks Jimmy!!). The logo on the left is less accurate but uses much less layers. Which you use is up to you. I would use the one on the right on my grand am paints but find I don't have enough layers available.
This logo goes on each side near the front of the front door or on the front fender behind the front wheel arch.
The logo in the middle (the one lacking the crown royal) goes on the front bumper and on the rear bumper.
The Continental tires logo must go over one or both wheel arches on each side of the car.
The SunTrust logo should be scaled similarly to the Grand am logo that is placed on the each side, and should be mounted below the Grand Am logo.
The "GS" logo should be placed somewhere on each side of the car
The black logo on the bottom middle is the fuel fill used on these Grand Am cars. Most have it mounted in the middle of the boot/trunk/hatch lid.
You also need to place your race number on each side of the car and on the rear bumper.
This is what a car meeting the MINIMUM requirements might look like. I would like to see something with an actual paint but I'm posting this to show that it ISN'T complicated.
This photo is of the fuel fill, rear bumper logo and race number. I think the race number is scaled appropriately but NOT the fuel fill and Grand Am logo. If you want to run them that big that's fine but they look better/more realistic scaled smaller.
I hope this is on weekends. I really miss racing with a group. Can I have the Camaro tune?
BTW, the ZL1 has a glitch? How does it work?
The ZL1....
Install the turbo charger. Buy the middle or highest level in the engine upgrade section. Now sell it. Now the car has even less power than stock. (This essentially removes the stock Supercharger)
If you ever want to convert it back to the stock supercharger you have to go to "conversions" and convert it back to to stock from the turbo upgrade.
The ZL1....
Install the turbo charger. Buy the middle or highest level in the engine upgrade section. Now sell it (while still in the engine upgrade section). Now the car has even less power than stock. (This essentially removes the stock Supercharger)

I'm still not sure on the timing. I'll review the schedule and then post something in the next few days.
