VTCC 2012

So i got the latest version of this mod downloaded and have been running the shit out of it all evening.

Overall feedback

Car models=excellent and all dashes work, dislike the tinted windows but very minor nitpicking

Sounds=excellent probably the best natural tire sounds ive heard in rfactor alot like gsc!

FFB/Physics=good same as the wtcc 2013 mod

personally I nominate this mod over wtcc 13 hands down for many reasons, graphics, sounds everything is working, and is has far more cars to select from.  I hate to say it but I feel it could become our priemier series, dont get me wrong I love my btcc but this one out does it in every field, both fwd and rwd are evenly matched and running similar times the fwd can be pushed harder to run a quicker lap but can only do it for a few laps before the tires get cooked the rwd can be drive hard and make the tires last far longer.....so adds another strategy to the game.

Ive driven every car and there all a blast with the merc currently my favorite

If we decide to go with this mod theres a few minor things that will need to be addressed quickly

Skins....there are plenty by a few under extras have driver written on the windscreen that will need to be renamed and all the vtcc car have russian names on them...no biggie

Ballast id like to incorporate this into the mod as i feel it keeps the race very competitive and a chance for anyone to win a race.  Iam hoping it will be a simple copy and pace from the btcc mod but id like someone with a little more knowledge to look into it.

 

Liking the mod i transfered the 8 short tracks from what i was gonna use in the wtcc mod and compressed everything into one file so youll just have to install a fresh rf lite and extract the files and youll be good to go!

I added my little tweaks if you dont like it just turn it off

Track map....you will need to go to plugins open the trackmap folder and set map to rotate or fix to appear ingame

all tracks mostly isi content have been updated with SLN texture and shader pack to give it a nicer modern look

I think you guys will like the track selection7 out of 8 are less than 2.5km so it will make things close

Iam currently uploading the mod to google drive and ill update this thread with the file in the morning....it will be close to a 1gb dl sorry Knight

If you guys can test for any bugs it would be greatly appreciated than will give it the big test the following friday after the btcc finale......will mp work?

Oh, didn't know you were going to do that. I read your post this morning and have already uploaded Version 3.00, the sound packs and painting templates for the Windows,RIMS and Body.

I am also preparing a Special 2O2P BTCC trackpack with the updated track layout versions with a AIW.SVM to tell the AIW to use a higher gearbox ratio. The Special trackpack is to remove the MISMATCH problems that you experienced before.

Kurupts got Version 3.01, which is not the base mod.

Version 3.00 is the base mod before it's been modified with all the league drivers personal cars, and has both Mercedes. The original base mod and files made by VRC/DANZ are in my google link above.

Iam a bit confused?

ill upload yours, the one I got has the rims, body, sound and patch already bundled in. if you could seperate the btcc tracks that would be great as I don't want to be running a back to back btcc series :) 

the gearing fix is awesome I was trying to do some tea search on how to fix it but didn't really put much effort.  What's the other Mercedes body? The one that was originally in stcc for race 07? 

Looking forward IF we were to replace our current btcc cars with these ones and the tracks all work properly we would need another mod for between series so we don't kill this one.....any ideas?

I was thinking the same for a while as ive been following the thread at rd and the dev stated a while back that he was working on updating all the models and was near completion but yet to see a release.  The current mod is hella fun but the graphics are a bit rough around the edge.  What Iam thinking so i dont put too much on plate at once and rush things into a mess like i usually do, is run a 8 track series with the vtcc mod and get to learn it following the btcc season than if mango can sort the updated btcc track will vote and see if the vtcc mod should replace our current btcc mod using btcc tracks.  If its a yes will vote/test a completely different mod and run a short 8 race series with the choosen mod

@ Mango i went through your uploadthe mod is the same stuff theres only 2 differences yours has no liveries and mine does which is less work for tartan as he only needs to change the name plates and yours has a helmet file which can easily be added.  Your upload is also split into seperate folders that need downloading the one i got has everything bundled into one dl which could be a bit less confusing for some :)

the sound updates is what brings it to 3.01v....while browsing I realized that the vtcc and wtcc 13 both use the same core which is racer-x converted from simbin race 07 series they also share the same sound file update.....so its essentially the same mod as wtcc 13 just using more car models.

Could you do me a favor and upload the the ai gear fix file and the fix btcc track pack please :) cheers mate

It does have 2 slightly different Mercs though.

just a thought but instead of using another mod, why don't we have seasons in other countries?

The US, Scandinavia, Australia for example has some fantastic short tracks and might attract more to the league.

Ok saw the 2 mercs seems the only difference is a lower front grill and 2 small vents on the grill.....no biggie i can just upload that file and drag n drop into the mercs which seemed to work.  

@ tartan know that iam actually awake did you mean run the same mod for al series just using different track packs for each?

2 minor bugs ive come across that dont effect gameplay at all.....

in upgrades you can choose tire brands but when you buy one and install it the tire doesnt change in the menu....it always stays as the advan tire

second there looks to have a bunch of f1 helmet skins installed in the mod but none of the skins are visable when scrolling through and ingame due to the tinted windows you can hardly even the driver.  Like I said it would be cool to have the features but doesnt effect the overall gameplay

Sorry I meant something like VTCC with a specific national set of tracks like an entire season based on Australian tracks for example.

Then when that's done, back to the BTCC (hopefully updated with a few extras by then.

i did suggest a race of champions tournament one Friday night to wrap up this season which would be a laugh and could buy us a little more time, maybe some GBR guys could join us?

Usually a KTM crossbow (but others use the palatov D1 in rfactor) a small road car (Polo or clio ?) and an Audi R8.

Okay just been playing around in the Focus Saloon just like the one I drive IRL (Yeah right) All seemed okay though I could have done without all the tracks I already have being bundled in the download but I guess it makes sure there are no mismatches online...But the mod seems okay, very Race 07 I thought. A little over grippy, I haven't managed to spin it yet, though that could be that I know the tracks I was driving well, and already know where not to push. FFB is okay, better than most rF1 mods out the box. Sound much better than my current BTCC Focus, overall very good.

I think if the decision is to run these cars for the BTCC series as well there will be no complaints from me,.

Anyhoo thumbs up.

As i stated before the core is converted from race  07.....Ill agree about the grip and there well planted , iam thoroughly enjoying the rwd bit more grip than most rf mods but for this type of racing with bumping and door bashing I dont think its a bad thing? hopefully less incedents with a more stable car. Which will also hopefully allow the rwd cars to push a bit harder.

As for the tracks all of them i added SLN texture updates to them and like you said no worries about mismatches.     Last nite i remembered i forgot a track.....i originally wanted to use seabring club and instead added knockhill 11 also brands hatch is a different version from what we are running in the btcc.

The big test is making sure it works on line and how the car feels on track.....that grippy feeling could alter with x2 tire wear, possible ballast and other cars bumping you around :)

Do any of our techies know who to incorporate an opening scene video intro to rfactor?

EDIT:

I found going into the upgrades and purchasing the med powersteering ffb felt nice strong was too much

I briefly experimented copy/psting the ballast from the btcc mod to the vtcc i suceeded on geting it into the game but iam unable to purchase or install it?  Could someone knowledgeable take a crack at it?

Just put the movie into the movie folder, job done I think. As for the ballast that has to be fairly integral to the mod, it is going to change the underlying physics so much more than a cut and paste job I would think.

Ya that's what I figured from what I could gather from the btcc mod....it's looks to effect the down force and drag of the car and alters those lines in the cars physics.  Might have to have hawks or f1 to help us out on this one there pretty knowledgeable in those fields

@ mango since your in control of the server......iam not sure what the ai difficulty is set at? Could you add 5 ai for now and if knight said he was running a sec faster up the ai difficulty 3% to start and see how there times are compared to the humans.  I jumped on just to test the compatability and if memory serves me correctly from my testing of to an I was running I believe I was running mid 1min and was a bit faster in fwd, being were all pretty close I think 3% increase will be a good start.

also if your pc can handle it maybe change the time to 3pm x10 time ?

Your changes have been made on the server.

 

Some important points you need to think about. I most probably wont be around for most the VTCC 2012 championship as it's the Christmas Period. You'l have to make a decission on race distance as I most likely wont be around to keep changing it every race.

You need to read through the server commands list http://www.simracing.sk/download/rfactor/rf.pdf and make a note of the most useful ones like editgrid, setmass (BALLAST).

In all honesty i dont think the actual series will start till after the holidays...theres the ROC to be run and we havent even tested it yet which i would like to do once or twice before it starts :)

@ mango could you raise the ai another 5% please

not that it's a major concern or could really effect us but do you know if every car has its own pits or if cars with two versions like the ford, BMW and Mercedes might have to share ? 

@ tartan are you able to change the name and number plate on BMW gandapaka power please?

i now see why knight got confused with the ai, I was running a few laps in the server and they were communicating with one another using the chat.....I've never seen that before

AI strength increased to 108% on the server.

Just checked the pitgroups in some of the VEH files, I can confirm a lot of cars share the same pitgarages.

@kurupt yep I'll do that no proble. Only one livery can be added to the mod at the moment and going by AMD's history it'd be best to wait till it's in the flesh. And having no Avensis means no Karcher or United autosport liveries. But most gutting of all is Rob Austin losing Wix sponsorship this season to Adam Morgan's Ciceley Merc.
