Finally: The Good Stuff. Competitive Destiny Multiplayer Reveal
So, they're going to force jerks like me to play the campaign, at least for a while before hitting multiplayer, and then having to pop back in after more multiplayer. There are some clear, game-imposed plateaus that sound like they're going to push you back into the campaign, for whatever reason. That news, coming from pretty much anybody else, would annoy me, but from Bungie, I think I can give them the benefit of the doubt. With that being said, I'm not wild about being forced to have to go back and forth. I'd much rather stay in the PvP world and never even touch the other side of the game, but I'm sure all components of this game will be done good, and it'll at least be worth your time.
It does sound like this game is a very hard game, and is likened to Dark Souls, which sounds compelling to me as well. I didn't play that game, but I do appreciate games that are difficult in the right way (think Legendary difficulty Halo over COD's hardest difficulty, where Halo increases the skill of the enemies that are present, and COD keeps respawning enemies forever until you hit a checkpoint, even with supernatural abilities in many cases as well.)
I'm sure we'll see more stuff released closer to the beta date. I'm still not sure if I'd pour myself into this game like I did for previous Halo titles, but blowing throughthe main missino and selling it back is a pretty real possibility. Either way, I'm sure it'll be fine.
I guess what I really mean is that I don't see you years from now waxing poetic about how competitve Destiny 1.0 was. In other ways, you might find it fun for awhile.
Personally, I am perplexed by the late release and beta. It's setting my alarm bells off. I am also about to start calling the stride of most game characters, the hoppy-hop-walk. It looks like some stupid movement out of a Disney animation.
Well, yeah. It'll probably be at least as much fun as Borderlands or Defiance, and those were decent, although they didn't make me love them.
I don't care so much about the walk. Shoot the funny walking things on the other team, then.
I don't think that I like that fact that Bungie is not going to let you jump right into mp. I think that jumping straight int mp is something that any game with mp should allow you to do. I do still think it will be a good game, I just hope that they rethink that a little. I do, however, like that you use the same character in mp that to use in sp. Hopefully that means that we will see a level of player variation that we haven't seen before. Some of the armor looks fantastic. Lars said that the game moves faster than Halo, so I will have to see for myself how much faster the game moves. I have come to realize that I don't like twitch shooters, so if it's too fast, I might not like the mp. Hopefully, it's not too fast. Overall, the game looks great, and I can see myself enjoying it even if I don't like the mp.
I have no issues with not being able to just jump into MP. This is an RPG type game, so if you are just new to the game, you are going to get raped by higher level people. Really looking forward to this come September.
