[PGR4] FM4 UPDATE in post from 1/22/15 - The Dead Zone - (Project Gotham Racing 4 2007)
Welcome to the Dead Zone. Gamers who are super cheap and do not compromise their standards. I've recently picked up Project Gotham Racing 4 (PGR4) and am having a great time. Link to review below which I pretty much agree with.
Features that I like.....
No tuning needed. (Sorry Gearheads, but good for idiots like me.)
Limited paints.
Variable weather conditions in a 2007 release (Take note T10)
Tracks, tracks, tracks. (Did I mention tracks?) 81 different versions at 10 different locations (Not including Reverse)
Am going to see tonight if I can run the Ring in reverse with a REAL RACE TIMER!(You bet your sweet bippy you can! 12/26/2013)Career mode (For drivers who like to play with themselves).
Multiplayer - Still works. Insanerc and I ran some races. And as long as person running the lobby has bought the track packs (I have) everyone can do them. One drawback is that in order to do multiplayer you need 2 players to run a race. You can't start and have someone jump in like FM4. Wheels (mine at least) works but Ziggy_Proline and insanerc say the force feedback doesn't. But you still get your rumble. And it controls the bikes just fine without the jerky movements you get with the left analog stick. I can actually do one of the 1st person views and not get sick.
Currently $2 at Gamestop.
Well over a 100 cars at least. Plus a lot of bikes for variety. Arcade type racing but a lot of fun. I'm curious as to whether we could do the Multiplayer. I have tried but get nothing when I select that option. My guess is no but I think it might be worth some of you getting the game and then we could test it out. The worst case scenario would be that you have a nice game for a cheapie price. I remember doing GT4 & TT by Polyphony Digital for 5 years after with a core bunch of guys. I was at one point doing up to 7 different races or time trials on a weekly basis. Friends playing the same game is the key.
Kudos to all who try this out. (pun intended) Get the game and you'll figure it out.

Ring in reverse
Old grab a used PS3. ITs the cheapest way into the next level racing games
You know I really do think I have this in the loft.
Will check tomorrow. I can remember racing at the Ring in the snow?
I'll get it this weekend. Can I use a wheel?
You can use a wheel, but it won't do you any good!!
I loved the PGR series, but from memory the wheel was a little too slow to catch slides and stuff!
I've still got PGR 2,3 and 4 for the 360! PGR 2 was awesome as it had a circuit in Edinburgh that was pretty close to the real thing!
I never get rid of my games. I brought PGR4 years ago and have had a few good nights in multiplayer.
All you guys send me a FR. Then I'll see when you are on. I have plenty of room on my list. Some have left because of my message on my Bio page. lol.
Waiting and I'm not as creepy as some of the guys in this video. http://youtu.be/a7AeG0U83zg
Review in post #1.
Two weeks into the game and am having a ball. Did 1st 2 seasons on easy to build up my kudos so that I could purchase all of the car/bike packs. Have spent more time on the bikes. It is something that I enjoyed with the Tourist Trophy game from PD in 2005. They had GT4 & TT in separate games with many of the same tracks. And I've enjoyed the Moto GP series so it was a good fit. The weather effects are fun and most of all the tons of tracks. I turn off the map and really have to dial back the aggressiveness or you are in the wall. I'm using the middle difficulty now and getting my butt kicked but I shine occasionally.
On a different note. Sons got me F1 2012 for Christmas so that is another game to keep me from the boring FM4 tracks.
Insanerc and I just finished running races in MULTIPLAYER!! It still works. We even had some players jumping in and out of the lobby while we were in the race. We of course ran Nurburgring in reverse in the classic Maserati 250F formula race car. Thinking of doing a race night. Shame we can't do a room title. Backward Racists sounds good.
I picked it up but the DLC is no longer available. I guess MS took it down because its "outdated". If you hear differently please let me know.
Don't know about the DLC part. Only know about the tracks/cars/bikes you can buy with your earned Kudos in the PGR shop. Access it from the main menu.
Picked up Project Gotham Racing 4 Strategy Guide for 0.01. Throw in shipping costs and the total came to $4.00. Should arrive in 4 -14 days. Mr. Cheapie scores again.
Time Trial info in post #2.
Thane62 - 1:18.52
The sun was in my eyes. I had to pee. I haven't played this in a long time. I'm sure I could improve a bit once I deal with some of these problems.
It is at night. And I can't help you with the other stuff. Time updated on post #2 LB.
I guess the reason I'm enjoying this game so much is that it reminds me of my days with the GT Series. I remember playing GT4 (a 2004 release) and Tourist Trophy (2005) well into the 2010's. No online component then but tons of races/TT's/etc through the forums at GTPlanet and good old typing in of our results. I could participate in the plethora of events even with my crappy RL schedule and compare myself to others.
Arcade style racing. 2007 graphics, You bet, but a ton of fun on tracks that I have been having a ball trying to learn. And cars I am an expert at tuning. Painting has become a second love of mine. Most times I don't even get to finish the race in the lobbies because the default in multiplayer for the EOR timer is 45 secs. But keeping all of my KUDOS that I accumulate during the race because I don't hit the walls and lose them.
In the arcade tests that insanerc loves so much I actually do quite well. I know how to stay between the cones.
Why do you keep putting me down? I don't like the tests get over it.
The same reason you keep calling me an old man. It's called teasing. Seems someone has lost their sense of humor?
But in fairness I will refrain from the written word. Usually my humor is lost on everyone but myself.
Moved to Racing events area!
Although i'm struggling to get time on Forza and GT6 lately fella!
Will quite down soon though :)
New TT comp in post #2.
I improved my TT #1 time to 1:15.69 which gave me a leaderboard rank of 70.
My TT #2 time is 1:07.92 which is number 67 on the leaderboard.
Rankings in post #2 updated, champ!!!!. I have rd #3 & 4 in the can. So I'll put them up soon. Maybe some of the other rich guys here will go slummin with our $2 game. Did the Fox game on Macua with some guys from Germany the other day.
I'll send you a FR.
Here's a suggestion in case the rich guys want to catch up on TTs. Copy and paste the instructions next to the round, like this:
Round #2 (Go to Single Player/Time Attack/Shanghai/The Grand Theater/Clear weather/F Class and choose the RR1200 Bike.)
Next 3 tracks are E, D & C class at London's Her Majesty's Pleasure, St Petersburg's The Hermitage & Quebec's Abraham's Battlefield. Why don't you chose the next 2 after that. Pick a track that will be fun for the B & A classes.
B class at New York, The Bridge Tour. Leaderboard car is Jag XJ220S.
A class at Las Vegas, Long Strip Straits. Leaderboard car is Ultimate Aero but I think driving the Caparo T1 is more fun.
Those will be next after the 3.
