I have Thursdays off and wouldn't mind jumping in....ATM I can't help much with cars as I don't have much ingame coin and it seems tuning one car takes a few hundred thousand out of the bank so I've only thrown a few parts on cars and don't have anything over 450 currently.  Once I get ahead I'll submit some cars just tell me what pp you want them at and what type of cars twist your nipples  and I'll do my best for ya :)

kurupt, do the latest seasonal events and get gold.  You will have millions of credits before you know it.  Gold should be quite easy for you to achieve.

Parcells...Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone...How about a meeting of the minds between you and 3G's. I see he has a slew of cars he has tuned and between the two of you can come up with several to run and maybe we can get the 3G's back on board. Just a Idea!

Am I mistaken that if your hosting a lobby and choose the option " one make" or something like that, doesn't everyone get to race that car without having to purchase it? Or do you still have to own the vehicle and it's just a stock only setting more or less? Why I'm asking is for people who got gt6 after the glitch fix and can't really afford 10 cars a month every month especially if some are gonna cost alot.

the issue is that the one make option only has a handful of cars to choose from I think

That is exactly the problem. I'm already struggling to come up with a decent car we haven't already run.

I'm expecting any week now we will be able to gift cars at which point  it wont be a problem and really shouldn't be anyway as 6 million can be won easily and quickly doing seasonal events if you max out your daily log-in bonus. We dont need to start out with million dollar rides and I'm certainly not going to screw anyone over if they cant come up with the car so bring it on Burnt what do you want to drive?

Parcells...Had a better time last night with the Caterham Car...My minus the Skid Recovery skills still need some serious tweaking with the Nissan. I thought with 4Wheel Drive there would not be any issues...WRONG...Seems I was spinning out on TOO many corners or almost which led to some crazy driving. Need to concentrate more with the gas pedal and don't worry about catching up too fast...All and All...A GREAT TIME!!yes

P.(arcell)S...Hopefully skills will improve dramatically next week!surprise

Me too, go figure LOL, Caterham is awesome! Definitely the fastest spec car so far pretty sure I fucked up atleast once in 4 of 6 races it wasn't pretty at all but did manage some great battles throughout the night (more with the Caterham) because it wasn't just you and I having troubles thats for sure.

Here's a few ideas I'll throw out there that might bring some new ideas to our series:

1) Flying Starts = what if we try one or two IndyCar-style flying starts each week. In a flying start, the pole-sitter leads the field around at pace speed (say 65 mph) up until the final turn which leads back to the S/F line. At this point it's up the leader to start the race and he can put the pedal to the floor whenver he wants (as long as it's before the S/F line.) No one else can go until the leader goes and the leader cannot sit back or rev the engine to fake a start - once he commits to go, the race is on. We'd have to add an extra lap to the race for the start, and we'd have to make sure every one knows what we're doing, but it would definitely add something new to race starts.

2) Multi-class Fields = with 10-12 guys in the races lately what if we took a race each week and made it multi-class - half the guys race a 600PP car and the other half race a 300PP car AT THE SAME TIME! We could do qualifying and reverse the field so that the 300PP cars all start up front. At the start of the race we could give the 300PP cars a 15- or 20-second head-start (guys sitting at the S/F line would just watch the clock on the screen at go at the designated time.) At the end of the race we'd swap cars - guys who ran the 300PP cars in the first race would run the 600PP cars in the second race, and vice versa. Imagine a tight race between a couple of 600PP cars and suddenly you're coming up on couple of 300PP cars racing each other hard. Could make for some interesting moments.

3) Parcells could create a page within the Spec Car spreadsheet which will keep a running tab of all of the cars we all decide to purchase on the side for the non-spec car races. That way no one is ever in doubt as to what cars we may run in the non-spec races. I would keep all of the spec cars stock (unmodified) to keep things simple. Only downside is it creates some busy work for Parcells!

4) Time-Progression = it would be great to see us use more time progression during races so that they start in daylight and end in twighlight (or perhaps even darkness.) The Sunday Roadster race at Mt Panorama was awesome with the time progression. It definitely adds to the racing.

Finally some good feedback :), thank you Sir. Now don’t take it personal as I provide Parcells known brutally honest feedback on your ideas. It just so happens I’m not in favor of a couple of your ideas but so be it, that happens it’s nothing personal and it’s not a big deal either.

Regardless of my feelings I will go with the majority of the room so if anyone wants to try any or all of Jason’s ideas let me know and we’ll work something out. For now these are my thoughts on the ideas…

Straight up I prefer standing starts but don’t mind rolling starts but the complexity to get this organized is a deterrent for sure. That said we could try it if people speak up on race night but my recommendation would be to schedule/plan this with a spec car vs. randomly trying it for the first part of the evening.

Parcells has never seen the point of multi-class races as, from my perspective, all it does is reduce the number of potential good race battles I could possibly have in half and since close battles is the only reason I race it makes no sense to me??? However if we want to run multi-class races I recommend they be scheduled as part of the spec races for that week and plan the cars etc.

Totally agree with this idea and my plan was to update post #2 with these cars but maybe the spreadsheet will be better, either way not a problem. I’m guessing you have a typo above where you recommend the spec cars all be stock to keep things simple, did you mean the non-spec cars by chance? Last week’s plan to start purchasing more cars to run during the non spec races was definitely to keep these cars stock but to continue to allow any build for the spec cars. I will clarify below (later today) that although stock we may decide to purchase better tires for these stock cars IF the majority of the room wants to…stock tires may be shit but usually quite manageable.

Agreed. Personally I think weather/time races are better served during the spec races so the creator can get exactly the right settings for the particular track etc as these don’t always work out as you plan if the settings are not correct. However someone just needs to remind me to set some time/weather variables when any of these tracks are chosen and it will be done.

I think for next week’s spec car I’ll schedule a qualifying session for the first race only to mix it up a bit and sooner or later will schedule some longer races where a pit stop strategy is involved but this will be spec cars for sure.

We could take this approach to throw in some rolling starts OR we could use the rolling start options the game provides for us. Checked last night and there are 2 rolling start options...single and double file.

Jason - maybe you'll want to pick one of these options for your Feb 20 spec car oval race??

Spreadsheet updated with this weeks car. We'll be driving the awesomeness that is the 2011 Renault Sport Megan Trophy car (base model or regular version doesn't matter). Its another Parcells favorite which also happens to be the feature car in Grimms upcoming event starting in two weeks time running on Saturday afternoons you may want to check it out I'm giving it the Parcells stamp of approval!!! Same car and build but of course no oil change because those are the rules and Parcells hate's oil changes on new cars.

We will start choosing 10 cars per month to run during non spec races but will not start this until February. For now I'll pick a few cars each week to purchase for the upcoming week and this weeks cars are listed below. I want to mention that just like the One make cars in the game we can change the tire compound for these monthly stock cars which has already been decided for 2 of the 3 for this week. Total costs of this weeks package (all 4 cars) is under $300,000.00. Still have only heard from very few people on what cars they want to run so get them submitted if you care.

Also this week I'm going to start the spec races with a qualification session. Just the first race and I'm going to put my reputation on the line with my percieved prowess of the London circuit...For anyone who beats my qualification time (dont bother, you cant) I will acknowledge your superiority with a heartfelt post in this thread stating your superior superiority over Parcells but I'm pretty sure it wont come to that.

Cars to purchase for this week...

1) Renault RS Turbo 5 - 1980 - sport soft tires

2) Chevy Camaro SS - 2010

3) Mini Cooper S - 2011 - sport soft tires

weekly reminder that anyone can submit a spec car/track combo.

Parcells...Hate to sound like a dumb ass but a couple of questions...Where is the Spreadsheet Info for the Renault?...Or is stock with sport soft tires...Also where are the tracks?...Lastly...are we to qualify to see who runs in what order and if so does that mean you will be on the front row every race?yeslaugh

P.(arcell)S...When I clicked the spreadsheet it said Opel Speedster.

There is no spreadsheet for the Renault, Chevy and Mini..all three will be run stock and we will vote for the tracks we run.

The link you used to the spreadsheet will always take you to the Opel Speedster...you need to find the tabs at the bottom and navigate to the last tab on the left where the build and tracks for this week are listed...the tabs are all dated and I try to move the most recent to the far left.

ONLY the first race of the spec car races (London) will qualifying be used...every other race will be the usual reverse grid ordering based on previous race results.

Parcells your feedback to my suggestions was just fine - I'm just throwing out some ideas. My thought on the rolling-starts is just to do one here and there - maybe one spec race per week. I definitely wouldnt want to do them more than once or twice since standing-starts are the best (nothing like the action going into turn-1 each race!)

Another idea that came to mind after this morning's Mazda race at Monza - perhaps we could devote one Thursday a month to a longer race. Instead of doing five short races, on one Thursday each month we'll do two short races followed by one medium-length race, which would have a mandatory pit stop. These long races do have a different element to them since they open up the door for changes in weather and time.

And, finally, might I suggest we add a shifer-class go-kart to the lineup? I dont like running karts on the kart tracks, but they're lots of fun on Tskuba, Autumn Ring Mini, and Eiger Norgwand Short Track. Rolling-starts with go-karts might be worth a shot!

We can throw in go-karts and run them for non-spec races no problem...all someone needs to do is submit a go-kart and I'll schedule them in.

Totally agree on longer races being scheduled for spec races from time to time be it monthly or something similar...that has always been the case.

I’ll let you know tonight Wheels as it appears someone opened their big mouth bragging about how fast Parcells is at the London track so now I’ll have to spend some time “practicing” (shudders) to back up that idiotic claim.

Parcells...No Problem...I know you are quick and a excellent racer but just wanted to get a idea how fast guys are running since there is no way of knowing like Forza 4..Just a way of knowing if I can somehow hang in there or go to the back of the bus.yeslaugh

51.268 was the best I could muster Wheels. If I get close to that tomorrow I'll be happy as It seems very close to my limit.

remember that although this is the same car as Grimms awesome series starting a week from this Saturday there is no oil change in tomorrow's car.

Wheels,

Under the transmission settings set your maximum speed setting from 174 to 168. That alone should gain about half a second.

The other changes I made to the car include (this is a comprehensive list btw)

  • -Camber on both tires to 0
  • -Front ARB - 5
  • -Differential acceleration - 45
