They never said Halo 5 in 2014. They said Halo on Xbox One.
This is what Rob Semsey (MS) said.

Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014.
The key word for me is "next". I feel it would be a mis-representation to use "next" in the context of a Halo 2 remake.
Nothing we can do but sit and hang on. Personally I'll be disappointed if the only XB1 Halo in 2014 was a H2 Anniversary remake. Been there, done that. While I'd enjoy playing it again with new graphics, I'd rather a whole new story instead.

In all honesty, I really didn't think we'd get a brand new Halo in 2014. The way 343 was dancing around the issue and not naming the game for us and the fact the XB1 just came out, just made me think it wouldn't be Halo 5.
I'm also kind of thinking Halo would have too much competition from Destiny. Now if the two games can get on an every other year release schedule, that would be good for developers and gamers alike - meaning Destiny in 2014, Halo in 2015, Destiny in 2016 and so on...
Also don't forget the Halo TV (or web?) series that is supposed to be in the works. That could also be considered our "next Halo journey".
NeoGaf was exploding with supposed leaked info last night. Everything from H1, 2 and 3 in 2014 to CBOAT and other leakers being used to out the insider.
One leaker said XB1 TITANFALL'S final textures would be 25% of the planned final build. I.E. Last week, Respawn confirmed the 25% would be 100% as planned.
it's all over the place, even Verge. Rarely do all these places publish something if they don't think it's verified.
Currently, it's the same stuff all over the place. The Verge contacted one source independantly. Nothing but rumour and the obvious, like March XB1 update, White XB1s exist.
Not one concrete news source. Not one confirmatio and some of the rumour is too stupid to care about right now.
I agree with Deep NNN. I have not seen any indication about Halo 2 Anniversary being released for this year, even the big news from 343i early this month didn't say anything about H2A.
But I would be surprised if it is releasing this year after all.
I have played 3 time a week since Halo CE was released a very long time ago. Each version had things I liked and disliked. The fact that Halo 4 is on a very old console that most players headsets are broken takes from the fun of the game. One of the things I miss the most is proximity voice. Yes I muted the 10 year old Timmies but I really miss the trash talk. For those who played H2 think back to some of the pre game and in game BS that you heard. That is the only parts that I can really remember. Bring back the trash talk!!!!

I miss that too. Most people don't even use mics anymore. When I play CoD it seems like there are more mic'ed up players. Ghost does have proximity voice maybe there is something to it.

It isn't proximity voice. You hear the voice of the person you've just killed, right as you've killed them for about two seconds.
They better have MM. If there's no MM I don't buy and I bet a lot of other people are in the same boat. I hope they don't rebuild too much. Clean up the graphics and leave the gameplay alone (warts and all).

Except, given you get what you want, who will you play with? Friends don't let friends go into MM alone. Could be a small issue.

If it has its own standalone matchmaking, I'm in. Also, we'll have zero problem filling out a party of four.
I have little doubt XB1 Halo-Next Multiplayer will pull me away from TITANFALL, for a percentage of my gameplay. I pretty much learned that from the Beta. Completely different classes of FPS. Both very enjoyable. I'll probably find time for both.
Halo-Next will have a lot of the smooth game play of the current title plus the cloud servers and more. Whoa! Cream city!
Of course there is Destiny too. I suppose I'll 'have to try it out. I don't really have time for three main titles though.

This sounds funny, but I really don't expect a lot. Maybe that's best, for me to under-expect, so they can ostensibly over-deliver.
I do think its funny that, when I hear some folks in GameStop talking about Destiny, they're all talking about character customization. I suppose if you're looking to get the pulse of the average gamer, that's all they want, so how can you miss that mark, right?

Halo 2 was originally released in 2004, so it makes sense to release anniversary in 2014. Looking foward to it, but if it doesn't have multi-player then I can just play my old copy of H2 on the 360. No point to that. I figure they decided to stagger the releases of Destiny and new Halo similar to Treyarch/Infinity Ward CoD releases every year. Gotta keep that cash flowing in. I feel like Halo 4 was just made to fill the gap between Bungie Halo and Xbone Halo. H4 released with only 10 maps and was not meant to be played for a long period of time. I can cut 343 some slack since it was only their first Halo game. I think that 343 has learned some lessons from it and I'm hopeful that Halo 5 will be better.

I'm waiting for the dust to settle.
Correction, Halo 2 rebuild, H3 and H4 ports for XB1. I am not expecting any of this this year except H2 Anniversary campaign rebuild.

Technically that would be a "beginning" to a new journey. Or if you hadn't played H2 before, same thing.
I'm sticking with what I've said and waiting.

My status, unchanged.
I kinda miss teh halo's sometimes

Proximity chat. I'd love to hear that confirmed by 343i.

basically confirms H2.
We now have to ramp up for the inevitable fight. Will there be Halo 2 MM? Should start a new topic for that, I suppose.

MS and 343i will not reveal Halo news until E3, it seems. At least we know a date for news now.
makes sense. halfway through the year, launching H2A in Nov.

I have played 142 games. lol

Halo 3 shipped with only 11 maps. Ended with 24. Halo 4 ended with 19. It wasn't that different - H3 maps were just leagues better.
