Not to drop in and start trouble, but I thought all cars in this event were to remain stock and NO TUNING was allowed? Wouldnt what you are doing considered tuning?

You thought wrong...if it's tuneable you can tune it.
It was definitely not intentional Grimm but since you dropped out (been all of one week hasn't it?) the spec cars we've run have been tuneable. Totally depends on the build.
The 1.5 hours prior to the spec races are typically*** stock cars but even those can be tuned if the stock build allows it.
That is why I wrote earlier to feel free to join us for just the spec car races if you want when they are tuneable.
*** The first 1.5 hours are pretty much open to anything and there's no reason we cannot choose to run a previously used spec car so if that previous spec car allowed tuning there's another scneario where tuning is allowed.
The build determines whether you can tune or not, nothing else.
You're welcome. Just dont beat my qualy time this evening and you and I wont have to have words tomorrow :)
p.s. I haven't tested any other track but my plan is to change the max speed back to 174 for the other tracks...if I remember - thats how you can thank me Wheels remind us to change the gear setting after London!
Spreadsheet updated with this week's cars guys. Running short on time so will update the tracks and non-spec cars tomorrow night one of which will be the Camaro we didn't run last week.
Spreadsheet updated with the tracks for this week. Also I just realized I forgot the exhaust when I rushed yesterday so the car build has been just slightly modified.
As far as non-spec cars lets just go with the Camaro SS 2010 that we didn't get to run last week and I'l probably start us off with a one make car....GoKarts anyone???
Spreadsheet has been updated with most of the February spec cars which we can declare the month of Jason as the Feb 6 - 20th cars are all his creations. This leaves the week of Jan 30 as the only open slot in the next 5 weeks should anyone wish to submit a spec car hint hint.
FYI...Around the same time Jason submitted his first car I was making an executive decision to allow any of the non-adjustable suspension upgrades to be used if that was the chosen part (i.e. you can use soft or hard suspension depending on your liking). Jason was unaware of this and was purposely trying to re-create something of a realistic car feel when he submitted the suspension settings to me. Bla bla bla, you can still pick whichever suspension you want but Jason's choice of suspension is listed below should you wish to truly drive the car as he intended (that's what I'm doing).
Lightweight Rocket 07 - Race soft This may very well be the same build that Snappy is using in an upcoming one-off if memory serves me.
Since I'm mostly talking to myself and making things up as I go along I've decided to include a second non-spec car for this week. I've reasoned that these non-spec (totally stock) cars can be purchased within 2 minutes before logging into my room on a given Thursday night so what's the big deal? Send me a PM if you disagree and I'll forward your complaint to the organizing committee for review.
In fact the only reason I'm adding this car so late is Jason was talking up how awesome it is (its the Feb 13 spec car) and when I bought it it looked fucken wicked (single seater, open cockpit) and based on the ratio between HP and PP this may very well be the best handling car I've ever driven (PP almost triple the HP)?
Therefore this week's non spec cars are...
the 2010 SS Camaro left over from last week and the Gran Turismo Red Bull 2014 Junior
On this weeks spec car I come up with pp591 hp 196. As far as I remember I havent done a oil change to it.
By golly you are correct Sir. You built it right Greg and I updated the spreadsheet. When I forgot to add the exhaust (above post) I must have also wrote down those settings based on a standard exhaust but that still doesn't excuse the troubles I've put you through and for that I offer you a heartfelt apology. It'll never happen again.
Also it's Marks fault...he pressured me into drinking to watch the football games last weekend and I was rushed to get the spec car updated (7:00 deadline) where mistakes were obviously made and also didn't let me complete Snappy's race on Sunday I was under a lot of stress at the time. I'd even go so far as to blame Mark for me taking Brnt out on lap one of Sunday's race which haunts me to this day. But it is difficult to blame everything on Mark since I did drink his beer and ate his food so he's still a good guy!
@GtDefender - sorry about last night. Seems your dinner occurred during the majority of our racing. Sometimes we make it to 10:30 but not last night unfortunately.
@Brnt - I know you've been in my room before and I know you've made it into Snappy's and Grimm's rooms but I'm wondering if you're experiencing the odd issue with connecting??? I have my room set-up with a "high" connection (bandwidth I assume) standard and I'm just wondering if you think this may be the cause of your disconnects? let me know because I can easily set this a bit lower if this is what's causing your issues.
Spreadsheet updated with this weeks spec car. We'll be using an entry level Rally car the 1999 Subaru Impreza. Totally stock but it comes with all the trimmings but you'll need to purchase dirt tires as we'll finish off the evening with an awesome dirt race.
This week's non-spec cars are listed below. I put in a solid two minutes of testing the spec car so am confident that will be a blast but cannot speak to the non-spec cars as they were chosen completely at random but I do have high hopes from both of them, we'll see.
1) on the non-spec car list there are several of my cars listed, but they are the ones i tuned for spec races so they are not meant to be in the non-spec list. i dont think any one wants to keep two versions of the same car - one that's modified for a spec race and one that is strictly stock.
2) ...and i know this is extremely nit-pickerish... but can we limit spec race cars to only those that can be painted? tonight's car is nice, but it's dull when every single car looks exactly alike, especially for five consecutive races. variety is nice!
You'll find a new tab called "Non Spec Cars" added to the spreadsheet (will keep it near the left next to the weekly spec cars). Here you will find the monthly non-spec cars. They are in no particular order as to when throughout the month we will run them so to save time please purchase these cars prior to logging on. All the cars we've used during January are listed plus cars for February, March and most of April have been assigned.
Craig submitted one car (4.5 mill so pushed that out till March), Jason submitted 6 cars and the rest are randoms that I chose.
Spreadsheet should now provide you one-stop shopping for everything needed on Thursday nights which is probably a good thing cause I dont think too many people read this thread :)
If anyone would like to submit more cars please do so and maybe I'll readjust some of them.
1) You're absolutey correct. That was a copy and paste error on my part except the Red Bull of course I have every intention on running that (stock) tonight.
2) Others may heed your advise but Parcells cannot, sorry bud.
First off, my connection sucked last night and after I got booted from the room for the 4th time, I was done. Question for the Mighty Parcells, would it be wise to go ahead and buy all the non spec cars on nights where we missed in case they may be used future non spec races?
That sucked unsub…”wise” might be slightly strong language but essentially YES it makes sense to do so. Ultimately I’m trying to increase the number of available non-spec cars that we can choose from and no reason the “January” cars can’t be re-used in February for example. The more the merrier and relevant updates to this subject are below.
Some good racing last night, that car drove awesome!!! Red Bull and the Subaru.
@Paradox – can’t remember your forum name so couldn’t send a PM. Unfortunate what happened with your lack of cars and also your friends inability to get into the room. Have no idea why he couldn’t but the only thing that seems even half reasonable is he became my friend AFTER I had already set up the room??? But that seems a stretch.
Anyway please make note of the below post and IF you and/or your buddy are unable to purchase all ten cars for the month of February just let me know which ones you both can afford for next week and I’ll make sure to use them. The Spec car is always more important than the non-spec cars and even if you do not have any of the cars I’m not going to boot anyone because of it…it would simply be your loss not driving what everyone else is.
One more crack at trying to simplify Thursday evenings for everyone. (next post offers semi-chaos)
Warning: If I make it any simpler I fear we’ll be running the same car every week or not running at all.
As previously noted we will identify ten monthly non-spec cars to be used (at random) while the spec races are not taking place. The below link takes you directly to the new “non-spec” tab where the cars for the next 2.5 months have been assigned. With the spec cars already assigned for the first 3 weeks of February you could spend ten minutes between now and Thursday and literally have every car you’ll need for almost the entire month.
Generally speaking the non-spec cars are not very expensive (Chapparel March car is certainly an exception) so I’m not really expecting funds to be an issue for anyone and if or when PD allows us to gift cars this issues becomes mostly moot. Point being, if you cannot afford ALL ten cars for the month of February please let me know what you do not have so we can avoid choosing them.
Whether the above posts simplifies things or not remains to be seen and in the light of “what ideas” anyone might have for Thursday evenings I’m wondering if there is any interests in running some practice sessions with some of the cars from other series. Right now we have a Scirocco, Megane, BMW and a Mazda Roadster series going on and while I’m hesitant to suggest we use every Thursday night for practice sessions for any of these series if the majority would like to do this from time to time we could use the non-spec racing time for such purposes.
Let me know what you think but I want to make sure if we do this it is well planned ahead as to what car and what type of testing we will partake in…we could just practice with the car over a number of tracks or run an entire full race run a combination of the two whatever we see fit. This could provide “practice time” for those of us who race on Thursday’s but are not finding enough time to practice for the more serious series where points are involved.
Parcells....Great Cars last night....Wish I could of stayed longer but my wife was yelling at me because she locked herself in the basement and I made her wait 10 minutes while I was trying to race.......That went over Big Time......Do as you wish for racing but let me know your gearing before the race....You came up on me too fast at the High Speed Ring!!!...
LOL, just a minute honey I’m in the middle of an inconsequential race here. Hope your allowed to race next week having been a very bad Wheels. I was drafting Wheels, the only change I made last night to anything was to lower my top end speed for the final dirt race.
I owe you a very small apology as you provided me some great entertainment in one of the races. May have been in the same race, I’m not sure and I also forget the track, but regardless there was one turn you passed me on the inside and did it fairly aggressive as in I’m sure my car assisted your braking efforts. By no means anything serious but later in the night(or same race?) I think it was RustyBelly we were in a very tight battle with (was lots of fun) and I just recall purposely taking away your line from you (was my right to do so mind you, I was in front of you at the time) over a few consecutive turns while in my head thinking “this is payback for the earlier pass buddy boy :)”. All in good fun. Thanks!

Sincere Apology Parcells....Seems like countless strafing by unnamed dive bombers turned me into a agressive backslider forgetting my racing ettiquette....
Parcells, can you confirm the VW for Feb. You have it listed as "Volkswagon Golf V1R-1 - 00" however I dont see that. I see a "Volkswagon Golf V1 R '10" but not sure if thats the same one. Please confirm. Thanks
If you're only seeing ONE Volkswagon Golf V1 R then surely it must be the 2010 version and once again I failed to read my own scribbles/writing. I'm just going to update the spreadsheet as this is most likely another typo. Thanks.
Has any one actually driven this week's car, the Light? The stock version is easy to drive, but my Spec Car version handles like a pissed off bull (it kind of looks like one, too!) It has enough torque to spin the tires well past second gear so it really jumps out of corners, but the brakes are stock so they are extremely sluggish, which means you really have to throw it hard going into the corners. I set this car up for nostalgia because it reminds me of an F1 car from the mid-60's, but if it's too difficult to the point where it wont be enjoyable then we can skip it.
Not to drop in and start trouble, but I thought all cars in this event were to remain stock and NO TUNING was allowed? Wouldnt what you are doing considered tuning?
