New Console Deaths

Anyone else had their new console die yet or am I the first?

My xbox ONE is looking like it needs to go in for repairs already, wtf !  Problems started Tuesday with HDMI in not working properly and I noticed the notifications button wouldn't do anything when selecting it but otherwise it worked ok.

Then wednesday ONE wouldn't boot, it got stuck on the black/white logo screen pre-dash (just after it auto-signs you in).  So i disconnected Kinect and i can get to the dash.  When i manually sign in though, i get the spinning disc and then when the dash loads, it's frozen.  My only option from there is to turn the sytsem off.

I tried removing my profile and that didn't work, just got a spinning disc, left it overnight and still spinning disc int he morning.  Rebooted, profile still there.  Also noticed the time is now resetting to 3/25/13 on hard reboots, the on-screen keyboard will no longer come up in text boxes .  So like i unjoined wifi to test signing in and when i go to put the wifi password in, the OSK won't come up.  So then i thought, ok i'll do the factory reset so i go to settings, advance, A on factory reset and the button doesn't do anything.  It doesn't acknowledge me Aing on it at all.

Thing is fucked.

That sucks. Is it a Day 1 or normal Xbone?

Console has not died, but had a problem with Ghosts.  Put in disk, replied yes to upgrade (35.2 or so gb) and let it alone until it finished.  Started game and after first Ghost screen, monitor went black screen and stayed there.  Contacted support and was told to recycle power (unplug and plug back in) to clear content cache (apparently corrupted).  That did the trick.  Also found out that to uninstall a game or app, go to My Game and Apps, go to one you want gone, hit menu button, and uninstall should be one of the options.  Good thing to know if you have to free up space.  Only other problem I have had with it is when I say "XBOX Listen"  it goes to TV setup (which I am not using) and I have to say "XBOX Go Home" to get where I wanted to be in the first place!!   Btw this is not a day one edition.

Mine was bought on day 1 but it's not a day 1 edition  (green box version instead of black box version).

I think there's some kind of software bug in it given the complexity of the three OSs interacting with each other, something's gone fubar.

I know of one other person that had to replace their XB1. He got the "green screen of death".

Sent back my Day 1 controller on 12/6 as it was coming apart on the left side.  Frustrating, but not a game breaker as I like having an extra controller. But the Day One power supply went tits up around Xmas so I sent it back to Amazon for a refund.  It took just over 4 weeks to get the controller back and I didn't want to wait the same amount for a power supply.  Who knows, it could have been more than just the power brick but there would have been no way to tell for a month.

My new box tends to hang when checking messages or viewing my friends list, and yesterday it rebooted on it's own and took about 5 minutes to start up.  I am considering taking it back to Best Buy just before 30 days are up to get a new one.

My day one controller is getting creaky on the left side when I squeeze it - it gives.  Apparently this is a huge problem for these.

I called the support line Friday night and the guy on the phone was pretty baffled at what my Xbone is doing.  there's no current documented cases so they don't know what to try so I have to send it in.  I opted to have them send me one first, will get it in a week vs sending mine first which would take almost 3 weeks (coffin travel to me, coffin travel back, replacement travel back to me).

Hopefully this one goes to their lab to be studied because it's totally fubar.  Something's gotten corrupted inside of it whether it's the hdd or memory, possibly that 'middle os' between xboxOS and Windows8.

I'm guessing it would have taken more than 3 weeks.  My controller return took 29 days.

My controller does that as well. I believe mine is doing it on the right side though.

Ya my controller is also getting loose on the right side, it's a launch day green box edition.  It's not bad enough to send it in though, didn't know this was an issue or i would have requested a new controller with my replacement system.  doh..

My XB1 broke on New Year's Day. Wouldn't turn on using the controller, and when you tried to turn it on via the front touch panel, the white indicator would light up, it would play 3 chimes, then shut down. I had them send me a new one via Advance Exchange and I'm back up and running.

Interesting...i haven't had a single prob with mine & neither have any of my friends who got one. But at least the x1 has a better breakdown rate than the ps4 did...sony had to shut down production it was so bad.

I'd read a story that in protest for working conditions chinese factory workers sabotaged the HDMI ports on some PS4s.  If you google it, you should be able to find it.  Never really dug into it though to find confirming sources.

Pretty sure it turned out bogus. There was hdmi issues generally from the supplied hdmi cable.

I'm planning on getting a One eventually I think - and I was going to offer up that my PS4 had no problems...but I thought that might be rude. I see I'd have been too late to THAT party anyway. LOL

I don't really get all the "vs" stuff anyway. Of course, I'm 44. Got bigger things to worry about than which pissing contest to get involved with over video games I guess.

Hope you get it resolved soon and they get you another box.
