Help Choosing TV

I'm having trouble sorting through specs to pick a new TV(LED).  I currently use plasma but they are 720p and I want to add a 1080p for the new game consoles and other 1080 content.  Doubt I'll go with another plasma but ya never know.  Not sure why I didn't buy a 1080p plasma last go 'round.  Anyways, I decided that the best advice is others speaking for a TV they own, use often, and like.  So, if you like your 1080p picture and performance and feel it does well to minimize motion blur and judder, make and model would be appreciated.  The current 50" plasma fits nicely on the stand I have so i probably will stick with a 50" if that even matters.

I've considered a Vizio 120hz E601i-A3 , LG Truemotion 120hz, and a Hisense 120hz(best picture, even better then pricey samsung but I think it has some blur and judder issues).  All manufactures are fair game.

Consumer Reports always does a big write-up on TVs. You can check out some of the info here: TV Stuff

This might be helpful.

There are so many choices and so many opinions. The thing I love about my plasma TV is that you don't have to worry about motion blur or viewing angle - which are two concerns for LCD. However, the faster refresh rate LCDs are fine for gaming.

Good luck.

I have a Samsung plasma and haven't had any problems. It's been a few years now.

I was at a buddies house the other weekend and he had a lcd, i assume it was 120hz and the picture just didn't didn't look right to me. He must have had some setting on because everything looked kinda 3d. I should have asked what he had so I would never buy a set like that.

I would say it was certainly the settings. Often times the "out-of-the-box" settings can give you a picture that is optimized for view in a store, but not the best for home.

he probably had it on a Motionflow type mode (aka "soap opera mode").  It smoothes out and adds extra frames and looks awful.

Looks like i'll be staying plasma.  Someone here reminded me that power consumption is pretty much a non issue.  LG and Samsung 50" class at best buy for $600 and $650

I picked up this TV  http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/PN51F5300AFXZA.  Nice picture.  The upscale to 1080p for Ghosts and Titanfall on the Xbone is a slight improvement over my native 720p.

The vizio screens are very good and have a lot of bang for the buck.

The E series are their more budget focused models, available up to 80 inches I think.  I've got the 60" model, it's 120hz refresh has all the popular streaming apps built in, wifi connectivity and lots of HDMI ports.  I"m pretty happy with my purchase, picked it up on black friday for 670 bucks or something around there.

Their M series are the high end, they have more of the lastest and greatest tech.  3D is available, 240hz refresh rate, more technology into color reproduction plus all the streaming/wifi stuff as well.  I have a friend who has the M seris 60" vizio and he's very happy with his purchase as well.

So either way, i dont' think you can go wrong with a Vizio, it's hard to match the features for the money you get with them.  Both sets are very thin and light, easy to mount up on a wall.  I wall mounted my 60" alone without too much struggle.
