My point to this involves the P1 and 918.

That's not a question.

What do you prefer. If you had to pick one.

Ferrari, because it's more pleasing to the eye, why? Did you hit THE jackpot?

I may be exposing my ignorance but I did a quick search and shouldn't it be between the F-40 and the 959 (not 958).  blush

From an anal speller.

Yeah the 958 is a Cayenne. So 959 it is. Anyway I was talking to a chap yesterday about what car is better. The P1 or 918. I think the 918 won't have anything in the P1 in 20 years time as the P1 is a lot like the F40 and 918 is a lot like the 959.

My head was spinning after reading the above post.  So I took a deep breath and did some goggling and have sorted all those numbers out.  My simple mind takes a while to catch up with you guys.

I thought the 959 was pretty slick, unless I'm getting mixed up on my porsches..although the P-1 is arguably better.

As in the 959 and 918 was and are massive technical achievements we the direct counterparts (f40 and P1) are be where near as technical but have brute force and awesomeness about them.

Yeah I suppose. Its funny how they don't get the attention like LaFerrari, P1 or 918.

I wonder what kind of lap the One:1 would do round the ring?

The F-40 looks better, is more powerful, and has a bigger cup holder. I choose you, Ferrari!

If they get the GPS/variable suspension tuned for it, look out! But I think that's a lot to pull off, so many turns, would take a huge amount of time and testing.

What's that top Porsche currently considered production? Is it the 918?

Money and PR firms...That's why Hennessey keeps chipping away at the speed record, even without the VW track, which they know they'll never get an invite to, the PR sells cars and starts people talking. Sooner or later, everyone's gonna get tired of VW having the only place to run these kind of cars, and something will be built. All you need is a 4 mile straight somewhere, no?

Rest assured, if they do find a place to do it, Bugatti won't have a leg, err tire to stand on. Too many gunning for it and it's too damn heavy.

I'd settled for the quicker acceleration vs the ultimate top end anyway, because....(wait for it)....where are you gonna hit it anyway? All of this is reinforcing the fact you can't make use of it anyway. Truth told, pure fun factor, I'd rather have a Caterham or a Ariel Atom. there are places you can take them and rip it up all out. And they're fast. And if you're talking old stuff, give me the F-40 or the 427 Cobra, I'd prefer the Cobra (Convertibles/open tops always rule). Nothing to do with performance, everything to do with smiles per mile.

Steven Tyler's got a Venom, one of the first I think? Where are you gonna drive it, around L.A.?

Tyler has the world's only convertible Venom and you can bet your ass he is driving it around LA.

Convertibles get a pass, don't care what they are. Even so, why drive a 1000hp+ anything around L.A.? Easy answer here is it's a convertible, ergo, to be seen. But really, how about the L.A. freeway? Oh Hell No!

Porsches and BMW's speak a language not easily penetrated by the casual observer. Makes you wonder why or what they're hiding...or they're just snobs....laugh

And yet Ferrari seems so easy and it's really all about the same. Weirdness.

I'd take the F40.  I'd take the 918 over the P1 though.  Shouldn't it be F1 GT or 959?

The Meclaren F1 wasn't out until 1992. The 959 was built from 1986 - 1989. The F40 was 1987 - 1992. I know porsche make some awesome cars but I don't think they stand the test of time. The 959 looks dated we as the F40 looks Fucking A

I think the same will be with the P1 and 918. In 20 years people will look at the 918 and say Yeah it was an important super car that showed how to make a eco super car. But the want for a P1 will be much
