Oops, sorry for the duplicate thread Grim.  I was so excited to post about multi-monitor support that I missed your thread.

This will allow me to enjoy GT6 on my triple screen set up.  I did GT5 on triple screens and it really does elevate the game to a whole different level.  I was beginning to lose faith that this feature would come, and thus I have not fired up GT6 for over a week.

Using multi-monitor should have no effect on my login bonus.  The main PS3 acts as the server and is the one that I will "play."  The other two PS3s act as the clients, and although they do apparently connect each time I fire them up, they have no effect on the server PS3.

Ah, that is true, my bonus likely is down to 110%.  I should be able to build that back up starting tonight.

Found the below undocumented updates at GT Planet...

  • Special Color M4 in the BMW dealership (Frozen Black Metallic) EDIT: BMW M4 Coupé Frozen Black Metallic coloured model has been removed with Ninja update.
  • When watching replays of online races, or when watching live online races names can be removed above cars online and off. If you turn off names for spectating, they will remain off while racing. This feature does not carry over from lobby to lobby, it must be reset for each lobby entered.
  • In the Car Settings menu, to the right of Tuning Sheet C, there is a button for a regulations check for your individual car.
  • Tune sheets can be copied to one another but no reset button for settings yet
  • Whoever sets the fastest lap in practice session online will show up in the chat log with the time being Purple
  • In online lobbies, when exiting the room settings menu using the O button, if no changes have been made, then you are taken straight back to the lobby, instead of having to confirm that you want to make no changes etc.
  • Possible further refinement to motion blur, the warped screen edge is reduced.
  • Formula GT's cockpit view has HUD speedometer and rev dials, the one from the 'Normal View'
  • In Race Photo Mode: No changes to your settings of F-number and Exposure when you were in the Camera Menu.
  • Qualifying time minimum now 5 minutes
  • Some standards may have been improved. Possible list HERE
  • Fixed the split time bug when in practice mode online. However now you can only see your best time in the top right hand corner and not that of the entire lobby however the split times are still against the best lap in the room. Also your times get erased completely each time you exit the track and the split times will change to being set against the best lap from those still on the track.
  • Bumper cam style gauges with interior view on simplified interior cars instead of chase cam style gauges
  • Seems that the "possibility of change wheather" (the one with 0-60 values) now effects the humidity of the track instead of changes of the wheather...
With 80% humidity at start and 0% wheather and possibility of change at 50, the track surface reaches from 80% to 0% in about... 10 seconds...
  • Top speed no longer artificially limited offroad, but TC remains in effect
  • If you hold the "X" button while hovering over an open lobby, it reveals the individual room regulations.
  • Problem with High RPM Turbo on HSV '10 Anniversary Edition documented HERE seems to be fixed
  • In Photomode, entering the Camera Menu no longer resets the EV setting to zero.
  • Changes to Photomode HERE and HERE and HERE
  • If you set car restrictions to be filtered by Make but then just select a country you can leave it at that. Cars can then be chosen from any of that country's makes.
  • Online Automatic race start time is now "about XX:XX" instead of "at XX:XX"
  • When you enter a race, the blue button now says "Sign-Up."
  • Custom soundtracks feature has been fixed. As before it would rarely play my own custom soundtrack and instead play GT6's soundtrack. It now plays mine from when I start playing GT6 (in the menus and on track).

Well this update bites especially the bolded part...Practise mode was great for testing changes to the car, and the sector times really helped, now they'll be gone shitty!

Although a bit dissapointed with the update (lack of communitee updates and the new track), the above will make things a bit easier and glad to see it.

Multi-monitor support was the feature I wanted the most and it is now in the game.  As far as I am concerned, if the only updates were additional seasonal events for the next 3 or more years, until the release of GT7, I would be more than satisfied.

I installed the update last night on my three PS3s and tested multi-monitor support with GT6.  It was quite easy to set up, since the interface is very similar to GT5.  I had written down my GT5 triple screen settings in early December, in anticipation of GT6, and so I just entered those variables and away I went.  I tried the triple screens on both Brands Hatch and Willow Springs and they look fantastic.  Triple screens really make GT a whole different game, since you get so much more immersion.  This is precisely why many folks say that once you go triple screens you can never go back to a single screen.    One of the many advantages is that you can see the apex of the turn more easily, particularly for tight turns that require more braking and/or downshifting.  I found that I had a much easier time learn the alternative layout for Willow Springs that is part of the seasonal event that is available until tomorrow.

This is the set up I use for GT6 and previously used for GT5.  There is another option, however.  You can buy a disk or electronic copy for one PS3 and then buy a second electronic copy that you can use on two of the PS3s.  That will save you the cost of a third copy of the game.  I personally have not tried it, but there is discussion about doing it over at gtplanet in this thread:

I won't even consider three screens until they go one disc. Not buying three machines, three screens AND three games. PC's got that beat three ways to Sunday. One PC, one game, three screens.

I don't see that happening anytime soon, since the GPUs in the Xbox One and PS4 may not be powerful enough to properly power triple screens.  It certainly will not happen for PS3 or Xbox 360 games.

The cost was transparent for me because in 2012 I funded the purchase of the additional PS3s with trade-in credit for games and systems I was not using.

Thanks Greg.  I have my border % set to 10%, which is what I had in GT5 for my triples.  It seems to work well.  I am not noticing any issues with the lines on the side of the track between screens.  My monitors have big bezels (they are monitors from 2008, LOL!), but I am so used to them now that I do not notice them.

Wouldn't you think that Developers and Creators of Consoles would generate the software and hardware to give the ONE console and ONE Disc the ability to run 3 screens as a option???yeslaugh....Sure would be nice for us bumper view drivers to see the sides of us and let us know exactly where other cars..The 3 consoles and discs are ridiculous but the results seem to be fantastic...As of now you only know that someone is somewhere on your side (Bumper View) but you have no idea where.surprise

Even with good communication on the track, there is a slight delay and it can cause issues. I'm sure a higher end unit would sell in limited quantities, unless they're "wanting" to sell the extra two units/games...devil

As usual, the PC is well ahead of the consoles, at least in this area.  As a triple screen enthusiast, I can tell you that more and more PC games are making proper use of triple screens.  Believe it or not, this is an area where EA has been leading the pack.  Going back to Shift 2, which is triple screen compatible out of the box, through Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 and most recently Titanfall, EA has been making sure that most if not all of its PC games work well on triple screens.  The problem, as kurupt describes, is that the consoles lack the power to run triple screens.  The GPU in the Xbox One and PS4 is just not powerful enough to run triple screens with adequate settings.  Moreover, there is just not enough demand, since the vast majority of console users would never use triple screen compatibility, even if it was there, just as the majority of PC gamers play on a single screen.

As far as field of view, kurupt is correct, the side screens do not allow you to see whatever is beside you.  You still have to make good use of your rear view mirror as well as your side mirrors.  That being said, the side screens do give you some visibility of cars beside you, particularly if they are at your door, and you get a nice view of the upcoming turn.  I already feel like I am hitting my apexes better in GT6 since I fired up my triple screens on Monday night.  It is all about immersion.

For what its worth, If I had to decide where to drop $500-$1000 for my console sim racing, and assuming I was not interested in PC sim racing, I would choose an Xbox One, Forza 5 and a TX wheel and pedal set over extra monitors, PS3s and copies of GT6.

If next gen consoles were capable of triple screen compatibility your $400 console would become $1200+ good luck trying to sell millions of those :)

more heat, noise, power, bigger sized console for a small niche market would equal one big fail in the sales category.

if your running a proper fov it's still difficult to see what's beside you unless your driving from the backseat which is just odd, your more or less just expanding your front windscreen, dash and a bit more view out the drivers side.  Triple screens isn't the instint cure to crash free racing either. 95% of the issue is the driver making bad decisions and the lack of knowing where your own car is on the track and how to control it, the other 5% is how good your internet connection is.

maybe one day, but not until gpu's drop drastically in price or the majority of console buyers are willing to open up there wallets
