Titanfall getting great reviews
Joystiq: 4.5/5 stars http://www.joystiq.com/2014/03/10/titanfall-review/
Polygon: 9 http://www.polygon.com/2014/3/10/5467906/titanfall-review
EGM: 100 http://www.egmnow.com/articles/reviews/egm-review-titanfall/
http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-one/titanfall (87 average)
I read the IGN review a half hour ago and while they talked about the virtues and generally were positives, they did point out some of the early flaws, probably the biggest being no custom game availability yet.

Ya no private match capabilities and mostly generic tried and true game modes see to be the biggest complaints.
Private matches are confirmed for post release. No date yet.
So now that people have had a day with it what are your thoughts? If you have an X1 is this the title that you must have or what? I have yet to grab it and am just looking for peoples general impressions.
I spotted this title in the E3 news last year and thought it was a must have for a lover of the FPS genre. I was correct for me and I do not doubt most FPS lovers will enjoy it. It's not a precision shooter in the same vein as Halo, so there is that to consider.
I think TitanFall has refreshed the FPs genre up a bit; but it certainly hasn't re-defined it, what I mean by that statement is the game has taking elements from other games, and has managed to merge perfectly.
There have been other shooters over the years, and even a lot of mech combat games, but TitanFall just somehow makes it flow evenly, and if somebody is new to shooters, this game makes it possible to jump in and enjoy themselves as well.
I have it on the X1 and I can't put it down. I'm not that great at FPS on the xbox and I am holding my own in this game. Of course there are those matches where we just get raped, but overall I'm having a blast.
Are there any different modes?Seems to me from what i've seen, that it would get boring after a while.
.
Yea there are the standard team vs team, capture the flag, control point, last titan standing and I think one or two more. I have pretty much been playing Attrition which is Team Vs. Team. Some rounds my team rocks other rounds its like we didn't even show up. All in all though each round is just pure choas all over especially when titans start dropping in.
I'm enjoying this game a lot. It clearly isn't a competitive shooter (yet). I think its also fair to ask if its this year's Halo 4: will it wither up and die within 6 months? Personally, I don't think so.
It's a great alternate game to play. It may be even more attractive once Private matches are added.
I like the game, it's very fun. I just feel it isn't a $60 game.....especially if you went the digital route
Fun game. I am not sorry I bought it. Plays well, all the stuff seems to work. No story mode and no private games is my only beef with titanfall. Overall.....two thumbs up.....or is it. 6 out of four stars?
I'm glad there is no single player. I can do without "go here, take out waves of enemies", crappy story cut scene, repeat.
For me, the story fleshes out the world the developers created. Without it I don't know my motivation.....why we are, who we are, how did we get here, etc.
When you think about it though, the difference between TITANFALL and Halo multiplayer is nil. You fight because of the play style and not which side you are on. No side to care about except your team's score.
Halo has Red vs Blue but COD does not. Both styles have found varying degrees of success.
I'd like to try out a game with greater differences in multiplayer factions. Maybe Destiny will deliver that.
Destiny will absolutely offer what you're looking for, it seems to have multiple warring factions to pick from.
