Last night sucked

God I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night.  Was getting killed left and right.  Then I die multiple times to someone jumping on my titan.  I go to dismount, which is slower than two 90 yr olds crossing a street, only to have the guy leap off my titan and throw a satchel charge and kill me.   So basically no way to defend against unless you equip smoke on each titan.

My son was commenting on the sachel charge attack when dismounting. Must be gaining popularity. I haven't used the sachel yet. Gotta get my learn on.

I've run into this too!  Personally, I thought it was pretty clever and wanted to try it.  If I don't have smoke equipped I try to stick close to other titans, and try to get someone else to notice you're being rodeo-ed (I guess this is a word now?).  If you're the only titan, maybe try staying away from buildings or high outcroppings that pilots can use to boost onto you.  Other than that, yes this does suck.

Would be nice if the person rodeoing the titan took as long to dismount as the pilot getting out, or make it where the pilot gets out quicker.   As it is right now as soon as the person sees the titan bend down they can either satchel the titan or even get off and wait for you to get out and then shoot you.  Either way I think it needs to be tweaked a bit.  Some maps its impossible to stay away from buildings.

Cluster Missile works similar to the Lightning Cloud for getting a pilot off your back, just shoot either a wall directly in front of you or the ground at your feet.

I just had an idea.

Could you stick satchel charges to your own titan?  Then as you're walking around, if an enemy pilot starts to rodeo, just hit X to start the disembarking animation, then quickly double-tap X to detonate your satchel charge.  Rodeo problem solved!  I'd love to see the "WTF?" look on the other guy's face when he sees the satchel charge kill.

Even better, if you had Dead Man's Trigger, then even if the enemy pilot kills you as you disembark, your satchel charge will STILL go off.  Can't wait to try this.

Interesting idea JZA, I'll have to try it. Is your gamertag listed in the friends thread?

Yeah, my gamertag is actually insurgentt.  I think I might've spoken to you briefly on party chat the other night with pyro13g.  I think I might've added you then but I may not have been sober enough to remember.

I do that with with the satchel charges. (explosive perk gives you an extra charge) I hop up on the titan, throw my satchels down. I wait until the pilot disembarks and then I jump off and detonate. It'll kill the pilot and if the titan is damaged enough, blow it up too. If they pop smoke, I jump off immidiately and detonate. If they kill me before I detonate I still win.... dead man's trigger :)

Also, a quicker way to get out of the titan is to eject. Pressing up on the d-pad brings up the eject option (hitting X repeatedly)

Didn't know about pressing down on the d-pad.  I thought eject was only available when the titan was about to blow.  Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry, my mistake. I meant up on the d-pad. Down is for the core ability. And I just remembered that when you eject, the titan blows up..... so while it may be good for getting out fast and for dealing with those rodeo pilots, it's not that good if you want to get back in laugh

Gotta have other titan bros watch your back.  A melee will get the pesky Pilot off you.

http://youtu.be/6YoF-0XL2Fw?t=2m16s The third tip about rodeoing pilots; backing into a wall, looking up, and popping smoke I call the "Dutch Oven". ;)

Ha! I have my own "Dutch Oven" move too.  Whenever I see an enemy titan just sitting there inside its sheild bubble, I dash in, pop the smoke, and dash out. Not only does it damage the titan, but it makes it real tough for the enemy pilot to get in

LOL I've been doing the same thing, or if I'm close enough to losing the titan just rush in, eject, KAPOW!!!
