3/21/2014 Server Changelog

Balancing adjustments and general changes

  • - The damage indicator from Electric Smoke is now much more noticeable
  • - Search Drones will now show up in Classic Modes of Angel City
  • - Arc grenade/mine effects no longer draw on friendly Pilots and Titans
  • - Lowered the point value of defensive actions in Hardpoint mode and CTF.
  • - Increased the score limit in Attrition
  • - Flag Return points reduced
  • - Flag Carrier killed points reduced
  • - Explosives detonated by Dead Man's Trigger are now slightly delayed
  • - Explosives detonated by Dead Man's Trigger now play a warning sound before exploding
  • - Slightly decreased the damage of the Smart Pistol when not locked onto a Pilot
  • - Slightly decreased the hip-fire accuracy of the Smart Pistol
  • - Certain Burn Cards could be exploited to give multiple uses
  • - Evac Dropships are now more responsive to Pilots entering them
  • - Hacking a Mega Turret will now restore it's health to full
  • - Cluster Missiles damage reduced against Evac Dropships


Bug Fixes

  • - Titan could become stuck in the position he lands in
  • - Auto-Titan wouldn't stand up until you embarked into it
  • - Several rare server issues restarting the game in to the lobby
  • - Pilot could end up out of bounds while rodeoing a Titan as it is destroyed
  • - Pilot could warp through certain locations when jumping off a Titan
  • - Rodeoing a Titan that has been doomed by your SMR could kill you
  • - Players being able to enter some geometry in Smuggler's Cove
  • - Titanfall will now give proper kill credit when it kills a Pilot embarking into their Titan
  • - Minions in Attrition now continue to spawn until the Epilogue begins
  • - Player couldn't hack a Mega Turret console
  • - Server would sometimes error when leeching a Spectre
  • - Hardpoints sometimes awarded defense score to players not near the hardpoint
  • - Rare issue when ejecting from a Titan
  • - Server would sometimes error after a match while returning to the lobby
  • - Double XP burn card sometimes not being applied properly

Not a bad start to addressing some of the issues, that the gaming community have expressed; but I still would like to see a few others instituted into the game, such as:

1) The one hit kills while kicking, I mean I shoot a guy multiple times, but he can kill me with a foot kick, that needs to be adjusted.

2) Still need to adjust the A.I of grunts and Spectres

Certainly noticed the hardpoint hold XP change.  So much for grinding out levels on defense.

A kick should knock him down, then add finishing moves for the second melee while down.  Ice Pick to the brain sounds good.

Well as much as I enjoy the game I might shelf it for a while til they sort out this match making crap.  Was on a team that I was the only one in regen 2, everyone else was on first regen.  The entire other team was regen 3 to 7.  We didn't even get a chance to call a damn titan in.   Complete bullshit the way the matchmaking is right now.  I have seen games where a level 1 is put in agains everyone that is 50 and higher.  

I guess maybe the matchmaking programer was off on the day he was suppose to upload his part to the game.

I just read these new updates have been going out steadily and are not on all servers yet.

Doesn't mean it will fix your problem. The first month of any new shooter has MM issues. Massive numbers of new people starting every day.

A lot of those higher regens aren't any better than someone that has had some time to get comfortable with the game.  I've played with a lot of 5-7's that totally suck at winning.

This. There really is no difference, other than individual skill, between a generation 1 level 50 and a generation 7 level 50. Higher generation does not automatically equal better

agreed.  even in games that try to match same skill players together,  a persons "skill" is not represented by a mark by there gamertag, it is seen in their gameplay.

I agree that the match making needs to be balanced out as well; absolutely was blown away when we looked at the other team, and everyone is saying "Holy shit is that guy at Regen level 8 already???"

But I think with the guys I played the game with the last couple nights, we've done okay; I've noticed that a few people from the opposing side were using nothing but Smart Pistols; sorry but I like somewhat of a challenge, plus I have a few new weapons that I need to get achievements in, so I'm always switching things up.

Do private games usually have skill based match making?  No matter how many regenerations end up next to my name, I won't be any better then I am now at regeneration 2 level 50.

Don't forget that if you go in with a large party the game isn't going to try and build you a custom opposing team of similar skill.  You'd be waiting forever to find a match and complaints all over about not being able to get in a game.  Same goes if you're lone wolfing it and end up on a team with a large party.  I was on a team with all regen ones except me and some pretty low level ones.  Our team kicked ass, rolling over the opponents match after match.

If there are a lot of parties playing, skill based match making isn't going to work so well.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but to the best of my recollection MW 1 & 2 [b][u]NEVER[/b][/u] had skill based MM like Halo always has. I would not expect to see a skill based MM system implemented for Titanfall either. I recall TrueSkill for the 360, but I'm not up to date on the Xbone features.

My 2 cents.

Skill is meaningless. As said before, the levels indicate time played.

The winners are the team that tighten their ranks with three or more Titans - well on PC that has been my experience without exception.

Map knowledge is the only advantage that players with more time invested wouyld have, and even that seems pretty pointless because unless you camp with a cloak and smart pistol, all the players are everywhere  - its LOne Wolf city until you have a nice big Titan to drive 'round in with your team mates laugh

Would be nice though if the room would atleast scramble the teams when the score is so one sided.  I understand keeping parties together but in rooms where there are no parties you can get stuck where a team looses so bad everyone leaves.

I don't want to be scrambled off my winning team of randoms.  I want to keep trouncing the other team in hardpoint. I want them to have nightmares of the beatings.    I'll bounce if the lobby I'm in starts to get sketchy for any reason.  I really want them to fix this regeneration challenge crap.  It's contributing heavily to crappy games IMHO.  Ghosts DLC comes out next week and I look forward to taking some Titanfall breaks to check out the DLC.

The challenges promote diversity in the weapons you use. If not for them, then every player in every game would be using Carbines and 40mm cannons.
