Pikes Peak race - ruined for spectators
http://gazette.com/article/1518883
I sure am glad I went last year. Now they're going to force spectators (20k people last year, I believe) into one of only six areas. Spectating rally racing has always been dangerous, people half standing/leaning out into the road is normal and we understand the risks. Why ruin it? So now you have to pay $50 to stare at the back of someones head and just listen to the cars go by? Ugh.
Unfortunately this race takes place in the land of the free and the home of the lawsuit.
Well,if it's so bad, the wallets will vote so...
A lot of people are voicing their disapproval. However, they're limiting the tickets this year to 4,000 so the money is obviously coming from somewhere else if they're willing to sell less than half the tickets.
That's not good.
Yeah. Oh well. Redbull has a helicopter with a camera that they live stream to the internet with and most of the drivers upload a gopro type video after the race. Like Sebastiens world record last year.
