The far majority of the time you succeed in racing clean Jimmie, I wouldn’t worry about it too much or at all just keep up the good racing and we’ll continue having awesome battles on Thursday’s! Overall Parcells finds the Thursday night racing very clean and quite enjoyable, not too often someone dive bombs into a turn or resorts to off track in order to pass – usually not a good idea in GT6. This is why Parcells hopes the regulars we have these days continue racing on Thursday’s, I look forward to every week!

Spec sheet updated with this week’s car (yes slightly late, I just forgot to update last night). We’re going back to another Parcells favorite, the Opel Speedster Turbo but this time with numerous upgrades to give this bad boy some juice. Have a look at the sheet but you upgrade almost everything except turbo and weight reduction but PAY ATTENTION to the transmission (5-speed) as it is not fully adjustable…This is the best way to keep everyone’s tune competitive while still allowing suspension etc. to suit driver style.

Yesterday I spent a half hour at Motegi but didn’t change any of the tune beyond standard brake balance. If I make any tuning changes I will share with everyone but don’t hold your breath.

This week I want to do at least one endurance race and maybe more depending on the feedback I get over the next 48 hours. As such I have only updated one track (Motegi Full) which we are definitely doing an enduro on and I’ll determine the number of laps tomorrow or Wednesday evening. Will make it long enough to basically force everyone into at least one pit stop, tire/fuel wear on very fast. Will update the balance of the tracks after I receive feedback on your desire for additional enduro races.

So, please post your preferences on running 1, 2 or even 3 enduro races this week and I’ll make a call and update the tracks accordingly. If you want more enduros and have specific tracks in mind please share them too. The first 1.5 hours will remain typical non-spec cars.

Non-spec cars for this week include…

Nissan GT-R N24 GT Academy – 12

Holden Commodore SS -04

Not even sure if I believed I would actually practice and in the end I did not so will be winging it tonight as far as tunes go or in other words whatever the default tune is.

Received feedback from 2 people and both voted for one endurance race only so that is what we are doing…20 laps of Motegi to end the night off. Other tracks have been updated.

See you tonight. Be there or be square.

If you guys want to ever try the Opel again, here's a setup you can try. This car is extremely twitchy right out of the dealership, but it actually tuned better than just about any car I've ever tuned on my own. Once you apply this tune the car will glide through the corners and is easy to control with the throttle.

RH:  104 / 104

SR: 7.50 / 10.41

Comp: 6 / 6

AR: 4 / 2

Camber: 0 / 0

Toe: -0.06 / 0.42

Brakes: 6 / 4

Diff: 19 / 42 / 23.

Thats the way to run away Parcells or was it just sneak off into the night like a thief.  You owe those that stayed at least an 30 minutes of our lives back, I do give you credit for 10 minutes that you stayed wink  cheeky

It really wasn't that bad. It felt a lot like the 370Z for the Academy, lots of throttle control.

Whatever makes you guys feel better about yourselves LOL. Surely wasn’t my finest hour (or night of racing for that matter, struggled just a tad last evening frown) but I was secretly laughing having scheduled a semi-enduro race with a car that most disliked and then bolting…surely you can appreciate the irony of it all?

Best I can do to make it up to anyone is schedule another smooth handling race or touring car for next week but unfortunately you’ll never get those 30 minutes of your life back.

You’re welcome,

Parcells

Will update the spreadsheet with PP/HP and tracks tomorrow night but this week we're going with the Honda CRZ Touring car (totally stock and no tuning) as the spec car and the Nissan GT-R N24 GT Academy – 12 as the non-spec car.

Too much effort required to turn on the PS3 so not sure of the PP/HP ratings but whatever they come out of the Dealership, that's what we're going with. Tracks have been updated (SS RT-5, Trial Mount, Mot-East, Rome, Autumn Ring).

Can someone please try the spreadsheet link below and let me know if it works or not? Today Google Docs forced me to create an account to prevent losing the spreadsheet to my trash bla bla bla and now I have to sign-in to view (maybe "update" for me who knows) the doc so wondering if it works for you???

Great Racing last night Parcells...Little Rough (Apologies for any Bumps) in the early going since I was a little rusty on hand to hand combat racing (Close Proximity)...Started to get a lot better in later races..No matter what order you finish close racing is the best....Plus a lot of laughs....Will be better next week!yeslaugh

P.(arcell)S...Could you please clarify what or anything that can be done to the so called non-tuning cars. Non-tuning to me means "Don't Touch the Car"..Tires may be optional or voted upon. But it seems that certain unspoken types of tuning can be done. That unspoken or maybe I should say "I didn't know that can be done" type of tweaking must have some type of advantage (Personal Taste?) or why would it be done.wink

I'm not 100% sure Wheels but for all non-spec car races (and many spec car races too like last night) I set the lobby option to "tuning prohibited" which for the most part means you cannot alter the build of the car nor can you tune any setting except for your brake balance. I think you can also adjust the weight distribution but this would only be when you have a weight ballast added which we never do so that is moot leaving us with brake balance the only adjustable part...that I'm aware of. This is a game setting and its always been that way, you likely just didn't know which could have been part of my master strategy to keep Wheels in the dark all this time???

We've been using a lot of stock built spec cars of late and generally speaking I've been leaving the "tuning prohibited" option ON even though most of the touring or race cars we've been using come with adjustable parts that you can tune. I've done this to keep things simple as the mass majority of us are not tuners yet you've always been able to adjust brake balance. Traditionally (back in GT5) the spec cars are purpose built with extra parts added in which case I cannot use the tuning prohibited option else the car wont be allowed on the track. For these types of cars tuning is allowed on anything that you can tune and if you do tune them please share with the rest of us.

Clear as mud?

In case you didnt know, you can also adjust the power limiter down with the Tuning Prohibited options set to yes.

I was aware of that but that raises a good point...tuning prohibited does not prevent you from doing an oil change to increase your HP and PP rating and last night I had to set the max PP/HP on the Mini SS because Jimmy and Jason both had that car for the SNAIL race league but both also had an oil change so were higher than the rest of us.

I was actually down on HP comapred to the rest of you when we ran the Mini SS. Because I had changed the oil for the SNAIL races on Sunday, my PP and HP were both higher than the 'no-tunng' regulations. The PP limit was actually higher than the HP limit, so when I lowered the power enough to meet the PP limit it actually left me about 3hp lower than the rest of you.

Now onto more important things. Spectacular racing last night. That spec car delivered big time.

The odd bumping is inevitable and from where I sit it’s very controlled on Thursday night. Case in point….

The SS route 5 race ended with 5th place less than 0.4 seconds behind the race winner and it’s no joke that the top 5/6 in that race were within one second of each other the ENTIRE FUCKEN RACE it was incredible action and an incredible race. Parcells started near the back made it into first, back to 5th, back up to 2nd, back to 5th again, had a great opportunity to get back in the top 3 for the checkered flag coming out of the last turn but just nudged the outside wall to drop into 6th position when the opportunity to win it all was present. Surely there must have been “some” bumping going on amongst all this but I can’t recall seeing or feeling anything that would be considered aggressive behavior from anyone. Maybe Parcells just happened to be in a good spot but with all the jostling going on in that race I suspect I would have heard a lot more groaning going on. And realistically what are the chances of a similarly close race with NO significant racing incidents??? I would guess slim and none so well done everyone on that race. It was truly enjoyable!

Also a shout out to Jason for the awesome end to the Nurburgring race. I’ve never gone through the last chicane side by side before (and don’t plan to ever again to be honest :) ) but we stayed side by side all the way to the finish line separated by 0.079 seconds to end another dramatic finish! Well done Sir!

Thanks for the info Parcells...No Disrespect Intended...I know you can't give out the subtleties of racing to everyone who shows up on Thursday Nights...I know some of you guys have been racing GT for a long time...I was just hoping for a Parcells 101 on pro and cons of brake balance and maybe some insights of when and where. It would seem anything that could help braking would be a plus.yessmiley

No disrespect assumed Mr. Wheels. Like most things tuning related I'm not qualified to offer up tips certaintly not subtle ones. My brake balance tuning experience boils down to I read someone liked 6 in the back and 3 in the front so I tried it and was OK with it and have it used it on every car since. It really should be a one time test to see what feels right and then just use it on every car.

Wheels wrote:

That said, when in traffic (lap 1 or when in traffic) letting off the gas a bit on the approach to an upcoming turn helps to make the braking process significantly easier and you'll rarely lose ground on the guy whose ass you're on because he's usually braking late and/or sacrificing his racing line to keep everyone behind him while ultimately losing out on turn out acceleration.

disclaimer: very high right now offering this half ass advise so buyer bewarned. But not to be too worried this is how I race every Thursday night LOL

Spreadsheet updated with this weeks car which features Jason’s latest entry the Audi RS4 (01). Couple of minor upgrades and be sure to grab your dirt and snow tires cause that’s all you need this week.

Non-spec cars…

Mazda Roadster Touring car

Suzuki GSX-R4 – 01 – Drove this snail car yesterday, it’s awesome Jimmy!

NOTICE: Rules Update Maybe?

Unless you guys object I think we should adopt a rule to install an oil change on EVERY car we run both spec car and non-spec cars. I believe it’s the right thing to do from a car re-use perspective where you may have lost power since the first time we ran the car. Of course if we do this I fully expect a bit of extra chaos as people learn the new rule where it’s likely you’ll want to leave the room to get your oil change if you forgot. Additionally there could be (although not very often if ever) times where we use a non-spec car that wasn’t pre-chosen so I might not have an oil change but so be it were all drinking anyway (or should be).

I could go either way with this oil change rule and your feedback will dictate what we end up doing. Like it, don’t like it, somewhere in between or does it matter to you in the slightest?

FYI…The spreadsheet PP/HP for this weeks car is currently updated with an oil change. I will change this if you guys don’t like the new rule.

@Jason, let me know if you can't make it this week. I have a car all ready to replace the Audi if you're not around...whether the spec car is an awesome or shitty car the creator deserves to race it don't you think? More so if its shitty wink

In fact everyone may want to take a minute and purchase the Renault Sport Clio R.S. - 11 totally stock cause that's what we'll be running if Jason doesn't make it.

False start will be in this Thursday all night long...unless I hate it then its done forever. Everyone should pick up the Clio I posted above just in case there's too much groaning about racing the dirt/snow tracks which seems to be the case when Parcells picks them :), maybe people will be more forgiving with Jason but somehow I doubt it :)

Next time we do dirt/snow will be with a rally car I guarantee it.

Parcells...If I start out like the last time I ran this configuration with 3G's (5 False Starts in a Row) the night will be short!surprise

Wheels, if you start out with more false starts you're just not doing it right and/or your brake pedal isn't working properly cool. Below I copied Grimm's explanation from the Wednesday night thread which seems pretty straight forward...keep your foot on the brake until the go is given and you'll be fine...seems simple enough???

Instead of a countdown of 3...2..1... Start, you now have a series of red lights that turn on. During this time, you MUST keep your foot on the brake (you can use the accelerator to get the RPM's up but you need to keep your foot on the brake also). Once all the lights are on, at a random interval, the lights will go out/the word Start will appear. You can't take your foot of the brake until the lights go out/Start appears. If you jump the start, its a 5 second penalt.
